    I just got this washer from Home Depot. A floor model for $447.00 with tax. I like the features, speed wash is great for a small load of gym clothes. I’ve done loads of towels, a queen size comforter. No complaints here. Compared to no old no frills Amana this is a rolls Royce!

    Thank you for showing that you can add the detergent while the water is filling the machine. When I was buying this GE, all the sales people said you have to put the clothes in first, then pour the detergent directly on the "dry" clothes, then add the water. I did not want to do that! My 35 yr. old Kenmore just died and I bought this GE. For 35 yrs. , I let the tub fill about 1/3 with water and added the detergent as it kept filling, then added the clothes. Worked beautifully!

      Slizzie1 in my opinion you need to let the machine start feeling up with water then add your soap so it can lather up really good then start adding your clothes if you have a top load machine 🤷🏾‍♂️

    • @erossinema8797

      @@roadtripboy It doesn't really matter. The detergent just disperses a little better if you put it in first. However all those liquid detergents can be used for pre-treating stains, so it's no big deal if it goes directly on the clothes.

    Thank you for making theses videos. I am in the market for a new washer and don’t want that lame 2018 speed queen so I am doing as much research as possible before I buy and your videos truly help. I like to be able to see how much water it fills up with and how it moves the clothes around and your videos allow me to do that. Thank you.

      Same with me, I had to educate myself on how these things operate. Try to find a 2017 SQ if possible. The Maytag MVWP575GW is great too:
      th-cam.com/video/O22radGdHVE/w-d-xo.html
      The 2018 Speed Queen is a well built machine for sure, I have had hands on training from the Speed Queen service school. The machine has less moving parts than the 2017 model. If it cleans well then it will be a home run for Speed Queen and the consumer. Most people do not like change, but Speed Queen was forced to incorporate a management system in their machines to stay compliant. I'm confident that the machine will perform as designed and excited to sell Speed Queen. The machine needs to be reviewed by the consumer and not a dealer that relies on selling new and used appliances. The feed back needs to come from the consumer which will have a greater impact on the market. Speed Queen will make changes if needed but not based on one unhappy dealer. I'm sorry but I am excited to sell a product that is designed and built here in the states.

    Question. Does the delicate cycle agitate slower?

  • @Intechdude300
    @Intechdude300 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Will be 6 years with this model this fall. My main complaint is that it doesn’t pour in enough water even on Max. No matter what, the tub fills halfway which barely touches the upper half of the agitator. I installed a 2-way splitter from the hot water so that I can top it off all the way like washers used to. The Deep fill rinse water level is actually fairly decent. I probably wouldn’t have bothered adding extra water if the machine actually added the same amount of water as the rinse cycle for the main wash.
    Second, I took off the latch from the lid and taped it down so that I can run the washer with the lid open and so that I can pour the water in while the wash is in motion. I feel the rinse cycle is a little bit too short, not giving big loads time to turn over enough times for a thorough rinse. I sometimes have to press down on big loads and comforters during the rinse to help beat out the soap.
    Lots of mold can grow underneath the agitator and the bolt that holds it down is terrible, too small and gets rusty. I ended up breaking it while tightening it back down, never once felt any resistance. I had to drill a hole so that I can force any random bolt in place to hold the agitator in place, that’s been holding for 2 years.
    Lastly, it can be quite a spectacle when the machine goes out of balance. Mine has moved forward a good 3 feet with only the power cord and hoses holding it from going any further.
    Overall I can’t really complain as I bought the washer new ( scratch & dent ) at an indie GE appliance store for $300. And it’s lasted longer than I expected. Might get a Maytag top loader next time , preferable from the commercial line.

      You are mixing too many garment and fabric types. Jeans with jeans, shirts with shirts, towels with towels only. These washers are a far cry from the sturdy vintage washers we are used to. As recent as the early 2000's----Those washers are considered vintage now. Don't ask Kirk anything. He doesn't know anything about the washers he makes videos of obviously. Do any of the new washers come with a lint filter? My old washer never came with it and it made washing my towels very annoying because the lint would never be removed properly. Forget about washing anything with velcro or acrylics and fleece because they are lint catchers automatically which damaged many clothing. Just by the sound this machine in video is making while washing would aggravate anyone.

It does have the porcelain top that I wish the Maytag had. I may order one in to film and sell it at cost. Even then it will be over $600.

      I just spent six hours rebuilding my coin op Whirlpool direct drive that I have in one of my buildings. New agitator dogs, new water level wash and rinse cycle air actuated control valve signals and four successive loads getting the water level right, new internal drain hoses, cleaned out the filter screen under the tub to the pump. It's performing perfectly for the first time in years. It was built in'92 and serves six households. I expect to get another year out of it and buy Whirlpool or Maytag coin op front loaders. The present machine is so old that the plastic parts both functional and cosmetic are brittle. But it performs great. I was considering the machine that I'd suggested and indeed it would be a difficult sale because every customer review says it blows!
      Could be a fun video though if we all get a chance to make fun of it.
      I was wondering if you had a chance to read my suggestions concerning the Whirlpool agitator models and how to outfit the correct agitator for those machines. I'd like to hear your thoughts. There were two posts responding to other viewers comments and my ideas.

    • @kirkrivas8172

      I'm pretty convinced I will order one next week. Do you have any SQ coin ops?

