How to do a Nissan fuel pump reset, Navara Pathfinder and Cabstar YD25 Engine

You need to to do a fuel pump reset every time you do a fuel filter replacement this will give you better fuel economy and help save you money in future parts ie Injectors, and fuel cost's.

WORKS .
1 ) OPEN CAR DOOR , GET IN , CLOSE CAR DOOR .
2 ) TURN IGNITION ON, AND WAIT THREE SECONDS .
3 ) PUMP ACCELERATOR PEDAL ( GAS PEDAL ) FIVE TIMES IN FIVE SECONDS .
4 ) REMOVE FOOT FROM PEDAL FOR SEVEN SECONDS ( COUNT TO SEVEN )
5 ) PUT YOUR FOOT ON THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL ( GAS PEDAL ) PUSH IT FLAT TO THE FLOOR FOR TEN SECONDS ( AT LEAST 10 SECONDS )
6 ) ECU LIGHT FLASHES ( ENGINE SYMBOL LIGHT ) LET IT FLASH FOR A LONG TIME A MINUTE OR TWO . THE ECU ( ENGINE CONTROL UNIT ) IS READING ALL THE SENSORS FOR NEW UP DATED VALUES ( SETTINGS) .
7 ) TURN KEY OFF . WAIT . START VEHICLE .
key values:
3 seconds of IGNITION on
5 pumps in 5 seconds
7 seconds of foot off gas pedal
10 seconds of foot on gas pedal flat to floor .
ECU LIGHT FLASHES ( THE ENGINE SYMBOL ) ECU IS NOW BEING UPDATED WITH NEW VALUES . ( the longer you let it read THE NEW VALUES , THE BETTER THE RESULT .)
Turn the key off .
WAIT .
TURN THE KEY ON ,START THE VEHICLE.
The instant response I got was far better performance.

I have just retried it and noticed ECU (ENGINE LIGHT) LIKES BEING LEFT ON FLASHING FOR A MINUTE OR TWO AS IT PATTERN FLASHES WHILE CHECKING .

Thank you Sir. I have just replaced the fuel filter in my 2013 pathfinder ( YD25 ). It would not start so I tried your trick. I left the engine light flash at different rates for about 2 minutes then turned off the ign then started the car. It idles a lot better now. I really appreciate your wisdom
Nearly changed one of these but decided on fuel filter and that was source of sudden power loss on drive. Great videos man !!

Dirk Kranen I've an xtrail t30. Could I ask Did your vehicle keep losing power when driving like mine is doing right now? And the reset worked? I'm at my wits end as to what the heck is causing it.
gary white My t30 is running without Problems since the fuel pump reset. More than 1200 km now without going to emergeny program (Not more than 2000 rpm. The only thing i did before was changing the air mass sensor.

d40 2010. i had stalling and hunting problems with the engine in the mornings and occasional stall stopping at intersections, ordered a new suction control valve from ebay $95 ($395 from Nissan) and has fixed problem, engine runs great, hasn't stalled once.

Excellent video and this was the problem with my xtrail HOWEVER you forgot to mention 1 incredibly important point- the potential probable reason why the suction valve failed in the first place! In my case it was caused through contamination and dirty in the fuel filter which I failed to change during regular maintenance. So I had my local garage replace the electronic component but within 10 miles .... same problem. They did not clean the fuel line and change the filter at the same time.. Thinking it was another problem I began changing many other parts.. but to no avail. Finally I consulted with a diesel specialist. When describing my symptoms they were ‘completing my sentences’ when describing the symptoms. They told me they’d see the same problem many time and they leant they needed to change the fuel filter ... else it’s back to square 1. Any way after replacing the suction value for the second time.. everything is running perfectly. So thank you for the great video and hopefully anyone who has the same problem now knows what to do. On a final note I did ask Nissan about this and my local dealer was clueless... they just wanted me to buy a new pump for £1500 fitted!

I don’t think any “resetting” is necessary.. but I’m not the expert here .. once the valve is changed and pipe cleaned … you should be good to go .. good luck

Just wanted to let you know that your video about resetting the fuel pump has helped me for the second time in three years. Somehow my 2004 x-trail gets confused and won’t start. It cranks, but doesn’t start. I don’t know why, but my guess it's got something to do with the engine not properly shutting off after moving the car a few yards. Anyway, when this first happened a few years ago, I thought ‘fuel pump’, so I dove into TH-cam and came across your video. I thought: let’s give this reset a try, can’t hurt can it? And, even though I didn’t get any flashing lights after the 3-5-7-10 accelerator sequence, my car started. As it did this morning, when the issue presented itself once more. So a BIG THANK YOU (I keep the sequence written down on a piece of paper in the car now for you neven know when).

