David Lee Roth kept coming up as a possible influence, for the character, though so I think it is him. Plus Gene Simmons" make up. If memory serves I think David Lee Roth had some involvement with the show's production, like he played an instrument for it. There is a pretty impressive list of rock royalty involved with Metalocalypse. It really is an incredible show.

It is a pretty sad film in general but it had a bonus piece of melancholy because it is the last time I will ever see these characters. I am glad to have had the opportunity to give them a proper send off. They have been part of my life for a really long time and I was too distracted by the Venture Bros movie to give the Army of The Doomstar the attention it deserved when it first came out. I just remain grateful that Adult Swim was a thing and remains to be a thing. Smiling Friends is really popular and it is great to see that adult animation continues to be going from strength to strength.

I have been stuck in a Venture Bros rabbit hole for years and I figured this was an equally rich Adult Swim based rabbit hole to spend a bit of time in. One of the weird side effects of making these videos is that I constantly find myself getting a massive kick out of the fact that not only that these shows exist, but I have had the good fortune to see them. If I hadn't found myself idly flicking through the channels all those years ago, then I wouldn't have discovered them. I am so relieved that I did.
CCCHello. I absolutely loved making this video. It was hilarious and on a few occasions I needed to walk away from the camera because i was about to blow a funny fuse. I always looked forward to Rockso showing up on Metalocalypse, so it was nice to have a trip down memory lane.
@@marcmcvey1844 I strongly recommend it. It is very different to the Venture Bros in tone and storyline but it has a real heart and quite a lot of character development. I binge watched over the course of a few weekends and I really got sucked into it. I am rather sad to have finished the saga.
@@DocLunarwind I binged watched the whole of Metalocalypse over the course of a few weekends. It is very different in tone to the Venture Bros, but has its own charm. I am not even a fan of Metal, I prefer Post Hardcore, Grunge and Indie but even so, the music is really good. I used to watch it when it was on TV as part of the Adult Swim block and I kind of enjoyed it, but the episodes are only 15 minutes long so it was difficult to get immersed in it, but as a binge watch it is very easy to get invested. There are even 2 full length movies at the end of the saga. Brendan Small and the other creators tour from time to time and next time they visit the UK I am definitely going try and see them. Even if they aren't my usual type of music, I can hear how talented they are.

I don't know what it is about Dr Rockso, if it's that God damn voice done by Tommy Blacha (who was also Sky Crooner in American Dad) if its the fact that I lost my fear of clowns once I got into my young adult years (blame the clussy) or if its the COCAINE!!! But something about him just pulls me in every time, I hate to see that he was yet another 80s musician who partook in PDF file activities, like that shit was ok because it was apart of the times, but i still just love me some Dr Rockso, the rock and roll cloooown, COCAINE!!!
I feel like Rockso was a work in progress in the first season. Rockso was actually introduced in the series as a rock-and-roll themed party clown. He performed at Murderface's birthday party. He was later retconned to have been a musician himself as a parody of Kiss and Van Halen. He was popular enough to perform for MTV, and yet when Rockso plays the video for "I'm Just a Rock n Roll Clown," Dethklok doesn't seem to be familiar with his work as a musician.

I found him funny on the first watch. bearable at the second. On 3 and 4 I hate him as much as Nathan does :D He was mean to toki and a PoS towards him except for two locations. I had also forgotten he was a pedo, which didn't help his case - I still wonder why they chose to do this and if it's a parody of a specific musician. but the show did make it "not a big deal" which was kinda weird. Idk if the Doomstar took him out, but he wasn't at the end crowd... I'd still be strange if he died off-screen tho.
I like to think he died symbolically during the Doom Star Requiem. If not canonically, I mean the show has finished so that is the last we will see of him. Nubbler isn't a great person either, but he is much better than Rockso so he was given a dignified ending but Rockso was treated as an annoying joke character right up until the end. Which is all he deserves. I think the Dory McLean storyline was handled properly in universe. He was sent to prison and the gotcha journalist who interviewed him really let him have it. It's just Dethklok themselves who didn't really condemn him, but I get the impression that they didn't really understand what had gone on. Plus they had a lot financially invested in the Zazz Blammymataz reunion tour, which made them lose any morals they may have once had.
This is the first video of yours that's ever come up in my recommendations. I do have some initial constructive criticism: The first 90 seconds are a bit redundant and disorienting, as the "coming up" comes up as soon as the intro ends, the constant cutting back and forth in the middle of sentences makes it feel like the video is buffering on an unstable connection and keeps freezing. I think cutting down on the cuts in the beginning would've made for a more viewer friendly intro. Personally I feel like throughout the video you don't really need to introduce the clips with "as you're about to see" and such. Just providing the details and then cutting to the relevant clip would improve flow. Sorry if I am coming across as harsh, I like the actual content of your content I just think the presentation could do with a bit of streamlining. Best wishes to you and your channel going forward!