    • @LlyleHunter
      @LlyleHunter 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I haven't any SP coin ops. When I purchased this set Speed Queen's commercial machines had sustantially smaller capacity than the Whirlpool. In my other buildings I have Maytag coin op front loaders. I can't fit one in this particular property because there wouldn't be swing space for the doors to open. I'm considering the top loading Maytag. It should save utilities and it's going to probably be in the next year. Mechsnically the machine is great but all of the plastics are deteriorating and brittle. The laundry room isn't climate controlled, has an open window and jalisie doors that are open for ventilation and we're in Florida so the environment are harsh.

    Thank you for posting this video. The agitator seems very noisy almost like it's grinding against something but not really a grinding noise just a struggling noise like it's struggling to get through the clothes. I have an older Maytag that was made right before they converted to locking lids for top loaders. The agitator in a pre wash cycle moves far faster than this does. It moves about as fast at normal speed as this agitator moves if I double the speed on the TH-cam video. I'm just wondering why that is, especially for a Speed Wash? To be honest I think based on your video I am not going to get this washing machine. Now I know what others are saying when they say this machine is noisy compared to some earlier machines

    • @marysmith4811
      @marysmith4811 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Hi, I just got the 2019 version of this machine. It is NOT any noisier than the older top loaders. It also does NOT vibrate like people are saying. I'm convinced that those people are not leveling their machines. And when I say leveling, I mean getting the level out. As far as cleaning, I feel like it's been doing a great job. It even managed to remove some dingy ring around the collar type soiling off of a shirt. Granted it was not a cotton shirt, but still I think it did a fine job. It also does not feel chintzy to me. I bought the basic one ...4.2 cu ft. The only complaint I have is the matching dryer does not have a light inside the drum (when fishing for socks ;)), and it doesn't have that extra fluff time so that clothes don't get wrinkled. I have to believe that GE does this so that you are forced to buy the more expensive one. I say that because I have always bought cheaper machines and all have included these features. However, the machine that included these features was huge. I guess these appliance companies assume everyone has a McMansion today. Too bad that they don't offer nicer appliances in the smaller sizes too. Found that to be true with fridges as well.

    • @toxclegend
      @toxclegend 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Before you start the machine, when you turn the cycle dial, the cycle status lights will turn on letting you know what that selected cycle will do. E.g drain and spin turns on the spin light to show that’s what that cycle will do. I think the machine only soaks the clothes when you set it to whites heavy, deep clean, and delicates I think.

      It's the best bottom plate that ive ever seen on an agitator. I don't know why whirlpool isn't using the same bottom plate that they use on Maytag's agitator washers combined with the corkscrew upper unit used in the Roper built Whirlpool, Roper and Amanda machines. Straight vanes on a lower plate combined with the quick full rotation pulses on thes machines isn't a good idea. GE's two stage should set the mark. The Whirlpool is still better built. Whirlpool has it all in their tool box. They need to package it correctly.

    Locking the lid during the spin cycle isn't really a new thing. My old Frigidaire top loader from 2000 would do that. Only when it fills, agitates, and drains is when the lid is unlocked. It also lacked a tub brake like this GE.

      Hi Nikki. I just this set delivered today after switching out the Maytag Bravo impeller set. It was a nightmare. I can’t believe how we the consumers can be charged so much for something that doesn’t do what it was made to do which is CLEAN CLOTHES. Sooo I had Lowe’s to pick the set up and bring me this set because it’s as close to the old school washer as it’s gonna get. My washer filled up to Satisfaction indeed and it’s washing my clothes. Can’t wait to see the end results. The sound isn’t that bad like some are saying. However if your washer isn’t filling up, then you should contract the store and let them know right away because it’s suppose to Fill up on the level u select. BE SURE TO NOT SELECT “PRECISE FILL” the will fill only according to the wt of your load. I’m keeping my fingers crossed and praying this down grade is a great option. Good Luck.

    kirk I think this would be a good machine for a small family doing average size loads... this load seemed to handle well as an average load but, doesn't do to well on those extra large loads... Maybe if the agitator had fins instead of those humps it might do a better job at turning over a large load??? Once again Loved the video though. Thanks!!!

    • @LlyleHunter
      @LlyleHunter 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Fins wouldn't improve ciculation over humps. These humps are as high as most normal fins including Whirlpool direct drives, The of Maytag, recent Speed Queens. It's not as high as a Norge's agitator was. The difference is in the shape of the bottom of the tub. It's the same thing that makes a good blender. If it had a curved bottom like the old Maytags, the current Whirlpool, Amana and Roper machines and Speed Queen it would have turnover as all had been the best at it. High humps are a major improvement and should be combined with a two stage and perforations bored through the bottom of the agitator leading upward exiting through the sides of the upper agitator could substantially increase circulation. Having humps will eliminate piling on fabric (Those little fiber balls that form on cloth that's been laundered allot). I think that the washplate non center post agitator should use higher humps too for better circulation as well as angled bottomed tubs to facilitate rollover.

Also mine locks during the wash cycle and it sounds like it is dying a slow death! It does not sound like the agitator is moving very well at all. I put it on a large load and it filled to a medium sized load and with the deep fill option on it still was a medium sized load water level. We didn't have it a day and I called and they are bring a replacement tomorrow so we shall see if the one we got was defective or if it is just a crap machine!
