You need to repost this. I saw this a year ago. But it is much ,much ,more needed right now. People are searching for for a way to plant a garden fast and as easy as they can. Blessings and safety to you and your family
Today is always the best time to start gardening. Love your prep teaching. Love your spiritual teaching. You have a special gift conveying your passion.
First Lord Bless. My wife Karla and I live in eastern Canada in New Brunswick. We are thankful for your help. And whatever the Lord brings to us we pray that we are prepared. Thank-you for helping us in that preparation. Michael
I feel my time in the garden is time with God, I am constantly talking with God when in the garden. Having a garden helps to destress as well. Great video.
I have three tomato plants going in containers, bell peppers and potatoes. I'm trying corn for the first time. I live in a mobile home park so I'm limited on what I can do, but I'm going to plant what I can using raised beds and containers.
I call it hortitheft, but when I go for walks I find seeds like holly hock, parks with a very old iris busting out! I break off a little peice..gardeners love to share. I started way too many tomatoes. I wish some younger people would come around for some . Also it's easy to save seed ! Get heirloom..grow for years!
I LOVE that so many people are talking about (showing how to) growing a garden...VICTORY gardens! Yep! you CAN grow Anywhere! You'll learn...yes, 'you are what you eat' applies to plants too, but hey...every living thing FIGHTS for life even if you plant it in rocky soil...use what you've got & improve it as you learn & grow but don't let 'bad soil' stop you from spreading the seeds! Luke 8:5-15 :).
When I am in the garden I connect myself with my creator and I see him in his beautiful creation. You do the very best videos and share Jesus to the world.you are so great and wonderfully blessed.
Loved the video . Been bummed out this year and was not going to fix up a garden this year but after your video I'm going to . Thank you for the inspiration and the joy ❤️

If you are using the strawberry containers as mini greenhouses, you can line the bottom with a coffee filter so the soil doesn't escape out of the holes when you water the seeds.

Oh Erica, thank you. I am so very far away from being an angel some days. Your words are kind though and yes! I do and will pray for each person who finds their way here to PREPSTEADERS! God bless you today! :)
My daughter and I have been working on a garden for a couple of years. Thank you for teaching us new ways! I thank God for you! I love your sharing scripture. God is good!
I discovered chickweed because of watching you. Found a recipe for chickweed fritters. Absolutely addicting. Thanks for all your wisdom. I have learned so much.
My mom used to use faucet water that she would put in used, cleaned milk gallon jugs. She would let it sit to get room temperature which the plants like better. Also, allowing it to sit would let the chlorine in the water dissipate. Her flowers and indoor plants are always beautiful!
I just ate my first Brads Atomic Grape tomato. So sweet! Too sweet for processing into salsa or sauce, but I’m pretty sure I can just eat them all right off the plant! And they look as great as the seed packet photo too!
I love your videos. I dry the sage leaves from my garden and make sage stick bundles to keep hanging in my kitchen. They're supposed to cleanse and purify the air. I regard this practice as akin to using holy water or maybe just a fumigant to offset anything bad or bad vibes. Also, this year I've discovered that a weed called hairy bittercrest grows abundantly. It's edible but only really nice when v.young. Thanks again. I love listening to your voice. It's very soothing and I appreciate the bible reading. Love from Ireland
You and your garden are beautiful and giving me great ideas! the cow fence thingie is what I need. I have just planted my very first and I'm super happy. thank you!
Thanks for sharing your knowledge. I started my first garden box garden right before and was wondering about what to do about the squash. You are a blessing to help people so kind. Love the scriptures. He is the only God! So alive and loving!
