I completely agree! I’ve never been on board with the black series. I had the same thought process as you when they came out, like yeah its cool that they are a little bigger but my entire collection from my childhood all scales together in 3.75 inch scale and i was not about to buy every character again when i already have them , have vehicles, extra accessories, and play sets that are meant for that scale
Totally agree about the variety of 3.75 I switched to black series during the dark ages of 5poa but now that good 3.75 is back I have done a 180 and I am back to army building and having vehicles / playsets
JCC is slowly but surely amassing quite a ‘stash’ of Black Series figures. Give yourself some credit JCC, your collection and channel are pretty mainstream amongst SW figure collectors and fans.
Really happy to hear your take on this figure! I took the same exact approach you did but with the 03' Grievous, and when I found him it made it just that more worth it. It is always refreshing to hear your perspective on The Black Series. I would love to listen to your thoughts on the line and how your thoughts have evolved over the years, (Or even you in a presidential debate to end the argument between TVC and TBS! XD) Just a few hours ago I wrapped up editing on my very first figure review video, comparing the new TBS Darth Maul to its TVC counterpart and hope it may resonate with your critical collecting approach to both. I plan on posting it either tonight or tmr morning, idk whichever I choose the algorithm will prob ignore it anyways lol. Your work is an inspiration and excited to start a journey of my own here!
If i had a bigger budget i might go for him because the likeness is just *chef's kiss*. But i don't have a Jedi display XD can't justify him right now. Or at the time.
TVC has been absolutely KILLING it lately, to the point where they're objectively BETTER than most TBS figures. In many cases as well, they're better than their 6" inch counterparts. I am so happy that they're finally making more and more figures each year, especially considering how much the quality has improved. I've moved away VERY heavily from TBS over the last couple of years, and other than Clones, I do not have any regrets.
I totally get it. That is an amazing figure. I have the key players from CW in BS as a focus. Like Padawan Anakin with a gold hand I found... I already have BS Mace in his regular apparel.. I do want this, but I won’t get it. TVC I may bite because he can get in that purple starfighter.. which rocks! So does Danieleast1000 btw 🖖
I collect both... but I cherry pick from both too, only characters I actually like, mostly just jedi and sith...I will say 6in figures look way better on display but 3.75 figs have more creative possibilities and variety and obviously more affordable in most cases... so my display shelves have 3.75 figs in the front and stair steps of 6in figgies in the back, looks great honestly best of both worlds
I wasn't on board with Black Series till about 2015 when TFA stuff was coming out and 3.75 was getting worse and worse. I've flirted with the idea of converting back to 3.75 exclusively but there are just too many great Black Series figures that I've gotten that I just don't think I'll be able to part with anytime soon. I wasn't gonna get this one but if I ever find him I might have to get him, didn't know he had that much new stuff to him.
There’s too many characters and variants in the black series that I mainly just stuck to imperials since they usually have the most diverse armor compared to the clones which have been mainly just been repaints for phase 2 and arc troopers, I like my imperial display since it has a troop for almost every environment, shore troopers, mud troopers, range troopers, snow troopers, patrol troopers etc I love clones but a shelve filled with just colorful clones doesn’t do it for me compared to the imperials which all have different molds
5:39 THE ANK-USSY!? Also, your thoughts on Black Series kinda reflect my thoughts on 6 inch in general. The 3.75 inch Marvel Universe line got me into collecting, and Legends just never scratched that same itch. And now, not only do I lack any passion for it, but I'm priced out, and my dear MU is just gone, reduced to a vague memory for most people. Everything on the market just feels the same. Technically speaking, I could collect the Lightning Collection versions of the SPD Power Rangers, my favorite team, but I find myself more attracted to the original Bandai figures since they're more unique. Save for the occasional figure or two, the homogenization of the collector's market is part of what has made me a much more casual collector these days. I rarely grab anything anymore, and what I do grab is rarely the start of a new collection. It's just a single piece. Feel free to reference this for your video on it, btw. I'm not doing one any time soon, and it would be interesting to see what people say about it.
Yeah I like the smaller scale stuff better I like setting up battles and scenes better than having a focus on the individual characters themselves but I do have a lot of black series because they just make more characters; although it seems like TVC is beginning to get every character black series gets again around the same time like the season 7 clone wars stuff
I feel even if you don't Collect a Certain Series if it makes something cool that you like then why not get it you don't have to get every figure in the wave just one's that make you go Oh that looks cool Why Not Dare I Say Why Not.
You got whole Black series bad batch delta squad or omega i dont know right know but like you dont collect Black series Black series general grievous Imperial crosshair Hunter wrecker echo tech captain fordo obi wan idk what else. Isnt that all black series + the commando droid
Hasn't felt like Black Series has done anything new over the years, especially in the accessories department. Dooku had an excellent lightsaber wave effect that hasn't appeared in other Sith or Jedi figures since its release, Dagobah Luke, Dark Trooper, and Padme have been the only releases with swappable hands so far, and the articulation of the Jana Solo figure has only ever been used on a few figures; heck, the ROTJ Boba has been one of the only deluxe releases to have a boat load of accessories. It doesn't feel like the line wants to try anything consistently innovative or creative, it'll just try something new once and rarely ever touch on it again; having the same articulation set up and 1 or 2 accessories for each figure makes each of them feel unsurprising or bland after a while. Feels like TVC gives more bang for your buck despite its small scale
Actually: The old Han Solo from ANH (from way back when the line started in 2013 and it's 2017 re-release for Episode IV's 40th anniversary) came with his pair of piloting gloves
@@ThatGenericPyro True. But what I mean is that getting interchangeable hands doesn't happen too often in the line, at least compared to Hasbro's other 1/12 properties
̶𝘴̶𝘶̶𝘶̶𝘶̶𝘶̶𝘶̶𝘶̶𝘶̶𝘶̶𝘶̶𝘶̶𝘶̶𝘳̶𝘦̶ ̶𝘺̶𝘰̶𝘶̶ ̶𝘥̶𝘰̶𝘯̶'̶𝘵̶ ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) Can't blame you tho: This guy looks sick! Probably the only Mace Windu I'll buy (and one of the few Black Series figures I'd like to have opened & carded, actually. Along with Grevious & another Fordo) EDIT: If they ever did a wave two I'd love to see the ARC Trooper Lieutenants, a 2-pack of Anakin & Ventress and Obi-Wan & Durge, Voolvif Monn (the Shistavanen Jedi), and maybe Ilum Yoda
Update: I cut back on my Black Series collection even more... this Mace Windu didn't make the cut. RIP.
The pose you pop it into at 7:13 looks so good, the armor kooks really neat on this one. Loved the Tartakovsky Mace scene where he fights the droids.
Give in to the 6'' scale propaganda! GIVE IN!!!

