      The Bugatti was the only one that didn’t blow up. The rest of the engines looked like junkyard builds. One piece of junk after another. BTW, no WAY am I sitting on a bike doing this. The guys is lucky he didn’t get blown in half. The idiot at the end standing there with his phone is the luckiest SOB in the video. When that engine blew, it sent shrapnel all over the place. Turbo diesels and Dino’s don’t mix very well.

    I got a call and found a CAT 3406 in a test cell cut in half. The #2 piston overheated and stuck, allowing the connecting rod to bang until it knocked off the injection pump, oil suction tube, oil pan, and finally the camshaft. There was gap where nothin but the head and crank was holding the engine together. Chunks hit the concrete wall and oil was all over the test cell. It was a full load and started to runaway, the operator hit the shutdown in 1.5 sec but that engine can accelerate at 1500 rpm/sec so it was really going. The event was over quickly . . . Not the only cell failure seen - -these videos bring back fun memories. THANKS!!

    @karlk6860 2 ปีที่แล้ว +29

    Some extremely dramatic devastating failures, you know you had a good one when it shreds the block! I have built a few engines for drag racing and the street (Kind of) and the engine is never in the car when I have them on the dyno and I am always there doing the tuning on the engine and I will tell the operator what RPMs we are going up to and I work on the air flow and timing etc. its never been discussed with the dyno operator but unless there was a big failure with his dyno that hurt my engine then everything else is on ME! If my engine spun a bearing or whatever went wrong that is a failure on my build and has nothing to do with the dyno. Its never happened yet but its certainly the best way to break a race engine in and it allows you to really fine tune everything before the engine goes into the car!

      Was it the tyre letting go or the guy dropping the throttle too fast and the drum shredding the tyre ? seemed like he went first before the tyre, I've had bikes on the dyno and always cringed at the top speed push, you don't realise it sounds like that when you ride it in fun mode as you're too focused in front but hard to stand watching it doing that on the dyno.

    Man, those diesels dude, once you start really pushing the hell of em stuffing them with boost and putting em way way way over what they're rated for guess they just tend to blow up eh?

      To hell with those idiots. That "rollin' coal" bullshit is one of the reasons why diesel vehicles have so many onerous regulations applied to them.

    • @MrNeutross
      @MrNeutross 2 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      The compression is already so high from it being a diesel, adding high boost is just too much for a stock block and components to handle.
      I love diesels but not for the power. The torque and efficiency is more interesting, it's and engine type designed to do actual work and do it efficiently.

    • @ReubenHorner
      @ReubenHorner 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      They are normally super freaking strong for what they are built for but on most of these ones when the head flys off its actually the stock cast iron block that rips between the head studs and the main studs as they are running something stupid like 1500hp in a block made for 300hp

    • @MadMarky
      @MadMarky 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Uncontrolled spraying of N2O like that will lean out the fuel mixture with engine damage guaranteed. It's for a reason that you'd normally have a nitrous controller which exactly doses the amount of N2O AND fuel that the engine receives.

    1970s and oval racing Ford Anglia 105E on dyno with its 1000cc 4-cylinder Kent engine.
    Max revs and it suddenly stopped, no noise, smoke or bits flying through the air.
    We all scratched our heads, so cylinder head off to reveal all pistons at TDC.
    Turn the crank and none move!
    Turned out there wasn’t enough clearance between pistons and head, so they made contact.
    Surprising how quick that small engine came to a stop.
    Not my car.
