Good one... But there exists the very basic question... Y do we need so many devices and hence more and more notifications thereby bringing in ai??? Remember that a user needs to sign up for notifications... Conscious decisions are the key...
Humanity offers clarity, compassion, and consciousness. I believe in LOVE. I AM LOVE. Remember: You are more divine & more powerful than you can imagine...
my lights uptaded, so 1h no lights in the house, the fridge texting me while i'm driving "you're close to a shop, buy milk", mobile rings, car battery ran out so 45min waiting to check my crypto on my laptop, play some YT on my tablet and eat some junk food while my drone takes some landscape photo of the area... where's my life now ?
In terms of context awareness, we can wait ten minutes to avoid a long queue because those in the queue have not thought of that, if everyone is context aware then the benefits of context awareness disappears. It's a little like air travel, back in the early 90's, I could pretty much always get into first class simply because I knew the rules for their upgrades as well as how they priced the tickets so I was flying first class for a total amount that was less than 40% of the regular economy fare, now that airlines use adaptive AI on their pricing and upgrades, I'm paying far closer to their regular economy fares and am only able to upgrade when I have made a lot of trips in the previous year. Context awareness would lead to more efficient use of resources and maximize revenue for service providers and your employer but the benefit to you would be significantly diluted as it becomes more prevalent.
I see pretty much everyone here in the comments criticizing the guy and talking about how technology has no control over your life, good for you but he's not talking about you or a minority of people. He's talking about the majority of people and we see it everyday in our lives, most people can't let go of their smartphones and are pretty much enslaved by technology and social medias even if they don't realize it
My friend's son is coming for a rare visit on Christmas. She is 76 years old. He will be spending about 70 % of his time with her scrolling on his phone. I will be there too so she will have someone to talk to.
power buttons were made for a reason. If you're having issues with paying attention to the world/people around you, then stop opting in to a system you don't have the discipline to participate in.
@Shane Henry Teed loss of the human touch. Like your statement, cold and defensive. What ever you do, it will always do better. Submission a d kneel before zod.
sometimes you want respond to mr X but in some different location or situation or time don't want disturb by mr X . you want all time thinking about the comparison you want respond or not to mr X
+MaJimena GM You're assuming that people are rational. Now, there are people that have always had mobile communication and the thought of turning off the communication doesn't naturally occur to them. Science Fiction has been depicting the potential for this problem for over fifty years.
@Majimena GM - You are missing the point of the talk. You probably need to finish the entire talk so you would understand what the discussion is all about. :) You can look up Ubiquitous notification. :)
People aren't addicted to technology, they are addicted to the content that it delivers, and in the quick rapid way it delivers it. Context-awareness is useful, but it only solves a trivial problem. The real solution to the real problem is to deliberately enjoy more real life experiences, and consume less internet stuff.
I don't have a smartphone and have never had on. I still feel those vibrations in my leg sometimes. I think its todo with the blood flow, nothing to do with being used to cell phones.
Great presentation. Few problems I have. He didn't tell people that they have to be integrated with technology for it to disappear. Instead of push notifications on the phone or toaster it will be in your brain. Just like his analogy of electricity, integrated into the house. Also, he projects a false reality of showing how useful this Ai software will be. But fails to show, how the problems our society already have will increase dramatically. So, its great to talk about the flowers in the meadow, but its relative only when you don't live in a swamp. Funny enough they have been stealing our info, secretly, and trying to use it, in a way where they can plan our day out. Imagine, changing these plans one day, and all of a sudden you are red flagged lol. Or all of a sudden, you realize something is wrong with the system, you are now a threat. lol. Though I must say its really helpful to not have to wait one minute to make coffee, if I was a cold minded individual, that walked the same 45 paces from my room to the kitchen to get my coffee the same way everyday. Kill emotion, logic, thinking, creativity, and natural flow. Sounds great.
My phone don't ring. That's not to say it don't receive calls or that I don't get texts or email on it but I don't like being interrupted while working on art or music in my studio.............. which is inside my phonputer.
spending time with the ones you love is a matter of priority NOT technology ... Free decision making starts right in our brain, no machine will take that "Task" away from us
I think this is real cutting edge and highly necessary in the urban part of the world, for not getting enslaved by unintelligent bureaucrats and unintelligent devices and machines. And we need places like Costa Rica, living in e.g. a treehouse, far away from any WiFi any noice from the civilisation and without any controll from any system. Just the nature and us. I think we need both to create a better world. I support your effort.
The most glaring omission was not even mentioning at least one bad use of such technology. Like telemarketing or spam or stifling voices, manipulation, etc. Better think long and hard about relative LAW!
If there is a super computer that uses context awareness and analyzes peoples habits from the data gathered from their interconnected devices, someone might find a way to exploit the system, like creating an algorithm that generates a password file based on a persons data, habits and daily routine.
