Thanks you two! I agree about who to go to when you are taking either therapy. My oncologist who I see every 6 months doesnt appear to be interested in any side effects and tells me to tell my doctor who doesnt have much knowledge, so I am left in the wilderness.

Same here! I switched oncologists for this very reason and this one is the same. Neither one of them will have a conversation about symptoms to rule out reassurance or if these symptoms are side effects. I was also told to discuss any issues with my PCP.

I refused hormone treatment. My family doctor advised me to eat ground flaxseed. This was an unusual conversation to have with her.
The gynecologist continues to recommend hormones again and again.
There are many things in nature that help. As long as it's part of my usual diet, I won't let it stop me. Much of Asian cuisine is good for a healthy life also.

Yes, a discussion of natural alternatives is critical. Also, with pharmaceutical drugs/meds, they test for max amount that can be prescribed right at the threshold of toxicity. They don't test for minimum amount needed for efficacy, and for routine personal hormonal testing to see if it's even being effective for each particular patient, or if even needed. It's great you mentioned that 10 mg is effective! Testing for lowest dosage needed for efficacy needs to be thrle norm, not the exception. This would ensure lower side effects and increase patient compliance.

I agree that more discussion is so necessary, many people need to openly discuss how they feel about the side effects.

@learnlooklocate I've recently learned about EMA certified studies in Sweden, Italy, and the UK that found 2.g and 5 mg are more effective than anything higher. For 1, there are no side effects, so patients take their medicine and get its benefits. 2. Their studies measured for minimal amount needed for efficacy and found anything greater than 5.mg is actually poisoning the body which is why there are negative effects for most women. They aren't side effects. They are the effects of toxicity.

Great video! Would love to see one on AIs. Have to start taking it after being on tamoxifen for 2 yrs. I read the side effects and the list is horrific! Stressing me out…

Funny how Dr. Singh failed to mention diet to reduce estrogen, natural supplements and that some estrogen is necessary for our immune health, etc. Instead he spoke manly of dealing with side effects or possibly switching to another AI which has its own negative side effects.

A DUTCH test measures estrogen metabolites as well as progesterone, and testosterone. Hormones also affect immunity so reducing all estrogen lowers immunity. DIM and D-calcium glucarate also reduce estrogen but are natural and don't have side effects. Why don't conventional doctors measure the estrogen levels to make sure our immune system is not decreased? Estrogen blockers are like statins, they can lower cholesterol too far causing harm.

I was diagnosed with IDC in 2022. ER/PR positive, HER negative. Had a double mastectomy in February 2022. My cancer was sent off for recommend treatment chemotherapy treatment. I had 3 types of chemotherapy for 12 treatments. Couldn’t do radiation because of my pacemaker. I was put on aromasin therapy for 10 years. My endo predict is 55% chance of distance recurrence. I am having awful side effects from the medication. I have just stopped it about a week ago. I’m hoping that I made the best decision. Any advice?

Please comment on ESR1 mutations. NIH studies showing up to 50% occurring in hormone positive breast cancer with AI hormone therapy. Overall survival is poor on subsequent meds.

I was on anastrozole and leterzole. The side effects hit me really hard, and I am planning on stopping them. I am a grade 3 and stage 3, with an onco score of 87. Both drugs were affecting my mental health to the point in which they affected my job. I had great anxiety, and my attention deficit was so out of control. I became paranoid of all possible negative actions that could happen to me throughout my days. I couldn't focus my attention on completing any task and so much more. When do you lose your mind to save your body? My oncologist would like me to try either exestame or tamoxifen. I am terrified 😨

When the dr says hormone positive cancer relapses more often, later 5-10 years; is this with pre menopause women or menopausal or both?

Since the original branded AI is so expensive, can I switch to the generic one on my own without consulting my oncologist? I was told they are the same. Same ingredients except generic is much cheaper.

Well said Cynthia. Our onchologist are not emphatic enough about the side affects patients have to face. 😢They won't even discuss it. It's a very lonely place to be when faced with having to make a decision to take this without any meaningful support. The medical profession needs to address this very real problem.
How about the choice of taking only 5mcg to start.
