After the car crash took his arm, Rick Allen came back to the studio where the band had been recording. Nobody ever talked about replacing him or what they were going to do. They were just happy he was back and he'd just go into a room by himself....and spent his days figuring out how he could drum with one arm - setting up to drum with his feet, and practicing day after day. The band admits now, they were just happy he was doing something, but in the back of their minds of course he could never do what he once did. One day he called them into the room and proceeded to play one of their hits in their entirety on his new setup using his feet. By the end all of them were in tears.
He actually played 'When the Levee Breaks' from Led Zeppelin. But the love is all that matters. :-)
There is an interview here on TH-cam where Ric Allen himself stated that the band visited him in the hospital and told him that they would be waiting when he was ready.
You problay didn't know but the drummer only has one arm. He was in a car accident. The band waited for him to learn to play one handed and foot pedals. Thats what I call true friends
I was waiting for them to realize Rick has one arm.
But they did have another drummer to pick up the slack if you didn’t know. They both played on albums and concerts.
@@lovetocheerx0x0 the backup drummer was there for maybe two or three shows on the Hysteria tour, but wasn't needed. When I saw them on that tour, Rick played the entire show.
Rick Allen was awesome
Joe Elliott is the coolest bloke you’ll ever meet. The band’s magnanimous gesture to not leave their little brother behind and wait on him to come back is one of the greatest stories of Rock n Roll ever there was.
Rick Allen the drummer, lost his left arm in a car accident, when he was only 21 years old. He was close to depression, but his group said that no one would replace him, and they waited for him until he could recover and learn to play again. True loyalty and friendship.
It is one of the greatest rock songs of all time for sure...Def Leppard had and still has the "it" factor. They're not young any more but still know how to rock their asses off...I am a huge fan and love that you enjoyed it so much!!!
Let's see if they notice the drummer only has one arm! He lost his arm in a car accident! Learned to play with one hand and foot pedals! Love Bites is one of my favorites from them!
Nope they didnt pay attention to the video enough i dont!
That is a huge mistake by them not noticing because everyone that knows Def Leppard knows the drummer had 1 arm but they still never notice or never did no research on the band which most of the people reacted to videos dont and that is why people wont watch!!
Was his lost arm ever found?
The band showed lots of loyalty to a fallen mate. Many bands would have abandoned him in today's cutthroat world of pop music.
@@josephhickman1306 yeh they tried to put it back on bur they couldn't
You need to do a poll and find out how many people watched this reaction for the sole purpose of waiting to see if you notice that the drummer only has one arm
me 🙋♀️
Me as well
Me😂
Me too. Mr. Rick Allen on 🔥
me 😭😂
Trust the Def Leppard rabbit hole is deep. Enjoy the journey!! Awesome band.
Old Def Leppard is great, so dig deep. High 'n Dry Album highly recommended.
First of all, you guys are just adorable. It’s always fun to see young people react to the soundtracks of my life. This particular song is my personal favorite, but they had dozens of mega hits. They just didn’t have any bad songs!
I hear you I'm 61, grew up listening to the greatest music, hands down. Nut every album they did, every song was in the top 10. That's amazing. Last time I saw them was 2019
I personally love their first 3 albums. After that they kind of went mainstream
I absolutely agree with everything you stated! I host karoke at a local establishment. I am always tickled when some young folks sing some KISS or Def Leppard! Love it!
This song definitely makes you feel SOME SORT OF WAY!! This is one of my all time favorite songs and bands! They put on such a good show in concert!
I'll say it again you guys and day one are the best commentary and first time listening on the on my phone on the internet you two are the best better than all the rest
My absolute FAVORITE couple to watch for reactions on TH-cam!! LOVE YOU GUYS!!! ❤️ 😍
I love the intro you get on the radio…”Step inside, walk this way, you and me babe, Hey! Hey!”
I have seen them LIVE 10 times and will keep going as long as they keep touring, which has been A LOT over the last 4 decades. They aren't young any more, but you wouldn't know it watching their high energy concerts. Great vocal harmonies and a unique sounding lead, awesome guitars, and off course, the amazing ONE ARMED DRUMMERS.
About that many times for me. Its my moms idea of quality time. First saw them in 92 at the Roanoke Civic Center (now the Berglund Center) in Roanoke Virginia. It was my first concert at 9 years old. Im 40 now and They're still my fav band.
S and M Squad Adore you two! Def Leppard is a huge rabbit hole!! Hysteria - Def Leppard is such a soothing banger! Love for you to react to that one next!
This song reminds me of growing up in the '80s. I lost a good friend last week and I can never listen to this without thinking of him. Thanks for the throwback! 🥰😥
And I don't mean in a sexual way lol we used to blow out the speakers playing this in the car. Also I realize I'm catching this late but y'all didn't even notice there's a one-armed drummer. This was his first song after losing his arm!