An uncommon point of view towards A.I. Not the most interesting concept to listen about, but definitely a thought-provoking one. I wonder what else can the idea of A.I. offer us in the future.
Once I started looking into robotic systems, AI, exponential growth and UBI universal basic income (freedom dividend) - it's amazing how many TED Talks there are and how many great minds have researched this and put their information out for everyone to see, hear and read. I now support Andrew Yang for president because he is the candidate that has a vision of what will happen and what is happening. He is forward-thinking on how to go with the future and not being overcome by it
Great presentation! I've never thought that can use one artificial intelligence to deal with the rest of my life. I will became jealous to the ability of the AI to control and know everything. I don't see the need of me in the future; the AI can do all of these thing without me and I don't see with what to full my time.
If AI is being trained by human activity and building a "concept" of human behavior then it must be taking into account all the negative and damaging social media behavior stemming from anonymity. Anonymous behavior is typically more volatile and not "real" compared with in-person behavior.
Michael Bagwell unfortunately our top wants to sale the bottom but have to figgure out a way to weaken us before we find out america is no longer american
Interesting as long as it doesn't decide to buy me a cup of coffee just because I bought one yesterday and the day before at the same time and same place.
This is very interesting and something to think about. AI usually is categorized and generalized. It is refreshing to see specialized AI talked about, at least to a small extend here.
I've had the phantom vibration. I thought it was maybe my hip bone rubbing together for a few years when I either didn't have it on vibration or didn't have it in my pocket.
I don't want THIS future... I long for a time when no one was staring at a phone. No matter how you sell this it is about losing control and becoming part of a matrix for want of a better term. Everyone is so accepting of loss of freewill now and it is terrifying. So AI will make everything easier...everything will be predicted and provided for you. I don't want that. It will not be good for us.
In the sacred scriptures of India, this New and Advanced Technology is kind of known about and in any way we look at it . Technology and Scientists are missing an essential issue. We are humans/living- beings and poverty and the natural consciousness of all life simply can not withstand the onslaught of our new Technology. The consequences of IT are so awful humanity will simply destroy itself. As you rightly say we need as living-beings to SUBJECT Governments , Science , Military and Politics to the Humanities Discipline before we lose any control we have left. BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE ! dude you really have a point there. that´s the thing Steve Jobs was talking about a few times, but i´ve never understood it in such a great scale. but it seems absolutely logical: at one point AI will be so well integrated that it can and will do basicly all the programming and engeniering for us. technology is in the background - the function remains.
Congrats for the inspiring and great quality talk, Rand Hindi Just one thing though: do you believe that your technology will really make humans not want/need notifications to interrupt them? I'm not sure that context-awareness will erase FOMO and phantom notifications. IMHO, humans will always hope to receive potential good news. I really hope that soon, my phone/smartwatch will automatically guide me to the nearest available public bike, as soon as I walk down the stairs of my office at 6pm, though :-)
That sounds nice. But we all know who usualy seeks predictibility in humans before they send them to hang out with their loved ones (in Heaven). And to even help them or it? And it's allready done secretly? Good luck everybody...
If I can get automated system to answer to my customer’s inquiries and problems... and yet still take their money... without a single interaction. That would be something I want to have.
I've stumbled the phrase '...it's about to enjoy the world...' that's what we all definately would immediately start to do (enjoy the world) after technologies become 'invisible'... - less bothering - and absolutely 'natural' as electricity today... - Should we think first about how to reduce unequality, agression and social mental development and health... over the world(?... - Less hope for me, thst it is ever possible, at least while I'm alife(((...
Interesting to see how different folks perceive information. Most of the time its agenda first then judge before understanding or none of the later. :)

Just because 90% of us experience phantom vibration does not mean we are hallucinating 90% of the time.
My thought exactly. Also, spam didn't really exist in 1995.
Exactly

I just got this notice 6 years ago.
three years later and the technological change in phones and tablets and computers in such three years is LITERALLY IMPERCEPTIBLE.
I don't have a smartphone and have never had on. I still feel those vibrations in my leg sometimes. I think its todo with the blood flow, nothing to do with being used to cell phones.
It is the subconscious operating on anxiety that tech causes. All this constant connection is BAD for your mental stability
It's funny because his findings to this presentation reminds me of my thesis for school almost 7 years ago

old stuff, nothing really new. and scary, when considering privacy.

I have done that sorta thing with my phone except I set it instead of predicting it.
2020 and this is becoming more and more like Hindi's predictions.
[01:42] OK, relieved ... *phantom vibrations* ... whew!
Happens to others, too, I see.
This is very interesting and something to think about. AI usually is categorized and generalized. It is refreshing to see specialized AI talked about, at least to a small extend here.
Surely the bottom line here is, you will be told when to go to the post office.