God bless you and thank you. September 2022 I found you and subscribed. At 62 only the second time I planted a garden organic efforts have been diatomaceous earth and cedar chips as protective mulch as a natural pest deterrent. God has truly blessed me with victory in my garden and volunteering lovely edibles like poke, Hibiscus, and my favorite lambs quarters 🌱
You have a comforting voice , makes me feel as if we are friends. and for sure you have the Spirit of the living God. I live in South Florida and started my garden about 2 months ago.I am growing potatoes, tomatoes cantaloupe, watermelon, black beans , pigeon peas and yuca(a face book friend gifted me some tubuals) I am very excited as I watch everything grow. Having a hard time growing spices such as cilantro, but I hope soon to get it together.
That is wonderful, April! I hope you have a big harvest. Every seed holds a miracle and I learn so many lessons trying to "help" them grow. Let us know how yours turns out!
It’s always nice to see and hear what others are doing in the garden even if you’re a “seasoned” gardener to get ideas and inspiration. I let the wood sorrel grow in my yard to harvest for salads or just to snack on. I love the lemony flavor. Also dandelions and clover to make dandelion and clover jelly.🙂
I started a raised bed garden and have it fenced. Want to plant more but always have to protect from the rabbits. It's getting to be a challenge. Thank you for sharing some tips 💐
We had rabbits last year...got a rescue Beagle/hound and sent him out...no more rabbit problems. This year he will patrol the back yard. I don't think they're coming back.🐕

My dad taught my brother and me both to garden. My brother hates it and won't. Ihste it until my hands hit the dirt each season and I feel the energy of the earth between my fingers. Then the love of gardening last me throughout the season. Of course being married to a country girl doesn't hurt...

Ok, I know this video was 2 years ago, but I have to comment on gardening in Iowa. I live in Northwest Iowa where the soil is some of the finest in the world. I gave up gardening a few years ago because of my black thumb in spite of the wonderful soil 😁. So I guarantee, you can’t look at the soil here and grow a garden 😂. I did start up again last spring and had some minimal success with containers, so I will keep trying. I appreciate all the tips you shared here, and in all your videos for that matter. I hope you will keep the videos coming. God bless!
I'm trying sweet potatoes in old shop vac canisters. I also put in a garden with your cattle panel suggestion. I have tomatoes, snow peas, green beans, zucchini, summer squash, butternut squash. So excited to see how it goes. Put several herbs in pots.
I’m a certified master gardener, but I enjoyed watching this anyway! Two years ago I got into prepping and survival items. I stocked away some vegetable seeds for an emergency like you described. I decided this year was enough of an emergency for me to break them out and plant them. I was so glad I had them because seems like they’re hard to find as lots of folks are planting gardens this year. Plus this way I didn’t have to get out in the stores to buy any. Great topic and I’m so glad you did a video on this. Would love updates as the growing season goes on. By the way, never compost poke salad plants that have tons of berries on them. I used that compost on my garden this year and I have tons of poke salad sprouting everywhere!! By the way fig trees get pretty big. May want to move it a little further out so you’ll have more room.
This year I am saving seeds from the veggies I buy at my local farmers market when I see that the vegetables are grown locally. I live in south FL so we have almost a year round growing season I just need to plant the right seeds that will survive the summer heat. All of my herbs do very well through the summer under my shaded garden tunnel.
getting my first house and one of the first thing i going to do is work on the garden already got the newspaper to help kill the weeds(that i plan to lay out on closing day) and some compost I made from most fall leaves and a few fruit peels and have some pepper seeds started.
