When I was a kid many years ago I took a hunters safety course here in the US State of NH. They had us create a survival pack. It had a bunch of essential things like a foil blanket, compass, whistle, knife, duct tape, the blade from a saw with one half covered in tape to cut small branches and take up little space. The one thing I liked the most was we got the strike anywhere matches and melted wax to cover the striker end and put those in a water proof case. This was a good project for me and my dad to put together. I had these for years after my dad passed until some Jerk a lurk stole them from my Jeep. Anyway I liked this video maybe I will make myself another survival kit just for the memories and maybe save my life ;)
Need to add paper (sm. notepad) and pen/pencil, sharpie marker. electrolyte tablets, duck tape, sm. emg. blanket :) great little kit you got started.. "Be Prepared"
I like it. I keep a small little set up. In side the same water bottle you have I keep paracord, ferro rod, lighter, small flash light, pocket knife. Then I have a small runners backpack with a hammock, hat, paclite jacket.
This kind of stuff is always fun, especially cool things like that Pelican box. I’d suggest adding an emergency foil blanket if it isn’t already part of the first aid kit, as well as a quality jump starter like the Gooloo 4000A for the truck.
Awesome bag! I really like that case! My old scoutmaster used to tell us to pack what we will need then think about things that you might not neccessarily need but could use,he always said it's better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it! Take care! Love, hugs and peace!✌
Some people think I’m crazy but I have a pretty serious get home bag in my truck. In the winter I have an extra down jacket in a small stuff sack. I also have some good tactical gloves clipped to my bag. I also have two emergency mylar blankets. My kit includes everything you have in yours as well. Great job.
Your videos are great and I really appreciate another woman with a side for adventure, so thank you for your videos! I say the following in kindness: I've noticed your more recent videos have been including more clickbait and it makes me less inclined to watch your channel. Again, I normally really enjoy your adventure content, and I'm sure you already have a large following without having to venture down the avenue of clickbait. I look forward to being able to watch your videos again in the future.
My car get home kit ..i have 2 styro coolers..one is loaded with bottled water (I live in the south) the other has misc food also have solar flash light with strap cutter and window breaker. I also have a back pack get home bag..with water-foid -fire-self-defense -bandana-cordage-small first aid and leatherman tool. Still working on more things like flares and tire inflater kit. I have good sams membership..but got to thinking if shtf scenario may need more than that. Great video thanks for sharing (female here too).
I keep my R40 stocked with cigars. As for my get home bag, I kept fire, water, first aid (2), a fixed blade knife, firearm, and spare magazines. I also keep it stocked with food, water, and a shelter system.
Nice little setup! About the solar power bank: I have found that keeping it on the dashboard, tucked up against the windshield, lets it get some charging almost all the time.
Thank you for the video, I would recommend adding two items for your truck if you do not already have them, a small shovel, and a heavy long tow strap.
I love the short videos when they are instructive. Longer ones are more for entertainment and some educational. Awesome video keep the content coming have a great day.
You are going to love the Darn Tough socks, they do wear out (it takes a long time) , but they have replaced every pair I have sent back. I started with some hiking socks from them , then work socks, then casual, and now I literally wear nothing else now.
@8:55, i believe that is very close to what we called back in the day a sailors lighter or a Sheppard's lighter. usually, they would have a spark wheel attached directly to them, but not always.
One thing I did not see was a source of cover . I pretty much have same bad . I have a small axe, a full tang blade , a large tarp, a fold out silky saw , compass , along with a lot of what you carry. Great video by the way 👍
Living in the Southwest desert of Utah I always make sure that I have plenty of water a shovel in the back of my truck survival gear extra food blankets and I always tell people where I go cuz you never know when you're going to find yourself stuck in the sand with no cell service.
in my bag I keep a Trangia, every gas station has dry gas, a single bottle of dry gas will boil 4 cups (2 in the morning 2 at night) of water each day for 4 days. A second 8 ounce bottle will get you another 4 days.
