You have done it again for me Tom. Having reached another plateau you have given me something else to work on. I love to try improvising and with your videos you make things as clear as they can be for me. You confirm the direction I am heading is OK. I am too old to get much better and will never be as good as you being a late starter. However, my enjoyment is 100% and pleased I discovered the piano on retirement and you a little later. Thank you.

Don't just copy what's on the record...of course!! Do your own thing! You are providing something that most other teachers don't understand, ie, a window into improvisation. Thx Tom!!

INCREDIBLE! Not sure why this video only acquired a bit over 5k view in over 3 months now.
In any case, I will try to put what you showed into practice and if I am luck I can play something like your improvisation part soon as well. Say in 5-10 years from now. ;)
Thanks a lot for the content you provide.

Thanks so much! I was just trying to learn this song last week from some more "spartan" youtube videos and in the end just some scores I found, and that wasn't easy (but nobody said it was 😉) since I'm still quite "beginnery" (learning piano for half a year now at age 40).
I like how you built it up progressively and explained all the reasoning and theory behind it.

Tom, I love your videos and have learned so much from you. I’ve played for 60 years and am just now beginning to be able to really play pop music from lead sheets. Thank you so much for these inspiring videos!!

Tom, a lot of great ideas for me to try out. I really liked the "Heavy Handed Bass" and I am enjoying and working on Groove Master. Time to turn on the recorder and see what ideas I can come up with on my own. Improv is still a weakness for me. Thanks for all you do.

Thanks for watching. The chords are shown in the video. When a song only has 4 chords you really want to be thinking in that way. This is pop music training and pop musicians use lead sheets and chords. Though you can purchase the sheet music, I would advise to train the ear instead and get comfortable playing the music this way.