Florida Boy here....(central) that is.....lol. I am growing 2 species of banana, Key lime, Meyers Lemon, blackberry, pineapples, black raspberry, fig, Moringa, bamboo, two varieties of Mulberry, Perennial Pepper, rosemary, lemongrass, 3 varieties of tomatoes, Miracle Fruit, Barbados Cherry, Florida Prince Peach tree, Surinam Cherry, bell pepper, katuk , and soon will be planting Brad`s Atomic Tomatoes for first time. Blessings2U , Wolf Psalms 51:10
Hi Christa, I started everything from seed this year for the first time in decades of gardening. It has been trickier than I thought it would be! Granted some of the seeds were almost 10 years old so I expected some resistance but most were from this season or last. At this point I have everything growing that I wanted to plant so I have been planting starts to give to neighbors (or strangers if they ask) to encourage them to grow SOMETHING. ANYTHING! I am getting subversive and trying to get the little kids in the neighborhood to grow radishes so the parents get involved! :) I planted a salad bowl for my mail carrier (she was thrilled). I agree 100% about getting seeds from the grocery store in the form of food. One year I bought a single pepper of 6 different varieties, a cantaloupe, several potatoes and some live herbs. The cashier looked at me kinda funny so I informed her that I was using all of them for seeds. At that point she and several people in the line behind me all broke into huge smiles and said wow! What a great idea! Almost everything grew great! And I got stuff for dinner! I love what you do and how you live your life! I wish you were my neighbor! Stay safe, be well and all the best from California 💛
That is wonderful! Thank you for sharing your story. Certainly every fruit and vegetable from the grocery don't have viable seeds, but far more than we realize! I am glad you had success and I hope you do it again. I love experimenting with them all!
For disabled or our elders, search up agrability and contact your local extension office and ask for any resources and tips for your local area. I had to call a couple times to get the right person who could help but if you keep on it, you will find them. There are also grants and greenhouse grants, I'm still waiting for follow up from last year as some don't know the gov programs available locally but keep on them and you may find more help. Much love and keep helping each other. God bless and keep you.
I don't know, my thumb is VERY brown but I still try. I think I'm going to have to stick with buying my plants. I tried to do everything from seed but when I transplant my starts I kill them and don't really know what I'm doing! I had beautiful tomato seedlings but when I transplanted them to solo cups, I had healthy stems. All the leaves died and fell off!! I will try again next year maybe. Lol.
Start in cardboard, toilet paper tubes, cup carriers, jiffy pots. When time to transplant, plant into bigger pots or into the garden. Do not take out of the starter mini pots. Not disturbing the roots gives a better success rate.
Juice and plastic milk containers make excellent trowels or dirt sifters with a few cuts and/or pokes. :) They also make excellent - food grade - containers for plants or starters. Keep seeds in the fridge for longer viability. If a plant fails, compost. :) ... In my garden - popping corn, rabbits are refusing to let it grow :( ... Sweet corn ... Copenhagen Cabbage - not coming to head, but they are easily wearable as full coverage loin cloth LOL ... butternut squash, going nuts.... pumpkin ... tomato ... pepper ... cauliflower ... beans ... peas ... basil, rosemary, sage, peppermint ... okra .. cucumber ... hot peppers ... mixed flowers ... carrots, potatoes, radish (going to seed), lettuce (seeding), spinach (seeding)... honey dew and cantaloupe because they freeze so well ... no luck with sunflowers, the wildlife eats them before they can even get their real leaves. :( I need to make some fencing.
Love your video's... solid energetic information ,, no matter what the topic ....skills from experience ,, willingness to share ,, loving life !! Amazing heart and generosity ,,.... I have followed your channel for a few years now and gained improvements from so many tips you share......seems like you must have lived many lives before to hold and share such a wide range of skills ,,,, I am so thankful that I found your channel.. ..By the way , I work as a state noxious weed superintendent , and have learned that a " Weed " is a plant that is growing in a location where it 's not wanted .... I also was raised to know weeds as a non- productive plant of no value .... Education is the key .....Who knew some "Weeds " such as the" Dandelion " ..is not only completely edible ,, but has many good nutrients as well ,,as many others.....Education is Key ,, there are many good sources out there ....and for some of this learning CAN not only feed the brain ,, it can feed the body....... Thank You so much for what you do.........Stay Safe and God Bless.......