Towel in a dual use color is very smart. Get a bush buddy mine and a toaks alcohol burner. Same weight or less and is multi use. Toaks 750 or 1100 is multi use too. Injinjju socks as under sock. Never a blister again.
nice kit, I like that you aren't packing 500 things and it's actually carryable and not too heavy. With that said, I have a few small suggestions of things to add: 1. a few zip lock bags. Great for storing/carrying water, waterproofing electronics if you're forced to walk or camp in the rain unexpectedly, etc. 2. a reflective emergency blanket - small lightweight, I think everyone knows why it's useful 3. contractor (heavy mil) trash bag. Great to use as a tarp or poncho in a pinch 4. caffeine pills or instant coffee, good for morale and keeping awake and alert in case you need to. 5. A bit of cash, you never know when that can come in handy 6. lip balm or vaseline. good for chapped lips obviously, but also cuts & scrapes and usable as firestarter depending on the type you get. 7. a bit of gorilla tape. great for basic repair and tons of other uses. 8. a pair of gloves. your hands are you best tools, espcially in an emergency you need to protect them. None of these are heavy or take up much room, but can add a lot of flexibility and capability to your bag. thanks for great videos as always.
I have a small shoulder bag when ever I leave my home. It is my Bug Out Bag has all I would need to last a week or more. 2 ways for water 3 ways for fire a T6Zero Shelter and all kind of food. You have to have Water after 3 days without your in trouble. Always a Boy Scout, Be Prepared
I wear Darn Tough socks everyday. I have two drawers full of em! Great socks and I highly recommend. Also I have the pelican ruck 60, great piece of gear to have! I have been backpacking algonquinpark for 36 years.
Awesome setup! Check out the grayl water bottle, it covers the water bottle aspect and also covers the filtering of water. The filter is also better than the sawyer filter.
My son's and I have that same bag...they use theirs as field bags when we take the pew pew s out. Mine is pretty much how you use yours. Stuff I keep in the truck, but would need to take out when the Schmitt hits the fan.
Excellent kit Careena. I also have, a medium sized backpack. With more clothes and stuff. Don't forget your duck tape, and bank line. Don't want to give Shawn Kelly, a heart attack. Lol Thanks for the vid. Cheers 🍻
I think you are really cool,we don't see many women in Canada that are asgo getter as you are.thanks for sharing your adventures with all of us arm chair enthusiasts.I have had some dirt time in the Ontario outdoors and you gotta have internal fortitude to get through it at times. Thanks again.
Great kit and I agree with the comments below of additional items to add. I would suggest moving those items to a 25 or 35L day hiking backpack in case you have to walk home or to safety. Also keep appropriate clothing and footwear to change into for the walk. We don't always wear the appropriate clothing for a long walk when we do our day to day travels.
Nice video. Good Ideas. Great production kudos for lighting, sound and presenting the items - many TH-camrs miss this! Thank you for the work. Now to get my kit out and see what needs updating...
I always have way too much stuff in my car. Partly cause of earthquakes. Mostly cause I can. Two solar panes like you'd put on a house. Lots of big lead acid batteries. Full size shovel. A little tent. Lots of water.
I live in Iowa with unpredictable weather and road conditions I pack a winters survival kit that sits behind the front middle seat console. I exchange a few things for the other 3 season's
I think a few big ones I would consider (depending on your lifestyle) are a firearm, a solid knife, zip ties, and possibly a small roll of duck tape. I think that Pelican is awesome, btw.
Heck ya!!!!!!! Being prepared is EVERYTHING!!!!!!! that's a great kit you put together!!!!!!!I tend to over pack all my bags and kits!!!! But I like being that guy that can fix anything anytime!!!!... alot if times I'll use the stuff on or for other people!!!!!! Those freeze dried meals are awesome to keep and give out to hungry friends!!!! Lol
Fun video. I have the same concept as you, but with the vertx contingency 45l. The shoulder strap can convert it to a backpack. I’ll bring a small pack, haversack or waist bag depending on how far Im heading out.