Computer reads it as 0093 fuel leak
We can't find anything obvious reset the ecu put the boost up from 32 to 40 now no limp mode but will this kill my engine or turbo any info welcome keep it up I'll be watching cheers

we change the fuel pump complete and the accelerator pedal, we reset the ecu. it work fine for a few days then went into limp mode again. we did the manual fuel pump rest like you showed that didnt work. nissn navara vin#

Hi great informative video's. Im considering buying 2011 d40 king cab and you've kinda put me off this one is on 89000 and has not had timing chain change/upgrade. Is the D40 worth buying as from your vids seems like your just waiting for the next thing to go wrong.
And how much do you guys charge for upgraded timing chain kit and the labour to do it?

Nice video, and very helpful. I have a 2008 pathfinder that throws the code P0089 & P1275. P0089 clears and comes back after a few kilometers, usually when you idle and the car loses power and becomes sluggish, but the P1275 stays permanently and can't be cleared. I saw in your video that the socket of the SCV should be on the bottom and not on the top. What is the effect if the socket goes to the bottom.
Hello. You have great videos. This reset works for Navara 2010 190hp. I changed SCV but the problem is not better. I can not pass 3000rpm With out turnning on check engine light and lose power. I don't know what else to do. Thnaks

Brilliantly knowledged video. Perhaps you can help, i have a NV200 on 2012 year plate that will push start drive forever but if you stop and come back to start it - it will turn over but not start. you can push start it again and go. does this every time. what on earth is going on? is it the suction valve you just stated? thanks for your input if you can.

Sorry about the late reply i get your situation a lot FSH means nothing as it is a design fault on all YD25 engines i am afraid Nissan's are costly but at least you have found us and we will always help you fault find All the best Des
My Pathfinder has a rattle like your video about the faulty injector. It has also started to get jumping revs when pushing car up a hill in 4th. Car will change down (auto) to 4th because of hill and then the revs start to yo-yo. Rest of the time it cruises nicely. Is that a symptom of an injector fault?

hi mate I need to do a compression test on my nissan navara d40 2006. Ive been told to disconnect the fuel relay before I do the test. Where do I find this or what part do I need to disconnect the injectors in order to do the compression test?

Hi mate, hope you can find a few minutes to help me out. I have a problem with my navara d40 2006 automatic but i dont see any videos on your channel about it my problem. As i was driving home i felt a change in the way the engin was working it had a shake and lost its normal rythem, i pulled over and saw that the first rubber oil seal on the rocker cover had poped out and black oil was spraying out together with some smoke. I also noticed that when i gave it some gas there was white smoke coming out of the exhaust. What do you make of this mate? Any ideas? Thanks in before hand

Hello i have 03 pathfinder with fuel pump gauge not showing right fuel tried the steps you should on this video. I have 4x4 drive system gauge in dash dont show up when rear wheel drive not light then when i put it in 4x4 drive it dont show wheels its in 4x4 the 4x4 drive light is always on and so is vdc off light is awalys on as well any idea since im not getting any info on these problem thanks

my mate has a Nissan note diesel, having starting problem, we have fitted a new filter, when it starts it runs fine, but when you turn it of it will not restart even if you turn it of for just a few seconds, do you think it is a faulty fuel pump.

Accidentally I thought I should delete the fuel pump learned data. Well is not starting .
I reprogrammed the values of the injectors so they're correct.

Will this work on my 2006 V6 4.0 Nissan Pathfinder. If I have a P0463 will this meth clear the code I'm also getting a P0300 code. What I've done so far was I changed all my spark plugs and one ignition coil waiting for the other 5 coils to arrive I clean my throttle body and changed all my gaskets. The only gaskets I didn't change is the two lower manifol.

I have 1998 Terrano, I had my little trailer hooked up for the first time this year. While starting car at DIY store, she just spun over and over, tried it a few times then thought I'd disconnect trailer electrics. Another few tries and she started. Got home and switched her off, while I stored trailer, then she wouldn't start, dead battery click click click.
I have had better issues before, the cross head screw bolt attaching Neg battery is prone to loosen if she idles for a long time.
Tried jump starting her with my other car, no joy. . . just turned over and over.
Took battery out and put it on charge for the night.
Fired up computer and searched with "Google".
I found a mechanic on a forum saying to turn ignition off for 10 sec, then on for 2sec and repeat 3 times. Tried this in morning, but no joy.
Called AA for assistance, guy arrived and I explained what I'd tried.
He double checked the fuel relay in fuse box, had power and clicked when engine cranked over.
He then went to fuel tank to check "pump". . . had power supply but no sound or feeling of pumping. He eloped me park car on my drive (as it'd been on street overnight)
I returned to Google and there is no electric pump back there, just a sender unit with power to fuel gauge float.
I still think my trailer has blown or kicked out my immobiliser, or fried the engine management ECU. . . . . But would the plug in lighting board for a trailer effect the engine management . . ?
Any suggestions . . . . ?
Hi, I have a 2006 Altima that runs just fine but, after driving it for about 10-30 mins and try to start it back on it will crank for about 30 sec. to a 1min to start. Some people say that its the fuel regulator in the fuel pump. Any idea what could be wrong with it?
