Jance, I'm an experienced boutique owner, but I want to let you know your video is very informative for beginners. There are people charging $400-700 for an online course on this same topic. It is great that you offer this to your viewers for free. I wish you the best in your endeavors!
Thank you so much for your knowledge! People always joke about how you can’t believe everything on TH-cam however I take quite a few online classes for college and they usually consist of professors sending us links to TH-cam videos. There is so much knowledge here and thank god for boss ladies like yourself! (Most people aren’t willing to share their skills/info)
Yessssssssssss I loved your webinar. It was very insightful and helpful because I'm finally getting ready to let go of this fear that has been holding me back and down for soooo long. Owning my own boutique has always been a dream of mine. I feel now is my time to shine!!!! Thank you again and may God continue to bless you and your family 🙏😊
I just want to tell you how thankful I am for this video! It is jammed packed with information that no one else wants to share. Thank you for taking the time to put this together. I am definitely going to use many of the tips you gave for my boutique. I’m excited!
I just wanted to pop in here and say a BIG Thank You! I am in the early stages of planning to open my own online boutique. This video was so informative and I definitely feel more confident after watching it in its entirety than I felt before I hit the play button! I will even say that the majority of my anxiety has dissipated so again, thank you and Blessings to you! I also purchased your book and I am awaiting it's arrival...
No idea why anyone would thumb this down. People are weird. That's for sharing this info. The clothes has been where I want to go especially for sexy gear/lingerie, shoes, etc.
Many Thanks Angel! Sending virtual flowers as a thank you for being so transparent with your knowledge. You are the type of boss I could rock with. You are not worried about sharing a market that we all can eat from. Your confidence and giving is contagious! God Bless You and Your Business Lovie!
I was wondering if you did not see my question or is it because I am not a sole owner of a store but sell on ebay, but during this whole teaching about opening a store I want to Thank you for everything. I am so motivated and worked during the whole webinar and learned so much from how you told all of the people listening about how to get your store and contents noticed and maybe sell some of our items. I believe the Lord will also guide us if we ask. Thank you so much for all this content. It was wonderful.
You are so pretty and so young looking! I was shocked when you said you have worked retail for 12 years! You just don't look old enough to have worked that long! Thanks for all your input! I sure do appreciate you!!!
I can’t tell you how long I’ve been looking for this exact kind of video- but you offered more. I came by yours by accident and I am so grateful. You are so generous with your information. Thank you. I actually have so much more confidence after watching this. Are your slides available to download anywhere by any chance?
Business credit- to establish formal business credit you have to set up a Dun & Bradstreet account. But some institutions will look at your personal credit if you don’t have enough business credit established. VERY helpful video. I am in the process of starting my boutique & you gave me a lot of good ideas.
Thank you for the information. I am planning to start soon and this is so helpful and honest. I appreciate you sharing the vendor information. I noticed not many youtubers wanted to share that. Thanks again.
Just finished your webinar!!! Absolutely loved it, thank you so much for all the great information. I learned so much and wrote down notes the entire video. You have a new subscriber! I’ll be binge watching all your other videos
Love your power moves! By taking the time to empower woman and encourage them to be their own boss!! I have a question I tried to find an answer in all your other videos but didn’t see it so I figured I’d ask? How do you feel about Shopify? Would you suggest to start there then she enough funds come in and branch out and hold you’re own inventory?
I think Shopify is a great option for new boutique owners. It's pretty simple to figure out. The only downfall is that there isn't much opportunity to customize your site without paying a hefty fee.
Thank you for your humility and sharing your knowledge and experience. There are so many insecure ppl out there. So thank you again! May God bless your business and all your endeavors!
Hey Queen, can you do a video geared towards the question on "what portion of the sales should you keep and what portion you should put back into the business?" I know you answered it, but I did get a little confused with I'm assuming, how you answered it, and I'm sure I wasn't the only one lol. But if you can possibly do a separate video on that topic would be greatly appreciated love!
hey sis blessings to you and your family. new subbie here. I'm so glad I came across your video. I just prayed over this move last night. you have taken the time to explain how to start a boutique business and I made sure I listened and took notes throughout your whole video. thank you so much for sharing all of those gems. you really helped me a lot. thank you again and I hope to get started very soon. I will stay in touch for sure. St. Louis is my hometown born and raised there. Again thank you for all your help, i really appreciate you sis. God Bless 🤗
Great question! I have a two-fold thought about this. 1.) I think it could depend on the circumstance. If you're doing a photoshoot that requires the model to be in the article of clothing for long periods of time, I would say "budget" that into your budget each month basically as an expense. And instead of paying the model in cash, you could pay her in the clothing she wore... since her body already spent a reasonable amount of time in it. 2.) If the photo is quick and the model wasn't in the item for a long period of time at all, I would say think of it as an "as is" item meaning you would let it be known to the consumer that this particular item is not in it's original packaging. You don't exactly have to tell them why it's outside of the packaging, but it's worth mentioning. You can also offer a small discount on these items. Think of it like the mall and how customers buy items that have been probably been tried on by various other people before they purchased it. Hope this helps :-)
hey Jance 59:00 minutes you was speaking on pricing items im confused do I add the shipping price from the wholesale buy to the product ? LIKE EXAMPLE MY ITEM WAS $5 and they charged me $5 for shipping is that lost cost or will it be $10 product cost for me
Half way through and I must say I am learning a lot. And this isv the first video I've watched thats gone in debt and answering pretty much all the questions ive been confused about. Especially the LLC vs. Sole proprietary. The irs couldn't even answer that one lol But back to video....lol
This was also good because there are moments that I feel like maybe this isn't a good idea. There's so many different boutiques out there and it can get overwhelming and discouraging. So, I like the numbers and statistics you used.