Thanks good video as always only thing I might add and I'm old school is a lensatic compass even without a map they can get you from a to b give grizz a treat
I keep 2 go bags in my Jeep. One large duffle bag with enough stuff to live on for days (think heading down the wrong mountain road in a blizzard) and one small day pack with an old pair of sneakers, socks, sweatshirt and pants and other basic items (think soaking wet and cold). Whatever you put in your go bag, the absolute minimum should be a good knife, a flashlight, warmth, water and food. It doesn't need to be elaborate.
I want that pelican box....lol I keep a yeti load out box in the bed of my truck. basically filled with just about what you have. I keep a goal zero jump pack and power pack in the truck, with a wool blanket. I do keep a small tarp, rain suit.....nothing crazy. like you said, just enough in case you break down. I am not looking for shtf bag where you need to survive for a week. I do keep a collapsable fishing rod and light tackle in the summer in case I am out and see a good fishing spot I want to try out. it all fits in a 5 gallon bucket I just toss back there. the bucket can be used for water collection if needed, a seat, a step ladder, or just something to gather shit. I like these short videos. well done.
Good job on the first aid kit. Most overlooked piece of gear in a lot of these videos. I go so far as to have some Rx meds on hand in a survival situation. Antibiotics, pain meds, sleep meds, hydrocortisone cream, benadryl, vitamins/minerals (Emergen C type stuff). I also throw in a couple smoke grenades you can find at any fireworks store. Mine also includes stuff for my kiddos.
The emergency bag is good prep...How about tools? A nut driver for hose clamps, flathead and Phillips head screw drivers. How about adding a collapsible bowl and treats for Grizz....thanks for the video
Just a pro tip. Your go bag is an everyday bag. Fairly permanent. Water snack, etc. Obviously keeping sat device powered up and a power bank. First aid kit expanded is really super important. Tourniquets and heavy wound kit in case of a crash or coming upon a crash situation. You need to be able to save yourself and others.
A good reminder that I need to upgrade the emergency kit in my truck. A breakdown in a bad location could be big trouble without some basic survival gear. Thank you again.
I have a go-bag but I don't keep it in the truck. I have some essentials in the truck like a first aid kit, blanket that you can warm up by plugging it into the cigarette lighter and some tools for engine repair. If I'm going on a road trip, then the go-bag comes with me. The go-bag is a backpack with just about the same things you have in yours. It's always evolving....changing things out, adding, upgrading...etc.
I love darn tough socks. Quite pricey but I wear them every day for work, and they seem to hold up well. I have a watertight tote in my truck that I keep with some similar items. I try to keep my truck maintained but because my truck is 20 years old I also keep extra fluids like coolant, engine oil, trans oil, PS and brake fluid. Other items I have are duct tape, jumper cables, jump pack, tow strap, foldable shovel, zip ties, tire plug kit, air compressor and some misc tools in case I need to fix something and I'm a long way from town. Its alot of extra expense having these items but if you ever have to call a tow truck, they'll pay for themselves if you can fix your vehicle yourself.
I unexpectedly realized what gym bag I'm going to replace my old bag with. I like to keep plenty of coffee/tea with my jet boil. It's a oldie but a goodie too. Yep.
Very nice Charge TTI! The perfect tool to preppers, i have a Sidekick and a Streamlight ProTac and that tools make me feel ready for everything! Nice video Alexis!
I have a fixed blade knife as a backup to my leather man. I also never go anywhere without a whistle. Might sound silly, but that sound travels far. And I have found several animals don’t like that high pitch. Great video.
That is sick how many links you have in you description, so helpful for finding good products... great product review channel! Thanks Alexis. Stay Chill Sister.
Water freezes from the top of the bottle down, so it's best to store water bottles upside down in the winter. If the water starts to freeze, you still have drinkable water at the top of the bottle.
