- Have you ever played a sport? In practice, drills are the most important thing practiced. Why is this different with violin? It shouldn't be!
When you're first learning the violin, developing your bow and violin technique can be the most crucial thing you could do! But it is so so often overlooked. When most students come to me, the first thing we have to completely revamp is their technique. It's so so important if you want to improve fast and be able to play better and sound better! Don't skip practicing your technique!!
Good luck and happy practicing!
Also, if you're looking for an incredible student violin, this one is my favorite! kennedyviolins...
So many good details explained in a clear way! I wish I had this video when I first started years ago.
I love how practical you our videos are!
Thank you!!
Omg Awesome! I am about to start from 0 and this is so good 😊 we think posture is not very important but it is and such a good way to start... You are great thank you for teaching us and helping
Brilliant instruction . I started playing violin about 4 years ago but never had these beginner practices so explicitly spelled out. I can guarantee that is much harder to undo bad habits developed over time than to start off the correct way from the beginning. I know that correcting my posture, grip, arm swing and rhythm will make a big difference to my playing. After watching this video I am going to take some time incorporating all of your wonderful instructions into my practice time. Thank-you!
So amazing! I’m so so glad it was helpful!
Aside from your nice fingernails, I appreciate your well-thought-out instructions. Much appreciated.
😂thank you
Wonderful method of teaching.❤
Thank you for taking the time and trouble to make your videos! They are extremely helpful.
So glad they’re helpful!!!
Omg I love your video. Thanks for making it
You give such thorough instructions. A natural teacher. If you created a course I’d definitely purchase ✨
Thank you!!
I am brand new at this, got a rental for Christmas. Learning from scratch so I would appreciate any and all detailed instruction. Love your videos and your way of teaching. Would ask that you never assume we ‘ already know something” , please, because I’m sure not only me but many others do NOT already know. Thank you so very much for these videos.
So excited for you! And yes such a great reminder for me!
So happy to have found such an amazing and beautiful violin teacher! Just started playing this, thank you so much. 😁
Aw thank you! 🙏
Thank you for this. I’ve been feeling like my posture is off but couldn’t put my finger on how. My lessons are virtual so it can hard to get those corrections.
Hmmm yeah that can be tough. I hope you figure it out!
WONDERFUL information!!!!! Thank you so much Corrie!!!!
💯 so glad it was helpful!!
You have no idea how much I appreciate this video! I have never had violin lessons, but I learn really well by ear. So while I might have a difficult song figured out, my lack of technique kind of ruins it. I never know what to practice, and I love these bite-sized videos! Probably a dumb question, but is my neck/upper back supposed to be sore the whole time I’m playing? Again, no lessons, so I don’t know what is supposed to hurt and what isn’t! 😂
Noooo for sure don’t want your back hurting while you’re playing! Two questions: 1. Are you practicing sitting down? 2. Do you have a shoulder rest?
Thanks so much for replying! I am standing, but I think I should probably invest in a shoulder rest. What brand would you recommend?
@@lydia9638 Yess, I think it will help you so much! I highly recommend the KUN shoulder rests. They're on Amazon or Fiddlershop.
Thanks so much! You are awesome!
@Corrie The Violinist très beau jeu de violon 😍🎻
Thank you!
@@Corrietheviolinist my pleasure and that right there is me speaking in french
@@Isaactheviolinist beautiful!
I heard once:
Do you want to play for 2 years or want to play for a lifetime? If you have chosen the latter, mind the technique and the posture.
Woahhh..... This is so good!!! I might steal this quote haha