Def Leppard is one of the best bands ! in the world this song is just a to timeless classic it's amazing!
First time listening to your show ! You all are cool ! I was a metal drummer through the 80s to 2015 still play . I wish I could go back to the days of playing concerts, clubs & parties. Love your attitude towards the Rock and metal scenes !
Nothing better than 80’s music. Def has a lot of Rock Anthems and they were burning everything up!!🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
Pleas check the Drummer Rick Allen back story, he was named the Thunder God after his accident
Listen to
Rock Of Age
Let’s Get Rock
Photograph is what put them on the map. These guys are all still together!!!
React to Def Leppard rock of ages live 1988 in the round the drummer lost his arm New Year’s Day 1984 returned 3 years later and reinvented the way he played drums he still plays today with the band and they are new inductees to the rock ‘n’ roll Hall of Fame
Any of the In the Round 88 performances
Ok @Shawn and Mel did you notice the drummer lost arm they waited on him to learn how to play with one...that is great love
GOD I LOVE THE 80s even though I was born in 90🤣🤣
Same 🤘🏽 born in 96
Hell yeah. Props to u. I grew up in the 90's with Alice in Chains, Soundgarden, Korn, Pantera & early Sevendust who I still fully love today. But thru older cousins, uncles & aunts I also got introduced to 80's hard rock & metal & was blown away. True that there was a lot of corny stuff, but EVERY decade & genre has that. Ya just gotta sort out the legit from the sh*t...
Same. Well born in 88. Music from the 60s 70s 80s 90s and a little from the early 00s
Music from the 60s - 90s = Godlike, they've got Pink Floyd, The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Radiohead, Nirvana, Jimi Hendrix Experience, Queen, Rolling Stones, Fleetwood Mac, The Who, Black Sabbath and much more.
You not alone
One thing you'll learn as you get into Rock is that it... well, it rocks. Like, it makes your head bob and your heart pound and it makes you want to *move*. Enjoy it, and rock out!
loved watching ya'll react to an awesome old concert song that everybody loves; that chorus has been played in hundreds of movies and commercials!!
Happy to be here with you!
It gives me so much to see two people get so much pleasure from the music I grew up with, loved and love. Music is powerful
I've seen them in concert 3 times 1st time 1984, 1988 and 2022.they are amazing.
Subscribed! Anyone who loves one of my all time favorite songs this much is on my playlist! Thanks for visiting my teenage memories with me!
Def Leppard is one of the greatest 80s rock bands there is. They still tour and sound as amazing as they did in the 80's. I've seen them in concert over a dozen times! Every song they sing in concert was a hit song! They play an amazing set!
Love your reaction to this!! Def Leopard is awesome! The drummer only has 1 arm. He lost an arm in an accident.
This song was popular when i was 5. Im 40 now. Song still hits!
Best. Song. Ever! This was filmed at the In the Round: In Your Face concert in Denver, Colorado. The stage was in the middle of the arena with fans completely surrounding it. Fun fact: So they didn't get mobbed on their way to the stage, they were transported in laundry carts to the under-stage area.
You two are cool people, respect from Ireland ,subbed good vibe
your bird seems like a cool chick
I love your reaction to this song. That was my reaction when I giddy head it growing up in the 80's. It's nice to see young people enjoy them as much as I do. Keep rocking!
I have so much respect for this band ! How they stood by Rick the drummer.
Such good memories. Seen them in concert was a wonderful evening .
This badass rocker was No.1 on MTV for 86 days in a row! :-)
They be on fire!! Best song, you couldn't change my mind.
Watch the Def Leppard story, it's a great documentary on their whole life. It's amazing, sad and heartbreak.
Nobody notices the drummer. Legendary.
Love this BAND‼‼‼‼‼‼‼
I believe the video was filmed in Denver, CO. MY HOME TOWN Love that you love it 80s ROCK ROCKS THE HOUSE!!
I have seen Def Leppard 7 times in concert.. they still Rock
Def Leppard!! This is a deep rabbit hole and worth it!!!! Check out Animal and Photograph to start off with. These guys have really unique sound (especially their Hysteria album- which this song is from) and every song was a banger! Nice bunch of guys too- real people and really down to earth. Still rocking today! I took my 12 year old to see them in 2019- they are still a blast!
So glad I got to see them in concert! Great show!
I love your reactions sooo much!! You are so beautiful Mel!! ❤
I just love watching the two of you! Great reaction ❤️
Every 80's band had a "Panty Dropper". This was Def Leopard's... Awesome band.
