Little coconut tip: You can pierce one of the 3 eyes at the top of the coconut and then suck / pour the water out without having to crack open the nut and waste any water.
That's only useful with store bought coconuts. The ones she is eating are green with thick husk on the outside. She used the machete to cut the coconut out of the husk then cracked it to eat.
Elayna, one of the things I admire most about you since finding your channel and following your journey, is that you are a very independent and humble person. As a woman myself, I personally wouldn't be able to filet a fish or put up sail on a boat. Heck I can't even swim. I haven't heard you complain once about doing your fair share and I love that Riley doesn't let up on you just because you are a girl. And I love how proudly he looks at you when you accomplish even the tiniest things. For you to stay over night by yourself on a deserted island full of bugs and God knows what else... I commend your strength and courage girl. Make no apologies to anyone. You are incredible and as a viewer and fan, I am proud of you. Loved the part where the whale goes by. The hat scene was cute. Let's face it. Elayna is so photogenic, she could be stranded in an outhouse and still come out smelling sweet and looking like a super-model.
Why not do it together as a team? Live on an island for a week or two with just minimum equipment. I had a constant smile on my face watching this video btw! :D
Also, I think the lack of fins was a more realistic test. Think about it, when you're stranded, deserted, have an accident, are you able to pack? NO, you've got to use whatever you have on you or scavenge. You did great Eleyna! And I think you could have done three days there if you trained your mind more. I don't even think you called it off for your physical surroundings but more for your mental state. Or the book 1984 got to you.

Definitely not tighter, she had it right but has to sleep diagonally. Those banana hammocks though make it difficult. With a proper hammock you will never have a better sleep.
From what I'm hearing all hammocks are not equal, I based my statement on a US Navy canvas and rope hammock which was wonderful and it was relatively flat when hanging right

Longest I was ever alone was on a solo transpac from Portland to the Marquesas. Got becalmed for nearly 3 weeks at the equator with a busted injection pump on my diesel. Made the entire passage 89 days. No big deal. Plenty of water and books. Other people are overrated...until you haven't seen one for a while and its female. :D
What I would like to know is how on earth can Riley get and keep the attention of a young woman who is intelligent, educated, beautiful, has a sense of humor, and a thirst for adventure? It's heartwarming to know if Riley can, most of us men can!! An observation, a touch of class with just a wee bit of makeup on a deserted island. I know you did it for us. LIVE LOVE ENJOY

I spent 8 day alone on an island. But I has 2 rod n reels, cast net, and a small boat, which I only used to tote my gear thru inlets to tidal pools. I'd catch crabs along the way. Soft and hard shell, fresh fish. Cast for bait, minnows, shrimp, bigger shrimp to eat. Every night, fresh seafood platter. Tent, bag covers and a hammock. Which is quite comfy if you set in trees farther apart. The island and the tide supplies the rest. 4got 2mention 4 gal fresh water. Good on ya Mississippi Gulf Coast, USA ~rad~

You didn't set up your hammock correctly. Lots of videos on youtube telling how to do it properly. Check out stef roberts channel. He sleeps in a hammock every night.
You know how to meditate and that's the perfect time to do it. When you're feeling lonely and isolated sit-down and practice. Yesterday I was very hungry before I started meditation and it went away during meditation. It was amazing to feel meditation release my hunger pains.

Stomach ache for days if you're.....your body isn't used to a regular consumption of pure coconut. They use a lot of coconut based foods and oils so it may not affect her like it would someone like me. Great try Elayna! 👏👏😘⚜

You did good. Some people can live without others around and some can't. When I was (a lot) younger I lived alone in a cabin in Alaska and would go 2/3 weeks without seeing anyone but I was fine with it. All in the mind set.

Maybe you can see application to the sailing too. Key to Hammock is making is more straight across, tighter. And in a place where rain would not be an issue. Getting wet and cold can kill you if long enough. Firewood is sometimes hard to find, keep and/or get it burning. Thanks for sharing this with us.

Try to hang the hammock a bit 'flatter', the ends a bit further apart. This looked really uncomfortable indeed. But great little adventure, kudos!

yeah, you can string a hammock flat, and your weight will bend it more than enough to keep you from flipping