If you put like a coffe filter in the bottom of the metal pan it could help if thats all you've got, just a thought, love your videos, thank you and God Bless
You're right the shovel is thin sheet metal, I'm surprised it worked for anything but soft dirt. You should be able to root those little nubs would pulled off the rosemary stem. I have never had the blossoms on mine but I guess I never had a live plant that time of year, I brought it in the house and the central heat dried the leaves up and killed it, I found out not to put them in central heat so I keep the one I have in a room that I don't heat unless I need to,it actually use to be the carport. You can get banana seeds to grow where you live, I live in zone 7b in Oklahoma and grew some pink hairy banana tree seedlings last summer but the horrible heat killed them, I was hoping I would have bananas about this time, I have a few seeds I will try this summer and put it in partly sunny area or a shade cloth. Does the rosemary handle the cold there, the one you have in your garden is huge? I ended up with a poke berry weed in one of my planters last year. Hugs for you.
WW2 all Americans were supposed to plant and grow a Victory Garden. I remember my Dad saying he had to tend to the Victory Garden even after the war was over and he (*ha ha) at age 10 was not to thrilled about it.. As you always say "Learn from the past, prepare for the future"
Yes we are on same page I got a seed pack like that sealed 1,000 of seeds I keep in fridge for emergency & then use dollar seeds or blow out Home Depo seeds for use today..... Your alright, cute as the day is long as well : )
I'm zone 7a or b.. we have morels... And I am new to gardening.. Trying to learn all I can.. I want dragon fruit so bad... I bought one, took some seeds and now they are about a inch.. I don't think it will happen... I'll try almost anything once.. Thank you for sharing..
Yes! I keep a couple unexpired Patriot Seed Vaults on hand. As they expire, I use the seeds and get a new vault. I also have a ton of Baker Creek seeds. I apparently have no self control when on their website.
I love seeds, I collect them, haha. I recommend trying to keep produce to US only, produce from other countries will probably be irradiated before entering the US, making the seeds non viable. Also, if dollars are tight for garden tools, plastic juice and milk containers make pretty sturdy trowels and soil sifters. Even planters, actually. Vege peels and discard can be cooked up for fertilizer. I love gardening, thank you so much for the video! It helps my mood a lot ^_^
So what is a Iowa girl like you doing way down south, my family is in Iowa but I ended up even more north 🤔 I think I went the wrong direction to get warmer weather 😆😆 God bless
Thank you for the encouragement! I feel like I can tackle this now even with my black thumb, haha. Baker Creek is awesome! They have vegetables I have never seen before and vegetables in all colors! Best of all...it's non GMO, organic seeds. Heirloom tomatoes like our granddaddy's had.
Thank you for sharing this! Even us "seasoned" gardeners can get some tips here :) I let the DandyLions and Purple Deadnettle grow in my yard... for Bees, and edible. God Bless!
Does anyone know how to get rid of cut ants. I don't know what they won't destroy. I'm trying to start a few plants in containers on my deck. Thanks. I love your programs. God bless you!
I am doing the Straw Bail garden over here in NC this year. Lots of work, and money to start, but then next year it will be just the straw. Making Arches for beans and squash, and of course, Luffa. LOL
Well done. Would like to see more of the strawberry deal - never saw that before. Big benefit of the sunflowers - they attract the pollinators. Grow heirloom. Save the seeds, plant over and over.
Hi Erica, Sprouts are super easy to grow indoors since they don't need hardly any light at all. We grow them on our kitchen counter which isn't near any window. Also they grow to edible size in just 3 or 4 days so you get some instant gratification! :) I have seen people grow them in jars, pans, pretty much anywhere. The flavor of the sprouts is usually similar to the seeds you are sprouting so, for instance, radish sprouts taste a lot like radishes and alfalfa sprouts taste like... grass. :) Do what you can with what you have! Happy gardening and all the best from California 💛

Hi Christa,
I started everything from seed this year for the first time in decades of gardening.
I appreciate all your knowledge you share, especially in these hard times. You are reviving the good old ways- how lovely of you! Thank you :-)
Wish I lived close by for all the tips and goodness your SHOWING!
A very smart ,pretty lady!
