    Hey guys! I'M BACK & I AM A MOMMY! I have been away for 3 MONTHS on maternity leave which is unbelievable, on December 1st I had my miracle baby after 15 years of infertility! I said in this in the description BUT I want to make it BLATANTLY CLEAR that I have ZERO issues with hospitals, with epidurals, with c-sections, none of that. I think EVERY way that ANYONE wants to birth is valid, beautiful and their own. Everyone has preferences, for instance, my best friend chose to schedule c-sections for herself - that is HER preference and I think that is amazing. My other friend had a home birth with a midwife & doula - her choice her preference. My other best friend chose a hospital birth center with epidural - her choice her preference. I do not EVER judge or care what ANYONE wants to do in their birth. I think the same goes here - if someone had wanted a scheduled c-section and ended up going into labor and giving birth at home - that could be very traumatizing for them - As it was SO different from their birth preference, ya know? It has nothing to do with feeling like one birth is "better" than another - because I do not believe that. Just way different than anticipated. Hope you enjoy the video!

    I'm a male UK Paramedic and I have seen many shares of traumatic births. I just wanted to say to ALL women that you are amazing, you astound me with your bravery, tolerance to pain, and sheer determination even when put far too much pressure on yourselves. I hope that your Trauma heals over time and that you are receiving the best help to work through it, I have no doubt what wonderful parents you and Zach will make and have watched you for years. I'm a gay guy I've never watched you for makeup tips but your personality and storytelling captivate me whenever I watch. I've been so busy in the last year with ongoing global catastrophes to spend time catching up on what has been going on. I missed the fact you were even pregnant, so this has been a wonderful binge-watch over Christmas 2021. I wish you all the best over the new year and the coming years...

    As a NICU nurse, I truly believe your midwife was your sons hero that day! Even though she wasn’t able to be there for the delivery, getting you guys to the hospital was crucial. Let’s not forget....you and Zach LISTENED to her advice. Never forget what an amazing advocate you were for your son on that AMAZING day!!! Thanks for sharing such an important story! So much love to you and your beautiful family! 💗💗💗💗

    I so admire your bravery to open yourself here. I was in labor for 48 hours with my first child, which has become a non ending source of great fun for our family, and since he has a WONDERFUL sense of humor, and he knows how much we love him, he LOVES the teasing and gives it right back! Lol Around the time he turned 15, 16, I used to wake him up 48 hours before his birthday, and would whisper "Justin...48 hours" . When he was working in another state, he called me COLLECT, so as a Mom I'm all worried something happened. Instead, he just said "48 hours Mom. Love you"" and hung up. Even his sister gets in on the joke. Her favorite line is "48 hours of labor, and THIS is what we got! It's all done/said with great love. He's 45 now, and Still loves this joke, so it lives on. My only piece of advise is "enjoy your son"

      Anyone who knows you, meaning your channel, knows how prepared and ready you were! You made it your literal job, you learned even more that you already knew (which was a lot) and you are so self aware and responsible. You're gonna be a great mother, one that inspires so many to keep pushing on and to be down to earth, all with love, care and compassion. The negative comments, by strangers (or not) are nothing more than garbage blow in the wind and they have one thing in common: they don't know you, don't understand you and lastly but not last importantly: they can not be about you. Why? Because if they indeed did know you, they simply wouldn't exist. No one is perfect but you are close to that perfection momma, and your husband and your beautiful baby know it, and they are the only ones that matter.

    • @jenniferford2067
      @jenniferford2067 3 ปีที่แล้ว +137

      It’s so true. Downplaying traumatic birth means women aren’t prepared and then when it happens to them they feel like they can’t talk about it. 22 years later I can still remember the attitudes of “you have a healthy baby why are we still talking about this?” I got when trying to process my own traumatic birth experience.

    Honestly everyone makes fun of women who do their hair and makeup and shaving and all that before going in for birth, but the truth is there is a lot of time before it’s going to happen and these little mundane tasks can kill time and be so self-soothing. Grooming and taking care of yourself is a really great way to calm nerves.

