I would recommend doing the same with red river crabgrass. I've used it several years on where I feed hay and had excellent results.

Interesting!!! I like the fact that you show the results. Alot of youtubers just show the planting but very seldom talk about the results. Thanks for sharing!!

Good to know that works. You just put a whole lot of biomass in that soil. Perhaps the good seeds in the seed bank will pop out next year.
It's such a hassle and expense getting the no till drill for us, doing small parcels. We planted 15 acres of that last year and the cows inhaled it! Maybe I'll try broadcasting some, too. Thanks.

Have you ever done a burn on this low quality field rake in the ash and try restarting. Here in Colorado to keep the fields good some burn, they always have a great crop, they burned 2 months ago, and already cut there first hay and put it away.

Good to see you. The heard looks great. I dont know how you keep track of them and their histories. I guess that shows a good cattleman. I'm glad your experiment was a success. 😊

I imagine the cows and the hoppers like the sorghum because it is sweet. You have ponds, maybe a few ducks to hold down the grasshoppers would help. Those cows are fat and the calves look great. Good video. Pax.

I don’t know if you can get a small fertiliser/ seed spreader that you can trail behind your vehicle for broadcasting the seed. We bought one from Ireland. It came in a kit. We used it behind the ATV
I used to broadcast clover by hand. Also a good tine harrowing might help pull up the thatch and rough the soil up a bit. Do you soil test? PH is everything when growing grass. Those cows certainly loved the sorghum, they are all looking good.’

Did you come back and bushhog after broadcasting like you said in the video? Also did you fertilize or anything behind it? Looks like an excellent stand of grass with minimal input! Great video.

I've seen broadcasting before moving swine and it works. I've been wondering if broadcasting before grazing cattle would push the seed into the soil some and help germination. I'll tune in next year for sure.

Only recommendation would be to find a neighbor kid to drive your truck around the field while you sit on the tailgate and broadcast 😁

if you had 60 days from planting and 60 days after first grazing it should really do good.

Issac do you that if you take a torch or flamethrower to the thistles after that the cows will eat them down to the ground for some reason they like them after they are cooked off.

I think you’re dead on to broadcast and put the cattle on it the same or the next day that works great.