Really nice video, greatly appreciate you sharing this. I got a couple of ideas from you, thanks. If I may you might want to think about some type of high visibility tarp or reflective tarp. Also, a compact Mylar blanket, some bank line and an additional pair of socks. Just my thoughts. Can't wait for the next adventure.
Good ideas on your Bag. I got basically the same, larger bag because my work I carry extra clothes that I can throw out and go if needed. Poncho, prefer a little better then cheap to use for shelter. Darn tough socks, You know I live in Hot Ass Texas and I wear or have worn Darn Tough for years and actually my feet or never hot or wet. There ya go. Basically the same as your with exceptions of larger bag and poncho.. Have fun
It's great to see what others find important to have 'just in case". I have a "bug out" bag ready in the event I need to dash out for whatever reason. I have the basics, All lightweight stuff, and totally affordable. I do not have one of those fancy spot things for no service/emergency beacon communication. I'll look into one for sure.
Any time I travel more than a few miles from home, I have a "get-home" bag in the trunk or behind the seat of my truck. My bag is more designed for urban settings. Gonna get home, one way or another. Thanks for posting.
Love your set up mine is set up like yours with some add ons just incase I have to leave my vehicle behind and go on foot. I've got the works packed in at just over 10lb .fish hunt first aid fire shelter water light cordage compass and a few other odd n ends
I'd put a couple of thermo blankets in the pelican case and keep that one in the truck, so as to lighten the load on your GHB (get home bag) probable put the solar charger on my dash board during the day to actually charge it too. :) You need some cover for your GHB too either some more thermo blankets or just a poncho, cause you can use that for cover while your walking or rain jacket, and make shift tent too or just have on to keep you warm at night leaning up against a tree or lying on the floor of the ground to hide yourself among the brush. You might also have some type of self defense tool to keep on you or in your bag for bear, or other problems that might come up to get home safe. Looks good tho I like videos like this bc you get to see what other people carry with them and you get ideas to either delete or add to your OTG, GHB bags.
This was great to watch, you gave me a couple ideas for my "Bug out" bag, may i recommend a cheap Poncho, Mylar blanket, and some aluminum foil for yours, they are easy to pack away. Anyway, thanks for sharing, All the Best and Happy Trails !
I also keep a GHB in my truck, has everything you got and then some. I'm a prepper though, so mines also more of a INCH bag as well. Everything I need to survive short or long term. Glad to see you're not just a beauty but you got the brains as well. Thanks for the vid 👍👍
I live in Washington and carry so much more my truck is basically my survival bag. Filled with tools, gun and ammo, case of water and food. My first aid bag is the same size of that whole bag. I guess I just think differently.
Thank you for sharing! Excellent video presentation! Awesome kit!
As someone who has long hair… I can’t even grasp how you roll around the wild with your hair down.
You must have the patience of a saint.
When I was a kid many years ago I took a hunters safety course here in the US State of NH. They had us create a survival pack. That’s a nice little pelican case! And that bracelet OOO!
that's a person who enjoys what she's doing and well prepared 🙂
Need to add paper (sm. notepad) and pen/pencil, sharpie marker. electrolyte tablets, duck tape, sm. emg. blanket :) great little kit you got started.. "Be Prepared"
Love Darn Tough socks! Love the kit!
Like the pelican case, have to get one or two
I swear by Darn Tough for hiking, mountain biking and trail running. Great fit, cushion and foot support. Good choice.
I like it. I keep a small little set up. In side the same water bottle you have I keep paracord, ferro rod, lighter, small flash light, pocket knife. Then I have a small runners backpack with a hammock, hat, paclite jacket.
👏👏👏, currently a ash walking stick with a nail in the end , tent, snow brush and 🤦♂️ weeks worth of garbage...
This kind of stuff is always fun, especially cool things like that Pelican box. I’d suggest adding an emergency foil blanket if it isn’t already part of the first aid kit, as well as a quality jump starter like the Gooloo 4000A for the truck.
I second the jump start kit. I use the GB40. Good little tool to have
I've been wearing Darn Tough Socks for over ten years, they are worth every penny. Their cushioned work boot socks are the bomb. Thanks for the video.
