Slab foundation is the worst idea ever! I'm on a slab and faced with the issues in this video. I'm currently pulling up all my flooring, having the foundation concrete cut out so the plumber can install/fix the cast iron piping. What a mess!! And the kicker, it's NOT covered by insurance! Ugh. Knowing what I know now, I'll never buy a house on a slab foundation again!
that was beyond gnarly. Worth every penny. Old plummers could never do this work...too freaking hard. Don't have the flexibility of these young bucks. Great video and good work fellas.
I just reconfigured all the underground plumbing in a basement bathroom for the first time. Broke open the concrete, made a lot of changes, got everything lined up and sloped perfectly for the new layout and then closed it up. It was way more work than I expected. Huge respect to the guys doing this kind of work!! It definitely ain't easy. I think I did a good job, but learned my lesson and I won't be doing that again.
Yo man honestly just from your video you actually care about doing the job right. If you come to PA I would definitely hire you to replace my drain. Good stuff man
Dang bro I’m over here thinking I’m bad ass changing my walk in shower p trap after breaking the foundation to relocate it and see this video with you guys under the foundation lol super dope job guys we’ll trained and hard worker !
Not gonna lie, I know of you guys and have seen some work from y’all. As much as I hate your $49 clean out advertisement this was awesome work and o applaud
Nice job with the repair. Now the homeowner needs to SELL SELL SELL that house quick!! Before more cast iron fails or they start having major foundation and termite problems.
Instant sub. N' here I thought that HydroNYC was the beast! You're sandhogs...actual f'ing sandhogs! Good to learn about those Husky hubless. I just saw on Reddit that was super short, you got the right size for underground. Be careful with cement dust!
I hope your double san tee worked for your back to back toilets. Some manufacturers specify a double wye and 45's because the speed of the water when flushed will make the water in the other toilet bounce and drain out . The double tee does not work well with the newer toilets!
I was a plumbing helper in Los Angeles for a few years. One thing that i hated was digging. Luckily most the soil there isnt bad or filled with rock, usually. Still there were times having no room under a house, literally digging while laying down. Awwe the good ole days.
If I may help, try using the figure 5 fitting instead of double San-tee. It allows for better service with snake and for better drainage. In Hawaii it is code and is actually better practice. God bless
Why’d they build houses with no crawl space? I just did a re-pipe and re-drain of my 1957 house with a crawl space and the job was done within 2 days. Only had to patch drywall and stucco.
I worked for a utility company for 28 yrs and seen alot of shitty things lol I was jet rodding a sewer line on a dead end line and when I pressured up and ran the rodder up the main line i went through a grease plug it pressurized the main line and the customer side and blew crap through the toilet all over a couple rest room's in two different buildings two customer's come up too me and told me what happened i couldn't hold it in I cracked up laughing and the man said I don't think it's funny and i replied what do you want me to do cry 😂😂😂 the women said she was going to have my ass lol had too hire a cleaning agency
How would you recommend designing plumbing to make it easy to change in the future? Just plumb it straight through the wall to the outside, instead of under the slab? Obviously this can't work on 1st story drains of the showers or toilets, but it seems like it would work for everything else. And then just cover it with external rockwall insulation.
One way to deal with drainage from a space in the middle of a building is to create tenches where you run the drainage pipes. We design shopping centres and do this all the time here in South Africa.
Wow, nice work. After you fixed the lines how did you finish the holes where you dug out the dirt and broke out the concrete? Did you fill the dirt back in and repour concrete and I wasn't quite sure what you did inside around the toilets. I saw the concrete base, but what was supporting that - what that some of the old dirt you used as backfill? Great video.
As a plumber who does these types of jobs as well I can say that yes, the dirt has to be replaced before pouring concrete to match the existing depth and to finish the slab to its previous state.
Not a problem for us we line Chanel rot on toilets all the time no digging needed the sink pipes def needed to be removed but I would invest In lining equipment I would have had that job done faster because of our equipment
What'd you do with all the Backfill from underneath the Slab while you were crawling around in there? Ive done this and that pile of Dirt/Clay adds up pretty quick.
We employ compactors to compress every inch of soil back into the foundation, ensuring that we effectively reintegrate all the excavated dirt. While it's a challenging process, our dedicated team consistently accomplishes this task.
I’ve noticed nobody ever answers the question about cost. I’m referring to how a plumbing contractor determines final cost to the consumer/property owner. Every job is different but as a rule of thumb what is the average price that plumber or company has charged. For instance, the repair work done in this video cost approximately…..?
@@um8440 $200 an hour🤣🤣 you think you can charge more than most doctors?? It took them 2 days and even two people at $200 isn't $10,000. You guys are some dipshit plumbers then. You guys are thieves.
Just saw cut the floors and redo the whole home sewer system from above. Unless you are getting a professional excavation company to move the dirt and a structural engineer to inspect everything to make sure it’s safe to crawl around, you are risking your life every second you are under there. Always pull permits and do things legit as well, be a good contractor.
I'm a plumber and I commend you guys for doing these on the regular. Unbelievable amount of work. I can't imagine doing these as part of my routine
Ah scary to be under the slab like that, I’d be having anxiety about it caving in haha you guys have balls of steel and great skills!!
The importance of having a raised foundation. Props to you guys for putting that work in. 👏🏽
I would never have a slab home, don't see why they can't run pipe around the perimeter of slab

I used a 99$ drain clear company. Cost 1500 to replace a big copper pipe that failed. They get bigger jobs with that low price .
This is the reason I love plumbing 👍🏾👊🏿..... fantastic job guys.. I would love to work with you 👍🏾👊🏿👊🏿💯