Great looking Lady smart and talented
All of your vids have are filled with valuable content and nicely delivered. Thank you
you can plant seeds in empty eggshells too..then just crush eggshell and plant together with seedling for extra nutrition for your plants
Lol.
Experience is the best teacher.
Start in cardboard, toilet paper tubes, cup carriers, jiffy pots. When time to transplant, plant into bigger pots or into the garden. Do not take out of the starter mini pots. Not disturbing the roots gives a better success rate.
Tell everyone to save coffee grounds and eggshells
Cindy Robertson why?
@@susanhoffecker compost
Wet tea leaves are also good for fertilizing plants & flowers.
Juice and plastic milk containers make excellent trowels or dirt sifters with a few cuts and/or pokes. :) They also make excellent - food grade - containers for plants or starters. Keep seeds in the fridge for longer viability. If a plant fails, compost. :)
Thanks for the strawberry idea you had! We're going to try that this year.
I can't even keep flowers alive! Herbs die on me and veggie harvests have been pitiful. I am determined to learn.
Glad to know that I'm not the only one!! I keep trying also. This year I got worm castings to amend my soil hoping I will get a better harvest!
Hey Mary !! Don't give up, we are all leaning. A gr8 video to watch is Back To Eden Film. th-cam.com/video/6rPPUmStKQ4/w-d-xo.html
Never give up!!! Your determination and desire to learn will pay off!!! 😀❤️
Woooo. I would love it if you could get it to grow! Perhaps in a pot you can pull in during cold months? Let us know how it goes!
Very interesting and helpful! I love your zeal for gardening and the way you subtly integrate encouragement into your instruction!
Lil too warm for anything here...plus the drought. But yeah, the rosemary and the lavender is hangin' in there. But the cactus is doing wonderfully!
So what is a Iowa girl like you doing way down south, my family is in Iowa but I ended up even more north 🤔 I think I went the wrong direction to get warmer weather 😆😆 God bless
Love your videos!!!
Thank you! I am so glad!
Love the berry planters
Thank you for sharing this! Even us "seasoned" gardeners can get some tips here :)
I let the DandyLions and Purple Deadnettle grow in my yard... for Bees, and edible.
God Bless!
We eat dandelions and stinging nettle! 😋 Very nutritious, and medicinal, too!!! 😃
What side of the house is your garden on? How much shade and how much sun a day is needed?
My garden has dandelion, plantain, chickweed, wild onion, and milk thistle😊
We have had good luck.
We plant tomatoes 🍅 cucumbers 🥒 squash eggplant 🍆 and carrots 🥕
You are a very vibrant person very nice info.
Does anyone know how to get rid of cut ants. I don't know what they won't destroy. I'm trying to start a few plants in containers on my deck.
Thanks. I love your programs.
God bless you!
What can I plant to deter deer. What kind of dense do you recommend? Thanks
I am doing the Straw Bail garden over here in NC this year. Lots of work, and money to start, but then next year it will be just the straw. Making Arches for beans and squash, and of course, Luffa. LOL
You are precious!
Well done. Would like to see more of the strawberry deal - never saw that before. Big benefit of the sunflowers - they attract the pollinators. Grow heirloom. Save the seeds, plant over and over.
Need to looking into straw bale gardening.
thank you sister.. you are so nice, and your place is so beautiful.. its great to come here..
I don't have a balcony or a yard. What can I grow in doors? Any spices, celery or?
Erica, don't give up. Perhaps start with a little indoor window-box filled with micro-greens like wheat grass and broccoli sprouts!
Hi Erica,
Sprouts are super easy to grow indoors since they don't need hardly any light at all. We grow them on our kitchen counter which isn't near any window. Also they grow to edible size in just 3 or 4 days so you get some instant gratification! :) I have seen people grow them in jars, pans, pretty much anywhere. The flavor of the sprouts is usually similar to the seeds you are sprouting so, for instance, radish sprouts taste a lot like radishes and alfalfa sprouts taste like... grass. :)
Do what you can with what you have! Happy gardening and all the best from California 💛