Awesome bag! I really like that case! My old scoutmaster used to tell us to pack what we will need then think about things that you might not neccessarily need but could use,he always said it's better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it! Take care! Love, hugs and peace!✌
Great video! The darn tuff socks have a lifetime warranty. If they fail they'll replace.
I say the following in kindness:
I've noticed your more recent videos have been including more clickbait and it makes me less inclined to watch your channel. Again, I normally really enjoy your adventure content, and I'm sure you already have a large following without having to venture down the avenue of clickbait. I look forward to being able to watch your videos again in the future.
I do have a get home bag in the car, & had it for years, but it needs to be tweaked. Also need a bigger bag. Thanks for the video!

Nice bag from Michigan! Like your shows been listening for couple years!
@8:55, i believe that is very close to what we called back in the day a sailors lighter or a Sheppard's lighter. usually, they would have a spark wheel attached directly to them, but not always.
I use an ammo can. It fit's a lot of stuff. Put some 1st aid stuff in there and check out a Rats tourniquet.
One thing I did not see was a source of cover . I pretty much have same bad . I have a small axe, a full tang blade , a large tarp, a fold out silky saw , compass , along with a lot of what you carry. Great video by the way 👍
I have my truck, and likely a camping bag with a tent or tarp or both in it.
Living in the Southwest desert of Utah I always make sure that I have plenty of water a shovel in the back of my truck survival gear extra food blankets and I always tell people where I go cuz you never know when you're going to find yourself stuck in the sand with no cell service.
Very smart and multipurpose bag that you have. The video is very informative
in my bag I keep a Trangia, every gas station has dry gas, a single bottle of dry gas will boil 4 cups (2 in the morning 2 at night) of water each day for 4 days.
With that said, I have a few small suggestions of things to add:

2. a reflective emergency blanket - small lightweight, I think everyone knows why it's useful

4. caffeine pills or instant coffee, good for morale and keeping awake and alert in case you need to.
5. A bit of cash, you never know when that can come in handy
6. lip balm or vaseline. good for chapped lips obviously, but also cuts & scrapes and usable as firestarter depending on the type you get.
7. a bit of gorilla tape. great for basic repair and tons of other uses.
8. a pair of gloves. your hands are you best tools, espcially in an emergency you need to protect them.
None of these are heavy or take up much room, but can add a lot of flexibility and capability to your bag.
thanks for great videos as always.
A handful of condoms could come in handy too.
I have a small shoulder bag when ever I leave my home. It is my Bug Out Bag has all I would need to last a week or more. 2 ways for water 3 ways for fire a T6Zero Shelter and all kind of food. You have to have Water

Never leave home without it!
I need to bag one for the car! Thanks

I always have way too much stuff in my car. Partly cause of earthquakes. Mostly cause I can. Two solar panes like you'd put on a house. Lots of big lead acid batteries. Full size shovel. A little tent. Lots of water.

Fun video. I have the same concept as you, but with the vertx contingency 45l. The shoulder strap can convert it to a backpack. I’ll bring a small pack, haversack or waist bag depending on how far Im heading out.
Great tips. Watching from Ontario Canada
I FEEL QUITE DELIGHTED WHILE YOUR EFFORT IN TRIP AS BEING WOMEN STAY BLESSED DEAR ...love from kashmir
Thanks good video as always only thing I might add and I'm old school is a lensatic compass even without a map they can get you from a to b give grizz a treat
Pretty good kit. I would throw a tarp and some gaffer tape in there too, those always come in handy in surprise situations.
I wrap the tape around the lighter.
Very good 👍🏻
I always carry 3 days worth of food in the truck as well as a fully kitted bag.
I keep 2 go bags in my Jeep. One large duffle bag with enough stuff to live on for days (think heading down the wrong mountain road in a blizzard) and one small day pack with an old pair of sneakers, socks, sweatshirt and pants and other basic items (think soaking wet and cold).

