Why are tattoos not allowed at onsen/hot spring?

    • @gordonbgraham

They're associated with Yakuza. Establishments are afraid of losing customers who are afraid to come if Yakuza members do

Interesting. I don‘t know how much of a problem yakuzas these days are in Japan, but i think people with smaller tattoos should be allowed to visit onsen/hot springs. I mean a little butterfly on your arm don‘t makes you a member of yakuza i guess.

@@robertmaier7025 I guess it’s a matter of being consistent in their rule. Rather than check sizes and types of tattoos they’ve simply decided no tattoos. There are some onsens that accept tattoos

Dang, you translated soccer to football when he clearly said soccer. I can't trust any of the translations now. The whole thing has been falsified.

Most of the world uses “football” or some variation of the word to mean soccer. Perhaps the person who translated or made the subtitles are not from North America, Australia, or South Africa or decided to use British-English so I wouldn’t say the whole thing is falsified. I’m Japanese-American and the translations are accurate.
Also, although Japan uses the word “soccer” most often, the governing administration for soccer and soccer-related sports and Leagues is called the “Japanese Football Association.” Basically, soccer and football can be used interchangeably for people outside of North America and they might call what Americans call “football” as “American Football” or “gridiron football.”

@@Yoshinator54 I clearly was making a joke. You don't need to explain something like this when it's so obvious.

@DanielSHIRO Clearly, and American football is not called American football. It's just Football. Do you go to another country and forcefully rename their sport just because you dont like it. Its not called American football. Thats simply a way to distinguish it from another kind of football. But you cant consider that its name. The name soccer was made by the British in the 1800's to seperate from Rugby. The Americans only adopted an offical name for the sport. They only stopped using soccer in the 1980's when they wanted to distinguish themselves from the Americans.

@@sirvantanite1307 I apologize for that but in my defense, it is sometimes difficult to get the nuances of sarcasm from text. I read it as an accusation of false information and I just assumed you may not have known some people call it “football” so I tried explaining it in an informative manner. Sorry for the mix up.

@@Yoshinator54 I suppose it can be. Maybe I could have worded it more clearly for less confusion.