I am 70 years old and I still remember the labor I felt and I went through when I gave birth to my twins 51 years ago and my daughter 54 years ago and each one in labor over a day and a half, . it is so easy how people down play women in childbirth, but when I was young old folks used to say that a woman having a baby was a hair away from death. Now, to date women are still dying during childbirth even with all the medical technology, so every one needs to know that becoming a mother is so much more then getting pregnant and pushing.!! My heart goes out to you, dear! I also had a very traumatic birth. I was prepared mentally for it to be bad, but what happened surpassed my expectations tenfold. Everything was going well until the actual birth. No matter how hard I pushed it just wouldnt come out. 30 mins later the doctor literally stuck his hands in and pulled it out. Turns out the baby was tangled in his cord 3 times. But I kept bleeding out. Was under general annestesia two times while they tried to save my ovaries, as well as my life. Spend 24h in reanimation, got 4 banks of blood and lots of other stuff, 4 days of continuous pain, 4 days bedridden without being able to see my child. I was so exhausted physically, mentally and emotionally that I couldnt even feel the happiness when they brought my son. I felt so guilty about it and the memory still haunts me almost 2 years later. There are details I am sure I wouldn't be able to share with anybody.

I had my 1st daughter at 23 and I am now 40 and so I'm nervous that things might be different this time around. Your story took me threw an emotional roller coaster for sure but it's exactly what I needed because, things absolutely can go any which way...I feel close to you without knowing you but I've cried with you, smiled, laughed, worried, celebrated with you and when you brought your son out at the end...I automatically had love for you guys. Thank you for sharing your raw truth. It's real and it's necessary because it's not all rainbows...it's scary and women are absolutely phenomenal! There is no deeper most precious love on earth than a mom n her babies... Your so strong. We're all so strong and don't know it till we're faced n in the thick of it and come out the other side and say I can't believe I just did that lol...your beautiful family is blessed and I just thank you for ur testimony mama...❤

    As an L&D nurse I wanted to say I’m so sorry you had such a traumatic experience. Every second feels like a year to everyone in the room including nurses when a baby isn’t crying and it is understandably traumatizing. And in those moments it really is silent to the point you could hear a pin drop as you described even though the room is full of people all working like crazy. All of your feelings, preferences, plans, experiences etc for you (and any mother) are valid and should never be judged or compared to anyone else’s birth experience. No one better comment anything shitty you’ve been through enough already Mama. Glad he ended up being a happy, healthy little chunky baby in the end.

      Can I ask you if the lack of oxygen when being born after strangled by a cord, is dangerous? It happened to me and I ended up getting autism and I suspect it was cuz lack of oxygen when I was born.

    • @conniechats6160
      @conniechats6160 3 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      @@mildlynerdy of course there are some “bad apples” in every field, but I think the majority of us are supportive and non judgmental. But never be afraid to stand up for yourself and ask for a different nurse if you’re not vibing with the one you have. Your birth is about you and you should feel comfortable and supported in any birthing experience and choices you make.

    • @conniechats6160
      @conniechats6160 3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      @@Luna-ii4mx I honestly don’t know if there are any links that have been made between autism and hypoxia (low oxygen), but I can say that the cord being wrapped completely or draped (like a scarf) around the neck or the body is fairly common and most have good outcomes at birth. I don’t know the long term effects of it of course because as a nurse we don’t see them long term and get to see how they develop, but the majority of tangled cords have normal oxygen levels during the postpartum period they are in the hospital.

No birth is the same, and every woman experiences different things. My birth was not what I planned, my daughter had to come a month early due to my body failing her (I had GD as well). I went through a 5 day of failed after failed inductions and it was so traumatic for me. I’m still healing. And that’s ok. I wish you nothing but positive, healing energy in your motherhood journey. I also really didn’t want the epidural, but afterward I said “I regret nothing” and I fell asleep. Gave birth 8 hours later. It humbled me greatly and made me have compassion on all the moms before and after me. I did go on to have another and it was easy, 6 hours first contraction to holding baby. Was 6cm when I arrived at the hospital and I was hardly uncomfortable yet. Wow is every labor different. No regrets on my epidural first birth!