I’m confused. I have a question. @54:29 you stated in the example that the profit is $1500 but that’s not necessarily the take home pay because it costed $1200 to purchase inventory. So shouldn’t the profit amount be $1500-1200= $300? Any how many times do you have to keep “flipping the profit per say” to make enough to leave your day job? I know people tend to use the money to reinvest back into the business but at what point do you pay yourself?
Good night, my heart, I have never thought about putting your books in Spanish or putting something to work with Hispanic people. I want to buy your books, but in Spanish I feel more comfortable to learn.
I love this Thank you, You answered a lot of quiestions. I watched a few other videos and they were very secretive and not this helpful. Im greatful to you.
Thanks so much for the great detailed information and inspiration. Was wondering if you can give some advice I am interested in doing a clothing Boutique but also a crafty/crafted decor and animal toys, personalized items ect Boutique would you personally leave them seperate or keep them in the same Boutique.
Omg thanks for putting this up ive missed the live webinar....and i forgot...i was being a mother to a toddler and infant but am glad you did your so helpful for womens that want to be bosses and glad your so transparent to were you get your clothes some dont say because they think they will not be unique any more but the uniqueness is us womens with different background and shapes and sizes 😍🤗🤗
Hi! Your videos are so helpful. I'm about to transition my handmade jewelry business into an online boutique. My question is, when I tag other jewelry brands or any brand that I will stock in my shop (mainly IG) when I'm marketing....what prevents the customer from just buying from that brand directly? I'm sorta stuck on this. I don't want to mislead my followers that I am making all these things, but at the same time, how do I keep business in my shop? Is there a tactic for this?
My barrier are confidence and knowledge.....i have always been this way but my husband his really out there more then me and his the one pushing me pushing the person that i cant myself do it..also his been in buisness since he was a kid
Square is a POS system (Point-of-Sale). They have an app but it's more for tracking and processing sales. Barcode printing is part of the program that we pay for each month, called Square for Retail.
so before I watched your video a guy stated in his video that you don't need to get a LLC if you have no assets to loose , he also said that LLC's are expensive . your thoughts on that ?
Forming an LLC has a different cost in each state so costs depends on what state you’re registering in. He is correct. You don’t NEED an LLC if your have no assets to lose. But, as your business grows, which most people expect their businesses to do, you will have assets. If you have any risk or chance of someone possibly suing you or opening a case up against you, not having an LLC would run the risk of your personal assets being affected (because all of your money would be funneled into one account since you would be a sole proprietor in this case). But having an LLC would separate your personal assets from your business assets. Really, it’s a personal choice whether to form an LLC from the beginning or down the line. For me, it only cost $50 for my first one which was in Missouri so I didn’t think that was too heavy a cost so I did it from the beginning. My second LLC was in Illinois which cost I believe either $150 or $250. I waited on that one until I was actually making money.
Hey, I went into looking to apply for my state's EIN, currently I plan to start off as a soley online but I ran into the problem about a physical location.. would this be a problem for me being that I plan to stay online for now? Hope this make sense! & thank you for your informative videos!

You are a blessing to us girl...
Heyyyy...I'm just starting and need a mentor and these channels are giving me so much inspiration
And that is the reason we love you!!!!
A video on how to set up pop up shops would be helpful.
Oooohhhh that's a really good topic!
Jance Chartae people with brink and mortar locations talk about pop up shops, but I’m sure is a little different for online stores
Yes, i totally agree
For the items that we have to use for photoshoots, would you recommend still selling that item? Or giving it to your model?
Great question! I have a two-fold thought about this.

Hi Jance! You mentioned you used square for bar-codes. Is that like a website or app?
Square is a POS system (Point-of-Sale). They have an app but it's more for tracking and processing sales. Barcode printing is part of the program that we pay for each month, called Square for Retail.
Jance Chartae Ok, great! I’ll look them up 😊. Thanks
Regarding your packaging things, where do you get them from if not from Alibaba or aliexpress?