This one's also listed as a "Strip Club Anthem"
Leppard
You guys are adorable and fun to watch, love and positivity! Also this song is sooo good! ;)
Def Leppard are the definition of Arena Rock, this was that HYPE music back in the 80's :D
I like the way he is fully committed to this song. 😂
The tune was hot, the words were hot, the guitars jammed the eff out and the drums were epic as usual. Add Joe Elliot’s voice to that and yes please 😂
ONE of their Amazing great songs‼‼👌
Steve Clark... Rest In Peace....
I used to fantasize about this band playing live for my birthday when i was in the 6th grade.
One of my favorites, Love you guys ❤️🙌🙏
We love you too!!
80s had the most fun music from many genres.
My favorite line "You got the peaches, I got the cream"
My daughter thought they said: you've got the bitches I've got the weed, lol.
Saw them twice on the Hysteria tour with the original band members. Totally awesome, best concerts I ever attended.
I love you 2. So full of energy and positivity! And great reactions of course
Best Def Leppard song 🎵 80s rock n metal forever ♥️
The drummer is also a great artist----(painter) AWESOME!
Now that's a band. Loved it.
The rabbit hole is real deep and this band is still doing concerts! Try Rock of Ages, Animal, Billy’s got a Gun ! Just to start😎
Fun fact the album with pour some sugar on me called hysteria only sold 3 million copies then strippers started dancing to it and right away 5 million more copies sold i guess you can say it blew up.
And now it's up to 20 million.
Yes! Go down this rabbit hole!
Saw them 2 years ago, and I can confirm they still sound this bada**
Rick Allen... what an inspiration.... 1 arm and still rockin after all these years!!!
Best reacting so far!! We rockers,,,not to shabby huh? Y'all are too cute😁
You two rock..👍...good vibes..!!
So fun watching you both enjoy!! One of my faves!!
And the nicest bunch of guys ever......
Def Leppard only made great music 🎯🤟
I wish to go to a bad ass Rock concert with you both! We'd be rockin' a good time! You both ROCK!
Gr8 song. Thx 4 sharing.
You two are awesome!
I saw them in Boston … they had an incredible pyrotechnics 🧨 show
Guys remember we didn’t have cell phones or TH-cam. We had radio & MTV, 🤪
When bands in the 80’s put out new music. It was Christmas for us. Enjoy the Rock from back in the good days 💫
Yes haha! I’ve spent more than a couple nights shouting this song with a group of friends in a dive bar setting lol. I hope you also react to AC/DC - I’ll search through your vids.
They’re the best!!!!
Hard to believe that you didn’t notice or react to our Boy Rick on drums missing his left arm. From an accident years ago when he wrecked his car and lost it, but being the tight group of friends that they were they stuck by him while he rehabbed and thru technology and practice He made possibly the best come back in music history!!
So glad I was born in 82 and experienced the 80's
I just love you guys❤️
Def Leppard is one of those bands that my friends would have mocked me for liking but I still like them anyway.
The 80s was the best time to be alive as far as fun. The music always has an uplifting energy that soooo lacking today
Saw these guys in the mid 2000's... love them!
Loved them from the beginning! Joe Elliott can hit some high notes... when I saw them in the mid 2000's, seemed he couldn't hit those high notes like back in the day but they still put on a great show!
You guys should do a reaction to their songs Rock Of Ages, Photograph and Bringin' On The Heartbreak
The fact they didn't notice the drummer had one arm , goes to show that even with one arm is was as good as any drummer with two arms .
Love 80’s hair bands. I was in my early 30s at the time! One of my faves. Bon Jovi is my other fave, but I liked all of them.
Love you guys. 😁😎✌️👍❤️
I love watching reactions to this song and nobody notices that Rick Allen the drummer has one arm blows my mind lol
Thay said that they would not replace him it was his to be if he wanted to keep playing
One of your best reactions!
At this little bar with my boy, met these two ladies. My boy went to get next round, this came on and the lady he was talking to gave me a 🔥 lap dance. Asked him to trade, he didn’t even acknowledge the question. 😄
Going to see them Motley Crue, Poison and Joan Jett and the Blackhearts in August down in San Antonio can't wait. 🤘🤘🤘
DEF LEPPARD POUR SOME SUGAR ON ME ENOUGH SAID ! S AND M FOR LIFEEEE!
Bringing on the heartbeats. Live ivebin the round.
Many a bars were danced on to this song!
I was at this concert they filmed this video.... it was my first concert ever
Yall need to watch again. Watch the drummer
This song was a last minute addition to the album. But it ended up being the song that blew it all up and helped it sell 20 million copies to date.
Omg his reaction is pure gold. Love love love.. \○/ Yessss
