This will be a wall of text of reply, but i just need to let this out somewhere man. Yes, they did excellent job in showing how much Thorn actually destroy her life. The loneliness and despair it cause was shown perfectly in the exact moment Alphen feel pain for the first time *from her*. You can see all hope that she had, all hope that was built together during this whole journey, gone from her face. And when we "destroyed" Renas Alma at final act of part 1, she's back to her old mysterious self. She no longer opens up to us. In the beginning of part 2, when we confronted her and asked what's wrong, she said "you saved me from Vholran, and that's enough for now". I was really confused and actually hurt from that word. Like, what did we do wrong? Why can't you tell us? It wasn't about the curse? It wasn't about Renas Alma? Then, what was it?? Then she finally open up in that scene near the spaceship, and that moment also really sweet. (spoiler from One Piece) Some of her words reminded me of Ace's death, where she lost her resolve to die after all of the journey with us. Before she knew it, she no longer want to die. Goddammit man. From that moment onward i was so ready, soooo ready to fight the whole world for her. When the final cutscene plays, that was good and all. We got to see her kiss with Alphen and hold Rinwell's hand, her curse finally gone. But for me personally, the biggest reward is at the credit, where we know that after all of this fight and struggle on her life, she FINALLY live normally and happily. That final illustration of her smiling with Alphen at the wedding, makes this game probably one of the most rewarding piece of media ever imo. You can't help but feel relieved when knowing all her burden (and knowing how big that burden is throughout the game) finally lifted up from her, and you as a player "takes part" in making that into a reality for her. I hope so, there’s still some unexplained stuff, and volrhan just disappears with renas alma. Also the achievement beat 200 “non dlc” enemies made me think they’d bring some more dlc. Hope this does well enough and they think some sort of sequel.
@@pudgemiester Volrhan said to Alphen "ill see you in hell" basically then killed himself by blowing the renas alma up. What more went unanswered? Lenegis? I mean maybe. I guess they got merged into Dannah along with Rena. It's safe to assume the residents of Lenigis are on Danah now since Dohalim is still hanging out and at their wedding. What else though? The producer stated this is a complete game with no DLC or sequel planned. What would the sequel be even? They settled down and are in peacetime. There's nothing more that you can do with this story that wouldnt tarnish the first game by forcing a second one. I mean a DLC with Alphen and Shionne being a cutesy newlywed couple would be cool but out of place. Nothing was left open enough to bother creating additional content for to explain.
@@TheXboxSux if anything, they need to return to Berseria/Zestiria's universe! There's still any entire race of... Major Spoilers below Heavenly Seraphim scumbags that need killing!! It's because of them that Humans and Malakhim/Seraphim have so much trouble coexisting!
I don't know about additional DLC, but they did say early in development they intended to develop this as a 100% standalone game. I think the most likely way to get any significant story expansion would be in the form of an Arise+ version based on the game's success, much like DQ11S or P5 Royal.
And, as a bonus, while many Tales games have romances, they usually shy away from actually showing intimacy, even Hearts off-screened the kiss. I think Destiny was the only other one to even have marriage for the main romance.

Finally! A definite Romance in a Tales Game! Can't wait to play mine, I'll have it tomorrow! And I don't mind spoilers tbh coz I still don't know the story, I just wanted to know about mah boy Alphen and Shionne
Still in chapter 2. And I'm currently taking a teaspoon of spoilers and all I can say is this is the only game BNEI went all out on romance. I know there's DOTNW, Graces, Destiny and Hearts but this one didn't pull any punches in display of affection
Tales of graces had a definite romance, Hubert and Pascal, as well as Asbel and Cheria. Tales of Abyss with Luke and Tear, Symphonia DOTNW between Emil and Marta. Phantasia, Cress and Mint.
One things I always enjoyed in the Tales of franchise was the little romance sub-plots entries had since all the way back in Phantasia. I'm happy someone on the Arise team said to bring this back with a vengeance after a couple of games didn't do this in recent time, because Alphen & Shionne are great together! -It still gets me in the back of my mind how this relationship is just reincarnated Artorius & Magilou,- but I *still* love this relationship regardless!
I love Alphen & Shionne's storyline but I can't help but feel a bit jealous that Luke & Tear didn't get the same kind of epilogue at the end of TotA. All we get is a brief scene of them reunited.
I get that it was for the sake of some ambiguity regarding the end but yeah I agree they def deserved a stronger reunion. They were really cute. Only other Tales couple I like as much as these two.. well as far as canon instead of just implied is concerned.

