The current Hydro, Dendro, Cryo, Pyro and Electro archons ascended to be an archon after the decease of the previous ones. Venti, believe it or not was actually quite powerful, hence why he conquered the land where he proclaimed himself the anemo archon, killed countless gods and powerful beings. Although, Zhong Li with his vision has always been the strongest among all of the archons, originals and new ones, without his visions, probably not anymore.
Not directly related, but I love how so far, each Archon seems to have a different story with how we find them or how they are doing in the world. For example, both Zhongli and Venti both decide to live as normal people, but Venti is still the God of Anemo, unlike Zhongli who has given up that position entirely. Here are some of my ideas for how the other Archons are faring: - One is ‘dead’ but is actually alive, opposite of Zhongli’s plan. - One is obviously a God, and makes it known (probably Tsaritsa) - One is actually dead, but the people of that nation hide it. - One does not know they are a God as their memories were taken, thus someone else took their position, and it is our job to help them reclaim their status. - One is very controlling over their subjects and keeps a watchful eye on them. (Not sure if this fits in with Inazuma, I'm a new player at AR29, I haven't reached it yet, and I have no idea what's happening as of right now.) - One is being mindcontrolled, but the player doesn't know it. If anyone has other ideas please lmk! I love Genshin’s storyline

From the end of Endora quest, we got more info about the Hydro Archon. The Oceanids we know of loved the original Hydro Archon who's now dead. Meanwhile, they hate the current Hydro Archon so they fled. Then this current one sends assassins to hunt them down. It's also known that in any body of water, the Hydro Archon watches

Unless is explained later on the new patch. This whay I understand about Baal's motives for the Vision Hunt Decree. *1)* She wants to reach Celestia or asencion to a new realm. (a.k.a Heaven.) *2)* Baal wants projects a powerful and untouchanble image for the Fatui and Habingers. *3)* Baal doesn't wanna be forgotten nor replaced. She wants for humans to dependant on her. Contrary Zhong Li's choice to leave Liyue's destiny at humans's hands. *4)* The One-Thousand Eye Statue is either a weapon against the Fatui or a boost for her powers.

Baal’s motives have always intrigued me, I think that her role is defined by fear. Her actions come two fold, sealing her borders, creating a massive storm to surround it, and removing Visions. Given how the world operates and what she is creating it is possible there are two motives to her actions. One is to keep something away from her nation and to shore up its defences, gathering power to hold something back. Or preparations for war. The defensive and offensive possibilities. Defensive is due to the fact she is unwillingly to involve herself with anything outside her borders, possibly knowing something might attack or will attack soon. Meaning she doesn’t want to involve herself with what might be coming. The Fatui might not be the cause, but might be an instigator. The reason for this development is likely out of fear too, from something on High. Such as Celestia. The offensive part comes from the creation of the Statue of the One Hundred Eyed God. Obviously a powerful tool or weapon. Given her desire to attain eternity and her views on herself she likely wants to make sure nothing can threaten her rule. There is only one force that can challenge her, and that is Celestia, and given her belief that she is closest onto Heaven, that can be seen as an insult to Celestia. Therefor, she is likely planning to fight them.
i actually thought the threath she is scared of, was the Statue of the Thousand-Armed Hundred-eyed God, cause she fears that the awakening of this God (Much like Osial) could lay waste to Inazuma, thus going against her Eternal rule ideal, maybe she sacrifices Visions upon this statue so the statue is content, and doesnt awaken. We saw in the cinematic that Kazuha had, how that statue had actually eyes and was sealed in place, its not too far fetched that it grows arms in order to fight.

Although this implies a more benevolent side to Baal’s actions. Which sort of take away from things, an antagonistic Archon would be interesting to see. As her character has been portrayed as tyrannical. If what you say is true that it is to keep the statue sealed I wonder why this is only being employed now. Possibly it could mean that the God is actually something from Celestia. Or we both could be wrong. Not sure. But I do like all possibilities. Makes it more interesting to see what it can be.

