  • You can debate many positions in NY Giants history about who was the top player. But the TE position really only has two - Mark Bavaro and Jeremy Shockey. But the question is who was the best TE in New York Giants History?

Bavaro carrying Ronnie Lott down the field with is my earliest memory of football. These other guys were totally awesome, but bavaro was the reason I was a Giants fan my entire life when 2 of my older brothers were all bills, and another bro and sis cowboys.

This is a close one. If I had to choose I'd go with Bavaro. Only cause he contributed to championships. Shockey's got the ring but didnt play. Good video. 🖒

I agree with the end 💯

Have to agree ,tough to choose between them. For value Bavaro was only a fourth round pick, broke his jaw had it wired shut and kept playing. He also gave Ronnie Lott and half the 49's team a piggy back ride! I loved Shockey and his demeanor when he first came out and was a hell of a player. Didn't like the attitude so much at the end.

Ok I can agree with the results. My only thing is if Jeremy would had kept his head on straight maybe this would be a different video. I'm always gonna remember that SF game where Jeremy had an easy TD if he would had ran to the pylon but instead turned around looked for the SF safety tried to run him over but got stopped at the goal line.

interesting discussion because the two were probably as opposite in mannerisms as two players could be...
Bavaro - quiet, puts his head down and goes to work.
Shockey- Brash. will say what's on his mind no matter what.
I LOVED both of these players!!
    I LOVE MY GIANTS!!!

My first giant game 1972 against the dolphins in yankee stadium. Tucker had a good game and he became one of my favorite giants. I believe a very overlooked talent. He eventually moved on to the Vikings.
However to me Bavaro for the time he played was the best tight end and the toughest. A staple for simms to connect on those seam passes.

Not even close Bavaro like IMO it's insulting to even mention JS in same sentence.. notice that was Ronnie Lott he carried upfield in the highlight here.. the difference is Bavaro was there when NYG identity was forged I too have Shockey jersey but he was doing too much kicking the ball in the stands for old school NYG that's doing too much Saquan doesn't do things like that n he's beyond talent that we've seen in NFL in long time

Zeke Mowatt was our best blocking TE but Bravaro( Rambo) is the Best. You can draft a Shockey, not Bravaro

Not hands down, cuz Bavaro was good too, but didn't get ad many chances to shine because he was still in the 3 yards and a cloud of dust era, as was Tucker....

Bob Tucker was better than Shockey...Better hands , no attitude...Bad giant teams...Played with Tarkenton with both the Giants and Vikings.

Saw tucker play .. (born in 1952) he was not even close to Shockey .. he didn’t enter the league until he was 25... he was a good player on bad giants team and he couldn’t block like either mark or Jermey ..

Shockey was the most talented we’ve ever had at that position! In my opinion! Bavaro is a beast and a great tight end but if I could take one it would be Shockey (in their prime)