The only Tales game I ever played before this was Abyss. Spent years imagining a payoff for Luke and Tear's relationship at the end of that game. I am quite happy that I didn't have to for this one. Haha
Poetic then, that 300 years after being saved by Naori, Alphen ends up saving and falling in love with her descendant. The question is how does Naori even have a line of descendants? Was Shionne the product of a lab, or was some poor (or masochistic) guy at the end of some electrifying sex?
@@owlie373 : Yeah, plus she can suppress them at will, so it might be enough to nullify the effect where in Shionne's case it's gotten to severe to suppress entirely.
Though Persona 5, unlike Tales of Arise, also has 2 sad endings (the first being selling out your friends to Sae and getting actually killed by Akechi, the second being accepting Yaldaboeth’s deal).
I kinda wish ppl would stop complaining about thumbnails or titles being 'too spoiler-y'. Just having these videos and/or watching them *BEFORE* the game is out for most everybody else is already spoiling by default. Just ignore/don't watch the videos then. Tbf, I would've waited til Friday to even post these, but too late now. All that being said... *SHIONNE x ALPHEN FTW!!!!*
@@sLasHeRxXx07 Do you mean the post credits scene? Tbh, I thini this is the 2nd game that outright pairs off the 2 main MCs. I think the 1st most straighr up example are Stahn and Katrie from Destiny since they actually had a kid... and, y'know, cuz Destiny 2 happened. ...And, I'd like to put Luke and Tear from Abyss in there, but considering the ending.... Honestly, mostly implied/optional events that don't even really affect the ending... Straight up romance is either subplot/implied, or optional. Arise actually goes out of its way to point out that this game is like, 50% grand romance... and goddamn did they get it right! Oh, and Rinwell liking Law reminds me how old I am considering how well they pulled off the subtle hints and given how they act.
Not talking about omega specifically, but everytime a game comes out people get kinda careless about titles/thumbnails. Earlier this year i got spoiled on Bravely Default 2 before it officially released by another youtuber because of the thumbnail plus title. I didn't watch the actual video, it just appeared on my recommended because I had previously watched trailers I don't mind when people upload stuff early, I just wanted to point out that it can be done while also being considerate to people who haven't even gotten the game yet
The problem is really more on TH-cam's end. To this day they don't allow anyone to collapse the recommended videos section, and if you're waiting eagerly for a game, that section will be flooded with videos you actually don't want to see anymore because TH-cam keeps track of that interest and looks for more. If the title/thumnail give you the info you don't want, too late. After all, it's impossible to look at something and realize it's something you didn't want to know without comprehending that information. The phrase 'don't like it don't read it' is nonsensical because of that. XD
@@joryharris8002 Lol by the time it got to that point those two were so in love they didn't need to use words. I'm sure there was plenty "i love you's" at the wedding. I think the ending scene where shionne jumps into his arms for a kiss without awkward dialogue is perfect. You can tell shes been wanting to do that SO BAD for at least 50% of the story and her overwhelming joy that she finally can now makes her spring into Alphens arms.
@@TheXboxSux I point it out because in Japan they don't really say I love you and I would like that to change. Or I would at least like them to include it more in western translations. I agree with you 100% I feel like they said I love you through their actions. HOWEVER, at one point Main guy was about to say it and was hushed and told to wait until thorns were gone........... As to why I don't play the game. I do not have the time for JRPGs. I love the stories, but the gameplay is often grindy.
Pretty sure the producer said that Arise's will have no story DLC. Though I wouldn't put it past them to make a drama cd post Arise or a sketch of Alphen and Shionne holding their newborn child or something
Am I the only person who doesnt want there to be a sequel? Not because I dont want more of their adventures but because I dont want to see their happy ending ruined. By the end Alphen and Shionne are so powerful together they can basically obliterate the world if they felt like it. To have any conflict would require one or both of them to die/be permanently injured. And If their kid was the next protag then you just know one of them will be killed protecting the kid so that they have motivation to go on their adventure.
I think there’s other channel who even posted thumbnail of their KISSING and that for me is a MAJOR SPOILER as it telling the thorn will be successfully discarded. I’m one of who unlucky enough to see that thumbnail and after finish the game on the last scene it didn’t give me bigger impact as it should be just because I knew they will succeed and Shion won’t die. Also, Shionne's maiden outfit is easily the prettiest thing EVER. 😭💗💗💗💗💗
Best girl.
Edit 2: Thank you for posting this, because I rewatch these cutscenes so, so much! These two (both Shionne and Alphen) and this game as a whole just means the world to me 😭💗 it is such a genuinely heartwarming, extremely memorable, fairytale love story. The game doesn't even allow you to replay cutscenes so this is very valuable.
he forgot to say it after her thorns were gone tho...
@@joryharris8002 To be fair, I think the ending of the game between them exemplifies that enough. Regardless, I'm so happy for them ;w;
@@BinaryPLUR yea...I was alluding to how in Japan they don't really say I love you. And that he was supposed to say it after her thorns were gone because when he was about to tell her before she told him to wait.
@@joryharris8002 Ah okay, yeah, I totally get that.
Well. You pretty much summed up what I felt. 👍
I fell in love with them. Not because they are cute, there is that also, but mainly because there love breaks enemy races stereotipes, Shionne not only she had wall, she also had tornes on it, litteraly, horibble past...
the story was really interesting, full of plot twists......after i beaten the game the ending got me crying like a new born baby.....i been waiting for that kiss throughout the entire game and the wedding caught me by suprise....i am a bit sad now that the story has ended, hopefully there will be Arise 2 in future

