    Ben it really was spectacularly beautiful country. I climbed Passo Stelvio, the Gavia, Sella Ronda, Foza and Monte Grappa (all cat. 1 climbs) on my 2 wheeled recumbent and would love to join you sometime in my Bulk.

    Great video, thanks! How did the Urban behave in this long climb ?

    • @mnveloguy

      @@daniele_go very well. Later in the trip I also summited the Brenner Pass. The lead up to the Brenner from Brixen is a long series of nasty somewhat short but very steep climbs. The Urban, even as a prototype and only the third one built (and still with the aluminum front frame and swingarm) was very stiff and responsive in the climbs. Aside from losing my breath because of the elevation, the climbing was easy. In part 2 of this video you’ll see how the ride went after the climb. It’s worth watching and I think will put in context how well the Urban climbs. It will be uploaded on Saturday.

    Did you ship your velomobile from the US - must have been pretty expensive? By air or by sea?
    Or do you keep one in Europe for your trips here?
    Thanks for the great footage

    Awesome! Did you have any issues with the brakes overheating on the down side?

    • @mnveloguy
      @mnveloguy  21 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@Bigboy4018 no. In fact I posted a video a couple weeks ago of the descent from the Achensee to Jenbach. No brake fade whatsoever. Pulsing the brakes and having open wheel wells helps a lot with keeping the brakes from overheating. That’s part of why I chose an Urban for this trip.

    What kind of gear range does your Velomobile have that allows you to climb and still narrate without sounding too winded? and What model Bulk is this? About how much does it weigh on this ride minus your weight?

    • @mnveloguy
      @mnveloguy  19 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@landsurfingpro3370 56/33 Front with 11 speed 11-40 rear. Just spin at a reasonable rate that I can sustain without too high a heart rate. And train beforehand. This was with a prototype Bülk Urban that was actually several pounds heavier than the models now going into production. I don’t remember how much weight I had with in gear and water. Maybe 15 or 20 pounds beyond the weight of the bike? I know I packed really light for this tour due to the climbing, but stuff adds up quickly.

    • @mnveloguy
      @mnveloguy  21 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@arnaudhumbert-n1y on the climb? The average speed was fairly slow. I think I mentioned it at one point at least in the video. By the end of the day my average speed was up to 14 miles per hour. Not especially fast, but for having ridden over a mountain pass and starting the day with 25 miles of climbing, I think it is quite a good average speed. I think on the pass I was mostly 3.5-5 miles per hour. No electric help needed. I wasn’t in a hurry. I don’t mind climbing slow because it means more time to enjoy the great scenery.