This experience pushed you to get the help you needed with therapy, and focusing on your mental/physical health that you had pushed off for so long. Your baby came into your life for such bigger reasons, such a bigger purpose.

      I am totally with you. When my seventeen year old son was born it was horrifyingly traumatizing. After days of brutal ineffective labor we had to have an a emergency cesarean and I had no pain meds and felt it all. It was discovered during the surgery (during which 6 people physically held me down because I was screaming and flailing in pain) that I had a bandl's ring. Thanks to that ring, both of us nearly died. I had never heard anyone talk about a traumatizing birth and I felt like I had failed. I had no one to talk to who understood and no one I could relate to. I loved my midwife (she stayed through the birth despite having the surgeon take over) but she accidentally made me feel worse at my first post birth appointment by telling me it was the scariest birth she witnessed in 20 years. I felt like there was something very wrong with me. I went through terrible PPd, ptsd etc. I wish I had heard Kristy's story back then. I wouldn't have felt so alone. I would have looked at Kristy and known she had done nothing wrong and hopefully would have seen myself in a more positive light. Kristy is so brave, strong, and generous for sharing this. We were not owed her story, but she shared so other women could hear. This is so much better than the hushed way no one would speak about difficult birth stories when my baby was born. Im am amazed and humbled by Kristy in this moment.

      Crazy because I am like you I'm feeling her story because I have exact same thing happen but even crazier because now I'm reading your comment and I got pregnant the very first time I had sex a month before I turn 18 probably TMI but anywho I had my daughter when I was 18 she's now 23 and I had the exact same thing happen and although I was expecting to have a normal birth I was 2 weeks overdue had to go into the hospital they started pitocin overnight and the next day I still haven't dilated and my water still hasn't broke the increase my pitocin eventually broke my water for me it resealed they broke it again and with an hour after that which at that point was about 9:30 the second night a nurse was in my room started screaming down the hall next thing I know there's 15 people around me putting oxygen on my face and pushing my whole bed down the hall saying I was at the emergency C-section I was so scared mind you I'm 18 so I'm sure that didn't help but I just started the crying and could not stop I thought something was wrong with my baby I thought I was going to lose her but I will say also after my c-section at a beautiful healthy baby poor Christie but some of our bodies just aren't meant they have babies naturally I guess because three kids later every single time even the second time when I went into labor on my own on time and my contractions we're a minute and a half to 3 minutes apart for 48 hours 2 days with contractions around every two minutes and that one time with my body dilate past 2 cm on its own but also not one time would my water break on its own I literally feel like there's something wrong with my cervix where I just cannot dilate but I also feel blessed to be able to get pregnant at all especially three times when there's people out there like my sister who's ever gotten pregnant on her own and can't have kids and Christy who it took 15 years and didn't think she'd be able to have kids

    I totally understand what you went through. I was in labor 39 hours and 36 minutes with my first son and the Patosin contractions are horrendous. I don't wish that upon my worst enemy. I ended up having to have no pain medicine because after they started the Petosin first few hours his heart rate and my heart rate started dropping, so therefore, I could have no pain medicine for the contractions. So I went in on Monday night, so started having the contractions shortly. , went until Tuesday morning without anything. Finally, they were able to start giving us a little bit of pain medicine. When tea and our heart rate started staying steady unfortunately, it happened again and they had to stop the pain medicine again. So I went all the way until Wednesday morning at 9 AM with no pain medicine so I totally understand. What you say about the Potosin. contractions. Thank God when I finally got my epidural. I was able to relax my water broke. And they had given me till 12 o'clock to have my son. Or they were gonna have to do a c section and I was petrified of them cutting me. I did not want that no matter What I finally about 10:30 started.Having to push and I gave birth to him at eleven thirty six that morning but I am it's so grateful that I didn't have to have A c section.

