It wasn't until I checked the audio with headphones that I heard the birds chirping in the background, ha! Worked out well for a little bit of a PBS vibe.
Absolutely! Damn, I have always ignored these brushes as I didn't know what to do with them lol and now a whole new world opened up! THANK YOU for the creator
I've been using Photoshop for 15 years and every time I watch one of your videos, it's like you translated an ancient hidden scroll that I couldn't make heads or tails of. The art history brush was just a hieroglyphic described by gibberish until I watched this video.
I have used photoshop almost daily for the last 15 years, but this channel blows my mind! I thought i new a lot, but all these techniques makes me feel like a newbie that just want to lesrn more. Thanks, and please keep the content coming!
I've been using Photoshop for the last 5-7 years and there are so many tools that just seem stupid until this guy just makes an art piece with and those tools then become my favorite thing, really grateful for your videos.
I've watched a ton of "this is how to make it look like a real painting" videos recently, hunting for the right technique for a project I'm working on. Some of them were okay but ultimately they still looked like filters to me, stuff that I would see and instinctively think, "that's Photoshop." I'd almost given up. Then TH-cam suggested this video and wow, I'm staring at the final image as I type this and it truly looks like a painting. If I saw this out of context, I'd think it was an actual painting that someone took a photo of. Really, really well done. I am super excited to use this. Thank you!
I came here to say that I watched this video on your website two days ago and to express my appreciation. THANK YOU! Your video just opened the door I have been knocking on for quite some time. I have been doing good work, but this technique - and those brushes - have been nothing short of a breakthrough for me. From reading some of the comments here, I can see I have company! : ) Really awesome of you to be so generous sharing your time and talent to produce this instruction - and your delivery is tremendously good, too. THANKS AGAIN!
Okay. First, a confession, lastly a compliment. In 20 years of using Photoshop I have *never ever* used the Art History brush. 🤪This will now change, thanks mightily to you! Thanks for the brushes too.🙏 You're a champion among men! 👏🏻

Hi brother....i have just saw your channel.. Tried to watch a few videos...but it went crazy..i just finished watching all of your videos...i believed im a professional graphic designer who knew all the things about photoshop.. You made me realize im still a student... You taught me so many great techniques in PS... And so greatful for that.... Please make more videos... Love ❤
This is incredible! Thanks for always bringing such unique content. A lot of people rinse and repost the same tricks - I stumbled on your page last week and have been nothing short of blown away.
Wow man! Your techniques are awesome! I've been using Photoshop since 1995 and never had a clue about how to do something like this. Congrats! Thanks for sharing
You are crazy talented! I've learned so many things I had no idea existed & these videos will help me with my abstract art, architectural renderings & fabric design. They are clear concise & fun to watch as well..
I wasn't sure I wanted ti watch a tutorial on painting in Photoshop. But I discovered your channel only recently and the content is really original, not to mention all the textures you provide. So I watched. And what I got was a masterclass in using a tool in Photoshop I had never even noticed before. Plus a crash course in custom brushes. Fantastic stuff. Thank you once again.
Definitely one of the best photoshop coaches! The way you use PS is absolutely amazing and a lot of the time I'm surprised how you even know this stuff. Absolutely God Level! 😍
This was an awesome tutorial. Thank you for the pointers. I'm a born again virgin Photoshop user (mouthful) and I have always skipped over Art History because I thought it was one of those things in Photoshop that's just there with little use. I can't wait to use it now along with the texture brushes for my digital work. Thank you, thank you, thank you! Subscribed 👍👏
I have to say I'm completely hooked on your tutorials. To the point, perfectly presented and easy to follow - with mindblowing results and the end. I'm not a graphics professional but I do need to whip up things regularly (covers, banners, posters) and while I thought I'm pretty proficient in Photoshop (well, the basics at least) these tutorials open up whole new ways of doing/looking at things.
@@Texturelabs The timing is perfect. I often watch a video from the couch then rewatch it behind the computer with Photoshop open. I love that I'm not constantly having to switch back and forth because of the pacing.
I'm totally awestruck - Brady, how come you're the only artist in the world to recognise, and describe so beautifully,, the well-hidden potential of this largely-ignored Tool ?
This is so insanely useful I am absolutely dumbfounded that I have literally never heard of this before thank you so much for this. How the hell other photoshop art youtubers I've followed don't mention this is crazy to me THANK YOU!!!!!!

You explain this really well. You sir, are a master of your craft. You make it easy and understandable and not just applicable to one certain image. It's a shame TH-cam won't let me give two thumbs up!
wow!! what!?!??? this is absolutely incredible! from time to time i stumble upon a gem like this one that just lows my mind is this one is right up there with the best ones! thank you for the inspiration and for sharing such amazing skills and techniques
Thank-you so much for this technique or rather showing how to use this tool properly. I attempted to use it a number of times; however, I didn't understand the fundamentals of this tool. You have opened an entirely new way of compositing photos and options for images that I have been struggling with when I am creating composite. The one feature that I like about the Art History Brush is how you can combine it with filter = stylize = oil filter. I find the combination of oil filter and the art history brush give a smooth refined finish to those images or sections of an image that don't want to play nicely with the oil filter filter alone. The Art HIstory brush acts almost like a oil filter that targets a specific spot of an image. You can smooth out those rough edges by using the art history brush and then apply the oil filter.
pure gem video! small advice from my side: try to divide your subject from background, as it is done during real painting. By that I mean you can select subject and draw inside of it using small brush so that after you deselect, you will see clear borders of your subject. Otherwise subject and background are kind of mixed between on edges (which is perfectly fine in case if that's artist's goal)
possibly the most artistic and creative tutorial for photoshop! i do paint abstracts in real life but this is a game changer!!! keep up the good work! :)
Dang boy, you are good damn good. I already knew how to use said tool a great deal but it's very interesting to learn here small nuances of everything else in such a small amount of time.
Cool tutorial. I think that is the best convert photo to painting I've scene. Every other one I've watched tries to insert too much control over the outcome so they're all much more complicated and take a lot more time. Thanks for this, it was very helpful.
Outstanding tutorial. Now I know what (else) I have been missing in Photoshop all these years. Thank you very much for another fantastic lesson from Texture Labs.
As a PhotoShop user since v1 I still love to see this type of tutorial. That said I've got to point out that this is not really painting, and the result is not a painting. It's a digitally modified photograph. At best it's a faux painting. I still applaud your PS knowledge, skills, superbly produced videos, and teaching style.
