Great job on reshaping that surface. As for safety, yeah we all make some mistakes with our safety. Mostly the equipment forgives us and we live to "machine" another day😅 i once forgot a drill (12mm) was moving along the top of benchlathe and when it fell on the moving chuck(full speed) it certainly knocked my safety goggles, and broke it. I still have both eyes thanx to a cheap set of safety goggles. Dont forget to clamp workpieces when drilling or milling or turning and keep loose items away from moving machine parts. This is a message to all machinists out there. Be safe for more future and happy machining😀
@@CraigsWorkshop For long and thin parts it will indeed be better to use two vises in line. It will take some time to put them in perfect alignment, but it mast be possible.
my shaper is the same colour and the idea was, I can set it up to work and go and get on with another job, I now have a small stool nearby, and like sit and watch The shaper working.relaxing
A great video and job on the vice. I see in a comment below that I wasn't the only one curious about your brushed oil can. Did I mention, that I think the shaper is a bit hypnotizing .... Now I am feeling sleepy! 😀 Joe
Thanks for your comment, Joe. If you operate a shaper at normal cutting speed (25 m/min for soft steel) , there's no way you'll fall a sleep. More shaper videos are in the making. Stay tuned.
Thanks for your comment Dr.The shaper was already clean when i bought it. I just take a bit care of it. The drill press is nothing special. Just a cheap drill press.
Well, as if my mill envy wasn't enough, now I have shaper envy too🤣. Nice fix on that little vice! A clever work holding solution too😊. Gonna have to actually measure a cig paper lol. That's what I use too😁. Cheers
Fabulous. That vice “shaped up” nicely. Excellent fix 👏👏👍😀
Thanks. This was an easy one.

You're right. It's important to stay tuned at any time. Things can go wrong very quickly.
Very nice, I like how you developed the work holding setup with all the other options not working. Very intriguing.
Thanks.
Nice! Kind of the job a shaper was made for. Got me really itching to use mine now!
Thanks Everett. This is indeed the ideal machine for this job. More to come.
Got me itching to find a shaper.....
Hi, first time I see somebody using navigating tools for machining. That thrilled me. My background is navigation.
Good job on the shaper!
Hi Petar, thanks for your comment. This triangle has the zero in the middle. It is very handy to spot the centre between two points.
Hi Rust, great improvement to the little vise. I was amazed at how many vises you own! Cheers, Craig
Hi Craig, thonks for your comment.I collected 5 vises over the years, but all cheap and low quality.
@@Rustinox One way to use low cost vises: Shape two to a matched height! Some jobs must be easier with two small vises than one large vise?

Sounds great! Shapers are cool.
G’day Rusti great to see your shaper bring the vise into shape.
Cheers
Peter
Indeed, the shaper shape...euh...well... Thanks.
I have so much envy for your shaper! I would dearly love to own it! well one like it, :-)
Stay safe,
All the best,
Cliff
I'm looking around to buy a bigger one, so maybe this one will be for sale one of this days.

Hi Rusti, well - - - another great vid, nice shaper and loved the Bearded Oil Can, Take care Mike from Cornwall
Thanks Mike, I'll talk a bit more about this oil can in my next video.
Got no idea how u keep all that machinery so awesome clean!! I love it& I’m jealous for that drill! Looks very precise
Thanks for your comment Dr.The shaper was already clean when i bought it. I just take a bit care of it. The drill press is nothing special. Just a cheap drill press.
That sorted it out . Cheers .
That will do. No precision. Easy fix.
I thought you might get a high spot in the middle from flex when you tightened up so much. Looks like it was fine though. Good fix!
Even if it flexed a bit, for the kind of work i do it will be good enough. Thanks.
Nice small job with great results
Indeed. It works, that's all what counts. Thanks.

Thanks.Using things in a way they're not designed for can be very useful. BTW, shapers are fun.
Ha you got me I think you really want weld the block to the table lol
I'm not that stupid :-)
Thanks. Love the shaper action..
Thanks. More schaper video next week.
Thanks for sharing!
Our pleasure!
Didn't you raise the vise higher on one side of the block by the thickness of the paper?
Flatenating!
That was the plan :)
Come on Rustinox, cut the 480p crap out. We want 720p or 1080p
My newest videos are filmed with a HD camera. This was with the old one.