Based on Venti's "About Baal" audio, he knows. So its likely Zhongli also knows. Its just that the regular people of Teyvat didn't really notice the change so he just refers to her as Baal for simplicity's sake.
For Context to some people, it is not the archons who decide and bestow the visions to people of Teyvat. Since when asked about visions from Baal, She is surprised that no new Electro visions had been passed and reveals that she's not the one responsible in granting electro visions to people. Currently it's implied that the ones that grants visions to people are Celestials who are unseen gods above the archons.

Guys remember when mona mention a certain book given to the disciple/descendant of her master's friend (wich probably Alice) in her story quest? In my theory, that special book might have something to do with God giving vision to someone who's probably doesn't fit the criteria that much In other case, it's mentioned that Lisa also read a certain forbidden book in sumeru that have mysterious power. I assume the power of the book is probably the reason why Lisa can have a vision with a single thought, but unfortunately it gave her backlash everytime she use her vision. I mean there already is a rebellion at tatarasuna. I wonder what ayaka would do. Given her famous status, if she were to ever revolt she will indeed have a lot of supporters whether or not it's the raiden shogun she's revolting against. I'm also interested in knowing why tatarasunans dislike baal. Considering the fact that they don't even pray to the raiden shogun as told by an NPC at Kujou Encampment is also worth noting.
I think the criteria to get a vision varies a lot. I think I remember reading somewhere that Lisa was sumerus best mage and while in the middle of her research she realized it’d be in her favor to have a vision. I think the “desperate time” is just one example of getting a vision.
SPOILER: The current electro archon is not Baal, it's Raiden Shogun (the existing archon in Inazuma) or Ei (the real Raiden Shogun). Baal was the former electro archon which is also Ei's twin sister.

Baal’s motives have always intrigued me, I think that her role is defined by fear.
Her actions come two fold, sealing her borders, creating a massive storm to surround it, and removing Visions. Given how the world operates and what she is creating it is possible there are two motives to her actions. One is to keep something away from her nation and to shore up its defences, gathering power to hold something back. Or preparations for war. The defensive and offensive possibilities.
Defensive is due to the fact she is unwillingly to involve herself with anything outside her borders, possibly knowing something might attack or will attack soon. Meaning she doesn’t want to involve herself with what might be coming. The Fatui might not be the cause, but might be an instigator. The reason for this development is likely out of fear too, from something on High. Such as Celestia.
The offensive part comes from the creation of the Statue of the One Hundred Eyed God. Obviously a powerful tool or weapon. Given her desire to attain eternity and her views on herself she likely wants to make sure nothing can threaten her rule. There is only one force that can challenge her, and that is Celestia, and given her belief that she is closest onto Heaven, that can be seen as an insult to Celestia. Therefor, she is likely planning to fight them.
i actually thought the threath she is scared of, was the Statue of the Thousand-Armed Hundred-eyed God, cause she fears that the awakening of this God (Much like Osial) could lay waste to Inazuma, thus going against her Eternal rule ideal, maybe she sacrifices Visions upon this statue so the statue is content, and doesnt awaken.
We saw in the cinematic that Kazuha had, how that statue had actually eyes and was sealed in place, its not too far fetched that it grows arms in order to fight.

Although this implies a more benevolent side to Baal’s actions. Which sort of take away from things, an antagonistic Archon would be interesting to see. As her character has been portrayed as tyrannical.
If what you say is true that it is to keep the statue sealed I wonder why this is only being employed now. Possibly it could mean that the God is actually something from Celestia.

Based on Venti's "About Baal" audio, he knows. So its likely Zhongli also knows. Its just that the regular people of Teyvat didn't really notice the change so he just refers to her as Baal for simplicity's sake.
For Context to some people, it is not the archons who decide and bestow the visions to people of Teyvat.
Since when asked about visions from Baal, She is surprised that no new Electro visions had been passed and reveals that she's not the one responsible in granting electro visions to people. In my theory, that special book might have something to do with God giving vision to someone who's probably doesn't fit the criteria that much

I think the criteria to get a vision varies a lot. I think I remember reading somewhere that Lisa was sumerus best mage and while in the middle of her research she realized it’d be in her favor to have a vision. I think the “desperate time” is just one example of getting a vision.