I collect very few, mostly clones and stromtroopers and vader, other than that I buy it if I really want it
Totally agree about the variety of 3.75

11:53 man I wish. There isn't even a super battle droid in black series
Your videos the black series prices and the lack of care for accuracy with the clones made me sell all my 6” figures, 3.75 till I die
If i had a bigger budget i might go for him because the likeness is just *chef's kiss*. But i don't have a Jedi display XD can't justify him right now. Or at the time.
I’m a fan of 6 inch as a adult cause it gives me the same feeling I had as a kid holding 3 3/4 inch figures if that makes sense

Yo wtf with those ankles though lol, I love the robe! Headsculpt is great too!

Is this black series video coming out before or after the fox video

The version of mace windu that Sam wanted in the movies

6in is love, 6in is life
I picked this up because it was on hard-core clearance at Walmart haha. Total impulse buy and now he just sits in a box

Hope we get a TVC tartakovski wave

J4 I’m surprised you didn’t compare him to his own clone trooper from the season 7 of clone wars
Yeah I only get some of the imperials for black series and some of the clones.
GIVE IN TO THE 6TH INCH SCALE NOW!
I feel even if you don't Collect a Certain Series if it makes something cool that you like then why not get it you don't have to get every figure in the wave just one's that make you go Oh that looks cool Why Not Dare I Say Why Not.
You do collect Black series. Accept your fate.🌚
