    I'm so very lucky. My neighbor fixes up all types of appliances and electronics. He sold us a washer like so and will fix it at anytime. The slight tears in my clothes are if I overload it. Besides that, the best washer ever. I hate new ones.

    Kirk thank you for posting it is such a pleasure to see a washer work that has a dial timer! I wish they still made them!

      This timer was noisy, you could hear it when the machine paused. I did not like the feel of the timer, it was one of those smooth action ones(no clicking when you turned the dial).

    Just installed a 1992 version that was given to us. It even has the fake wood trim at the top. I hated the GE front loader. Two towels could throw the pos out of balance. Aside from some shaking during the spin cycle, it's working great. I'll need to see if I can balance it better.

    We have had this washing machine since 2000. It has worked very well all those years but last night it stopped working. Hoping to find a washing machine that will last half as long as this one did.

    It's amazing how many years Whirlpool made direct drive washers. They first started making them back in 1980 and didn't go into full production until 1986. So from 1986 all way to 2011 Whirlpool focused on mainly their direct drive based machines. That's why you could find so many used direct drives on the used market today and for a good price too. 2011 was also the year the "new" belt drives came out which are of course still being sold today.

    • @YourLocalFireAlarmTech
      @YourLocalFireAlarmTech 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The new ones are horrible. I wish they would bring back the Direct Drives and make them all mechanical like they used to be!

      computeruser75 the new belt drive machines were such a downgrade from these direct drive machines.

    • @Dog-Lover36
      @Dog-Lover36 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Actually, direct drive washing machines, clothes dryers, dishwashers, including Kenmore, Whirlpool were first introduced during the late 50’s, including Suds Saver models and early 60’s and become more popular around the early 80’s.

    I'm only at 3:05 and I'm not sure if this would kill the machine but if it doesn't then replace the agitator dogs anyway as this will undoubtfully weaken them. I'd say that this machine was produced somewhere between 2000 and 2009 from the styling.

  • @fatboyyy1036

    This washer sounds so beautiful. I really like it. Is it a direct drive?

  • @fatboyyy1036
    @fatboyyy1036 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Is this washer a direct drive? How many amps does this machine pull a maximum of? How many hertz is this machine? How many volts is this machine? Did you find out what year this machine was built? What is the serial number on this machine? Yes, I do want to see the one blanket go through the whole cycle. Thank you!

    Old or new I LOVE Kenmores I think if you live in the country where you dont have a water bill these older machines are good if that's what you prefer but if water use is an issue the newer ones are your best bet and as long as you load them correctly and read the instructions the newer ones work just as well if not better I just bought a brand new 4.8 cu. Ft. Kenmore top load and I love it but there are top loaders that just dont cut it but do ur research with videos like this and find which one works for you i did and dont regret my choice

    There was no turnover in the wash or rinse cycle these machines from what I’ve seen always struggle with large loads

  • @WilliePeck
    @WilliePeck 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    It sure wasn't happy when it shifted into the final spin! It sounded like the clutch was making that noise. It took forever but it did eventually get up to speed. In my opinion it did well considering the machine was WAYY overloaded.

    I never cared for these washers. The agitators always broke. I grew up in a house with six kids and two adults. It got a work-out. Even if you didn't over load it, it would still wobble and shake. Always had to take off running and open it and redistrubite. A wet mess. Diane

      Bet it can be fixed for less than $80.00.
      Kirk if you have plumbing in your garage or a slop sink out there, I'd take it home and use it as a rag and garden/work clothes washer. If you have a slop sink but no other plumbing you could get the hose setup from a portable dishwasher and a cap for the hot water inlet from the garden center at Home Depot. It's good to have a backup just in case your main washer goes on the fritz with a wet load in it. I don't know if you took your old electrolux washer back home but as a.backup and something that is really crazy easy to repair I like this better. Just a thought. By the way, just in case you wind up with a little laundromat as a collection, never run two dryers at the same time in your home during business hours. Your electric company could determine that you're drawing too enough power during peak hours and classify your home at the commercial rate.

    • @kirkrivas8172
      @kirkrivas8172  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I still have my Electrolux here at the shop. I may take your advice and use it to wash the pets stuff. My house is small and cozy, not much room for an additional washer, it will have to sit on or next to the back porch. If I run two dryers, one will be gas and the other electric. I will probably take the Electrolux back to the house bring back the Whirlpool front loader and sell it and keep the Kenmore as a back up.

    This wash action would rip your clothes apart. Lots of water compared to clothes ratio was required to prevent that.
