Number of builder are developing plotted colony with road of 15 to 18 feet and the road is covered by plot owner by slanting way for car parking resulting in coverage of road from 3 to 4 feet . The road is also measured from wall to wall of opposite plots instead of actual cocreate road. There is no park for morning walkers. The MDDA is not developing any plotted colony with wide roads whereas pvt colonisers are on rampant. The weather is good in northern area. Overall it is not bad to shift to dehradun avoiding southern or central as it is very congested with heavy traffic jams.

Talking about higer education in Dehradun for Engineering: DIT, Graphic or UPES, cannot be compared to IITs, NITs or IIITs, but are definately good colleges, and have good placements in streams like CS/IT.
I myself graduated from DIT in CSE, and working with a good company with good package, where my colleagues are from IITs as well.
So yes you can't compare these colleges to IITs or other top private ones', but the colleges are decent enough.