Lots of great items. I'd include some kind of wet wipe
I want that pelican box....lol I keep a yeti load out box in the bed of my truck. basically filled with just about what you have. Love stumbling across good Canadian outdoors content 🤘🏻
Have always had a "go bag" in my vehicle, called be prepared. Kind of a boy scout thing.
Well thought out and changes can me made according to need's.
I have a similar edc bag. I also carried a few days worth of my dogs food in my truck along with my food just in case we got stranded somewhere.
The emergency bag is good prep...How about tools? A nut driver for hose clamps, flathead and Phillips head screw drivers. How about adding a collapsible bowl and treats for Grizz....thanks for the video
I have similar stuff in mine, it’s basically my hunting bag but I have everything I need to keep going for a bit if shit hits the fan.
Great bag Careena i have a bag in my truck and one in my house just incase you need to leave in a hurry ! Great ideas !
Great idea, thanks Chuck!

What's your take on good 'bush' knives to have available in a pack or 'get home' kit, other than a multi-tool?
My favourite budget friendly knife has to be the Mora Bushcraft Black. That would probably be the choice for my get home bag if I added a knife to it
@@careenaalexis Too right, a fine choice in knife, and broadly affordable across the board.
A good reminder that I need to upgrade the emergency kit in my truck. A breakdown in a bad location could be big trouble without some basic survival gear. Thank you again.
Thanks for watching, glad it was helpful :)
I have a go-bag but I don't keep it in the truck. Yep.
I like the video and all of the gear in your bag is great to have. I have to ask what it is you dislike about the Toaks cook pot?
Very informative Careena.
I'd recommend The Zeus power brick from uncharted company.
Very nice Charge TTI! The perfect tool to preppers, i have a Sidekick and a Streamlight ProTac and that tools make me feel ready for everything! Nice video Alexis!
Good video me and my husband kept a Storage container in are van and we just kept it in van just for camp ⛺️ 👍
I enjoyed your video, NM has a Cabela’s near my city.
I got some of those but I call them get to the woods bags !
Cool kit. Well explained and great visuals
I have a fixed blade knife as a backup to my leather man. I also never go anywhere without a whistle. Might sound silly, but that sound travels far. And I have found several animals don’t like that high pitch. Great video.
Thanks Rick!
What do you use as a sleeping situation?
I definitely keep a Stanley French press in all my emergency kits
That’s great if you have your truck all the way home. If you have to ditch the truck, you need a backpack of sorts.
Have fun
nice bag! You need a poncho with grommets in the corners for shelter, You already have the paracord. Otherwise you got most of the bases covered.
I would use my truck for shelter if there was the case where I needed it.
It's always good to have a bug out bag Melissa! Great idea, thank you!
Any time I travel more than a few miles from home, I have a "get-home" bag in the trunk or behind the seat of my truck. My bag is more designed for urban settings. Gonna get home, one way or another. Thanks for posting.
Very thoughtful and awesome bag, great video, thanks!
Nice kit 👍keep a small fire extinguisher just in case.
Looks good tho
I like videos like this bc you get to see what other people carry with them and you get ideas to either delete or add to your OTG, GHB bags.
This was great to watch, you gave me a couple ideas for my "Bug out" bag, may i recommend a cheap Poncho, Mylar blanket, and some aluminum foil for yours, they are easy to pack away. Anyway, thanks for sharing, All the Best and Happy Trails !
Great video! I actually have that same bag lol I use it as my fishing bag. Very good idea to keep a map of the area, never thought about that!
I also keep a GHB in my truck, has everything you got and then some. I'm a prepper though, so mines also more of a INCH bag as well. Everything I need to survive short or long term. Glad to see you're not just a beauty but you got the brains as well. Thanks for the vid 👍👍
Thanks so much for watching
I live in Washington and carry so much more my truck is basically my survival bag. Filled with tools, gun and ammo, case of water and food. My first aid bag is the same size of that whole bag. I guess I just think differently.
Thanks Careena ,
