Loved the food, awesome closeups, minimal gear (but the best gear) and beautiful outdoors. Glad I got to enjoy another awesome outdoors overnighter with you. Thanks. Cheryl GA 🇺🇸
Have camped mostly in a popup camera. I was in the Infantry and when l was younger ground sleepjng was ok. But my spouse drew the line if she were to tag along...up off the ground !! 😊 ln my 8th decade l brought and equipped a small enclosed cargo trailer so l cud boondock out west to see the stars. The point us thanks for reminding me about the cool survivalist cooking. Great job! 👍
You are a lucky girl, having bush to camp in. I really like the way you start your fire. I watch other campers light, or attempt to light it. I was taught to light it the same way you do it. Enjoy it while you can. I look forward to your next video. Thank you Wiz
When I was out in the woods almost every day, all day. My little buddies were aways the sane ones. Miss you and your buddy Grizz. There were many for me Duchess, Prince, Sambo...
Well some one is getting a warm spring ! Thanks for the lively, naturally skill laden bushcraft video. Looked so peaceful, I didn't even hear the owl hoot or a moose stomp about. New recipes, soon a book will be easy for release
Great vlog Alexis. Showing a simple way to camp for a lovely spring evening. Really important that you showed that you don’t need to contaminate the countryside by leaving rubbish behind. You left it as if you’d never been. Brilliant.
Good to see you out and about. Weather is getting to where you can enjoy it without freezing. Always enjoy watching your videos, but got to ask, how is Grizz doing? Haven't seen him in awhile. Hope he is well too. Been following him since he was a pup too. Had to shorten my woods excursion last weekend, whacked my hand with a Silky Saw so it's on the mend now. I'll be back at it as soon as I can. Got to get my hiking in before it gets to be kayaking season for me. Keep up the awesome videos, always enjoy watching them.
Ah that was fantastic! Inspired me to get back out again asap. Loving the simple gear, food and setup, amazing filming/editing too. Looking forward to more, all the best from the UK!
The quality of your videos is amazing. You show how you do things but also keep it interesting and don't let it wander into sterile how-to territory. Really great work!
Happy Spring Alexis very cool overnight camp. I have to say you have some real nice equipment especially the bushcraft Spain stuff really nice 👍 Have a great day be safe ✌️
Thanks so much Norman! It takes a long time and a lot of saving to get good gear but I just absolutely LOVE this traditional style gear!! It brings a lot to the trip for me to have good quality gear that is similar materials to what people have been camping with for decades! :)
Enjoyed the video. Even if it was just an overnighter I imagine it felt great to get out. I agree it can be challenging to cut down on plastics when you go on a longer canoe trip but I find even little thinks like washable synthetic bags for trail mix help. And that blanket from bushcraftspain looks so comfortable!!!!!
Thanks so much as always for watching Doug! I definitely need to look more into alternatives for my lightweight canoe trips! Haha and this wool blanket is AMAZING!
As always thank you so much for sharing a bit of bushcrafting in Spring. I enjoy your approach to no trace left behind and you doing what you can to avoid the plastic that will eventually take over the world. Peace Out from Old HIppieland.
Hey, you crack me up! Love seeing you out in the woods for sure! It just kills us single guys to see you do it by yourself but we know you got a good man. You definitely an outdoor gal and for this we appreciate your videos . Can't get enough of your adventures it is so refreshing to see your exploits!
Oh he's the ghost camera guy!! Well to those who miss her dog and mention company and protection they bring....as a guy with defective DNA l'd say he's almost as good as the puppy...give him a break he only has 2 legs!! 😅😂🤣👍
This was great. I love how you role model all sorts of good practices, such as putting out the fire, minimizing the use of plastic, and leaving the site pristine.
Great to see someone wearing leather boots that can put the fire out properly by crushing the burning remains of the logs, rather than synthetic sneakers that melt. The wool blanket also allowed her to sleep close to the fire without having to worry about embers. Wool also diffuses carbon monoxide when the fire dies down, rather than getting trapped inside.