      My mom was in labor with me for almost 72 hours.... The doctor that delivered me almost killed us both because she was on the labor hormone for too long. Made it out okay obviously, but another woman wasn't so lucky as he let her bleed to death. As far as I know he was sued and is no longer practicing. She wasn't supposed to be able to have kids too and now she has three. She had PCOS and every time she had cysts removed and ended up pregnant

    I had my daughter 13 years ago and NO ONE talked about what a woman’s body goes through after they give birth. There are millions of books about pregnancy and birth then is like, “ok, you have your baby now, carry on, go be a mom”. I’m so glad that women are willing to discuss postpartum and help women know that they are not alone.

      I commented something like this about 2 years ago on another video that everyone will talk about healthy eating while pregnant, exercises, how to get a room ready, items to buy, what bottles are highly rated, what to pack to go to the hospital, and a million other things, but NOT ONCE did anything ever mention what to expect during postpartum.
      Someone replied to my comment saying I could easily google it and it's my own fault for not being prepared. How does one prepare for something they're not aware of? I understand post surgery healing and such, but I honestly had no idea about the nuances of postpartum recovery until I was thrown into it. That reply to the comment still irks me 2 years later. Loll

      I agree with you 100% I had my daughter 15 yrs ago this July and im still traumatized from giving birth. I instantly had post partum and was treated for it for literally yrs shit even now. The epidural didnt work I was like the exorcist. I swear my head spun. And let me tell you when i finally got my 9lb baby out they didnt even let me see her nm put her on me. Then hrs later i started to hemorrhage and was rushed to the OR for a DNC i passed out and didnt see my baby till the next day.

      @@RandyButternubs917 I dont blame you. It irked me just reading it. So either that person didnt have a baby yet or wasnt blessed with post partum. We may let a comment irk us but we were strong enough to over come what we had to go through. For the most part lol.

      @THISIS THEGIRLI think everyone is different. I'm an OB nurse who is very educated about post partum and was completely blind sighted by it. For me it made me feel I was a terrible mother so I saw those resources through that lens even though I knew better. There was no way I was going to join a support group and tell other women what a failure of a mother I was. That's where my head was. I told no one. I just got lucky that I worked with my OB who recognized it immediately and prescribed me medication before that fog lifted and I saw what was happening. However if I would of came across her and watched another mother go through it without me having to admit I was struggling it would of made a difference. I only have one child for a reason and I could never willingly go through that again. I swear I cried so much my son looked at me like good god woman get it together I'm the one who is supposed to cry all the time not you.

    For the person who has been there as the nurse taking the baby and the person who takes care of them when they are in the NICU, I can truly say I’ve never got to watch the emotions of the family unfold like this. In the moment, it’s all focus on baby. I sobbed. I always knew it was hard and those seconds to minutes feel like ages to us too, but no one has been able to tell the whole story to us like you just did. Thank you for sharing your story to the world even when you didn’t have to 🥺💙 I’ve honestly been terrified of giving birth since the day I found out I was pregnant. This surprisingly helped ease the nerves some in a way that’s hard to explain. Can’t wait for the postpartum video!

    I know I'm 3 years late to your birth. Firstly I'm so happy for you that you were able to finally have a baby, after 15 years of infertility. As to you birth story, I know exactly how you felt. I went through exactly the same as you. The pain when they put you on that medication to increase your contractions is sooooooooo painful, I thought I was going to die too. I've never experienced such unbearable pain in all my life. Sadly, even though I got to 8cms, they told me I was in trouble, because I had Eclampsia . They told me I had to have a Caesarean. I was crushed, but I'm glad my son was ok and although it took me 1 year to get well. The eclampsia made me so ill. My lovely boy is now 25 and my little miracle.
    You were so brave and strong, but you did it and I'm so happy that he was ok and you too. I guess he's 3 years old now. Bless his sweet little life. I was riveted watching your story. God bless your little family. ❤❤❤❤

    As someone 6 months pregnant with no baby experience whatsoever, this was so incredibly helpful to hear. Many people share with me their traumatic birthing stories and they make it sound hopeless, like there's a wrong way and you have no say. You told this so well and in a weird way eased a LOT of my own worries. I am so happy for you three, you give me so much hope for what's to come 💗