Heavenly Seraphim scumbags that need killing!!
After so many things with "ship-teasing" and "unresolved love tension" from past two games, it's great to see main couple in Bandai Namco Tales Game.
Tale's fans : IT'S ABOUT TIME
And, as a bonus, while many Tales games have romances, they usually shy away from actually showing intimacy, even Hearts off-screened the kiss. I think Destiny was the only other one to even have marriage for the main romance.
Past two games? Almost all Tales games have unresolved romance
@@POKENAR Technically speaking it is implied that Asbel and Cheria did hook up and marry also based on the last scene after the credits its just not slammed into your face like Stahn x Rutee
This Tales Of deserves an adaptation to an anime of about 24 chapters.
No way give it 40 something, otherwise it be rushed as hell like those other Bamco anime adaptions.
it was love at first sight and they're both so clueless about it. it's so incredibly adorable. though, I do wonder how awkward it had to be for the rest of the party when Alphen and Shionne have their moments.
I haven't seen an Ending this wholesome in a really long time
Holy shit, a jrpg where they didn't leave it ambiguous? Never thought I'd see the day
Impressive as always
And here I thought I was improving

Finally! A definite Romance in a Tales Game! Can't wait to play mine, I'll have it tomorrow! And I don't mind spoilers tbh coz I still don't know the story, I just wanted to know about mah boy Alphen and Shionne
Yup
Still in chapter 2. And I'm currently taking a teaspoon of spoilers and all I can say is this is the only game BNEI went all out on romance. I know there's DOTNW, Graces, Destiny and Hearts but this one didn't pull any punches in display of affection
Didn't Tales of Hearts have a legit romance
@@williamcorey4700 it did. But like the other Tales games, it pulled its punches when it came to intimacy
Tales of graces had a definite romance, Hubert and Pascal, as well as Asbel and Cheria.
Tales of Abyss with Luke and Tear, Symphonia DOTNW between Emil and Marta. Phantasia, Cress and Mint.
And this is why I love the "Tales of" series
Same
1:05:36 As Cyborg from Teen Titans would say "Well it's about time."
They got their nice, warm house with a roof and a proper fireplace. Damn. They got me 😭😭😭
There's a skit where Shionne and Alphen talking about "make something together" that should've been in this video 😂😂
Yeah that one was funny AF.

Alphen: "For the sake of our sanity, I cannot answer that question"

@@deinonychus1948 I need to watch that skit in English. I did In Japanese and I found it so hard not to laugh-
One things I always enjoyed in the Tales of franchise was the little romance sub-plots entries had since all the way back in Phantasia.
For me... this is the best love history that I experimented in a videogame, they are cute together🥰
Omggg finally !! Been so long since we’ve seen a good romance in JRPG ! Thank you !! Would love to see this in Japanese dubbed 🤣
there are japanese voice settings if thats your thing.
And even then we don't even know if it was "Luke" that came back or not.
44:04 Alphen become the man of wholesome chad
32:21 is my favorite skit in the entire game. It’s so wholesome

I'm happy that they got married but also sad because Zephyr didn't live long enough to see them together

@@saberz7027 It was obvious they were going to use him as a plot catalyst when he was never able to be controlled. There White garb makes them look Senel and Kanonno from past Tales games. Although Alphen looks more like one of the prince characters from Revolutionary Girl Utena (not Akio cause he's an asshole).
So satisfying to see a canon romance in a piece of mainstream Japanese media. Sadly something you don't see a lot of these days. Ship it like hell tho 🥰

The only Tales game I ever played before this was Abyss. Spent years imagining a payoff for Luke and Tear's relationship at the end of that game.
I am quite happy that I didn't have to for this one. Haha
Hehehe I actually like their chemistry.
Your missing the scene in Cycloden where Shionne slaps Alphen to put some sense into him
Poetic then, that 300 years after being saved by Naori, Alphen ends up saving and falling in love with her descendant. The question is how does Naori even have a line of descendants? Was Shionne the product of a lab, or was some poor (or masochistic) guy at the end of some electrifying sex?
Perhaps thorns wasnt so strong back then, or she could supress them fully. Remember, if Rena's Great Spirit gets stronger - thorns gets stronger
@@owlie373 : Yeah, plus she can suppress them at will, so it might be enough to nullify the effect where in Shionne's case it's gotten to severe to suppress entirely.

This and Persona 5 are proof that a story can be as dark as it wants and still have a happy ending.
Though Persona 5, unlike Tales of Arise, also has 2 sad endings (the first being selling out your friends to Sae and getting actually killed by Akechi, the second being accepting Yaldaboeth’s deal).
@@TMX1138 Those endings aren't canon, though.

Do you mean the post credits scene?
I didn't watch the actual video, it just appeared on my recommended because I had previously watched trailers
I don't mind when people upload stuff early, I just wanted to point out that it can be done while also being considerate to people who haven't even gotten the game yet
XD
I just going to play this game for this two.