Almost ten years ago, I hiked the Caps Trail up to Mt. Jefferson in early May, after the snowmelt, and the moose-dung was everywhere, after the melt; you could hardly go thirty feet without seeing more. Two weeks later, I hiked again with another buddy, and told him how much moose-dung we would see, and we saw none. I guess the bears had come in and eaten it all; I guess that's part of the ecology. I get back to New England once annually (missed 2020 to Covid restrictions), and I always enjoy your posts, because they remind me of getting back there (I'm in western PA now, and mostly hike here). Thank you for sharing your experiences with the rest of us.
Excellent video quality, very well executed and very relaxing to watch. I already had my oilskin matt, and oilskin/wool ground cloth from Bushcraft Spain. I just today received my 3x3 meter iolskin tarp from them today. I will be putting all of them to practical use next month at a historical reenactment as both a reenactor and demonstrator for the public. They really do make some nicely done bushcraft items.
Just crawled out of the deep woods myself, and doing another great video from you! Your commitment to Leave No Trace camping is inspiring. I toss a lot of veggies wrapped in foil on the coals- best way to cook ‘em! Keep on keepin’ on in the woods! Miss Griz a bit, but YOU make up for it. YOUR Bushcraft skills are greatly improving! Love your winter vids!
Great video. You could do 100's of videos like this . Food, Equipment and you. It's hard to beat. That steak! You were killin me. Perfectly done. Nice film work.
What a nice little get away. Thank you so much for your efforts to get away from single use plastic. Glad to watch the live-cast about Grizz finally doing well. :) I'm glad that, with your reach, you're one of the good ones. "Connect with Nature." "Don't do bad things to the planet." That looks like a great trip. Keep getting out there. Cheers Tim
Alexis, Hi' ! I comment here to express my gratitude to you once again. I attempt to make a brief summary and focus what your efforts here represent for me my friend . Mainly at about 75% I find therapy in your efforts with the balance being wool blankets , owls , and a sense of closeness with the Earth. In a most respectful way also a study of your hands , your hands and your dexterity in using them , is like that of a physician . Your approach to caution and safety mindfulness to handle sharp tools with care while alone in the wilderness brings a sense of security in the viewing experience also. `LIKED'
I stayed out in my woods behind my home one night and while the fire crackled as I lay there starting up, I was mesmerized by the orange yellow glow of the fire making shadows dance on the tree canopy and a large Great Horned Owl flew directly over me and it cast a huge shadow from the fire on the under canopy of the trees as I lay there in awe, truly awesome experience.
Aren't they so fantastic!! Absolutely love how high quality their gear is!! Pretty amazing stuff, and the guys behind the brand are just as awesome! Thanks so much for watching!
Thanks for this very pleasant and instructive video. Great ideas for gear, techniques, cooking, general camp setup. Looks like you had a very pleasant stay. This was, as usual for you, a very well-done video. Again, thanks!
That was delightful. I learned of your Ch. on the Canoe Hound's Interview with Jon and his Wife of the Lost Lakes Ch. It's going to be a pleasure spending time here, your Host Demeanor is charming, the content great and relaxing. Thanks Much, Blessings from Oregon ... Mike
Thanks Kevin!! It's pretty amazing gear, so cool to use the same materials people used to camp and explore with wayyy before our time!!! Thanks so much for watching!
Marriage material right here. A lot of today's ladies wouldn't know where to start . In fact a lot of guys too. Hats off to you. New sub for ya. Really impressed 👏
It's funny to think about how whenever a youtuber wakes up at a camp site and says good morning to the camera, they actually already woke up, turned the camera on, went back to bed, then pretended to wake up again for the camera. Always gets me. With that said, cool video. I like the waxed cotton idea. I've noticed myself using way too many ziplock bags as of late. I think I'll give that a try.
Great to see you out in the woods again, Careena. Enjoyed the video - especially how you set up a tarp like a boss. I’m too intimidated by the knots to try it. 😂
Alexis so glad to see you out there again I'm so happy about the great news about griz that's fabulous looks like you're finally enjoying yourself in the wilderness I'm so happy for you hope we can see more soon love always Freddie 😄👍🦴
