The worlds most popular cartoons are ripped-off on a fairly regular basis. In some cases, the resulting rip-offs are nothing more than cheap, inferior imitations of the originals, but occasionally they can end up being just as popular (if not even more so) than the ones theyre imitating. In this video, were going to take you through some examples of both (therell be examples of how copying should be done and how it really shouldnt be done). The examples well be including are as follows; the fact that Seth MacFarlanes Family Guy clearly copies (or at least parodies) Matt Groenings long-running The Simpsons, the fact that the awful Coconut Freds Fruit Salad Island! blatanly copies SpongeBob SquarePants, the fact that Yo-Kai Watch totally steals the entire concept of Pokemon (with supernatural beings instead of animal-esque creatures), the fact that Samurai Pizza Cats, Kung Fu Dino Posse and Street Sharks all took the idea of anthropomorphic animals fighting evil from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, the fact that Johnny Test was essentially just Dexters Laboratory with some gender-swapping, the fact that the 1978 Run, Wonder Princess! movie was an utterly shameless rip-off of DCs iconic Wonder Woman character, the fact that Pixie Pinkie was obviously imitating The Fairly OddParents, and the fact that even the great 1980s classic ThunderCats was just taking the Masters of the Universe template and making a few tweaks. You do realise Dora and Go Deigo Go are set in the exact same universe as each other, meaning they are actually the same show? Wow Wow Wubzy and Caillou were both PBS made, so it's not a ripoff. It's not possible for a company to rip off their own shows.

I watched Dexter’s Laboratory 2017 and Johnny Test. I’d say Dexter’s Laboratory is better. Dexter’s Laboratory is my favourite Cartoon Network show or show in general. Johnny Test is meh.

For whatever reason, "Screen Rant" refers to Chow as a Triceratops and Lucy as a Stegosaurus when it is actually the other way around.
Should totally include a list of popular youtube videos that Screen Rant has ripped off. :) That one might make bank.

ViolentVixen Especially with Yokai Watch and Pokémon. 😂 they clearly don’t understand that these types of games/shows are very popular in Japan. Quite a bit of manga/anime takes what’s mainstream, and incorporates it into their own show in order to get a season. Making manga is tough, especially making your own type of manga, most artists are forced to go mainstream if they want to get a season because making your own genre has a high chance of failure unless you’re amazing at it.
There’s Harem which is all similar, fighting which has similar structure, etc. and Pokémon, Digimon, Yugioh, the types of anime where you either capture or collect different creatures to use in fuels of any kind is extremely popular.

so essentially, if two shows that are similar one must OBVIOUSLY be a rip off? even if there's no evidence of such? So many of these entries are ridiculous, apparently EVERY show about talking animals MUST be a rip off. Wow usually I find Screen videos pretty good, but this was pretty weak. very subjective based on purely personal opinion and lack of research. Also you mixed up the Triceratops and Stegosaurus in the dinosaur one.

Johnny Test was an amazing show. I've seen nearly every episode, some more than once. Calling it a blatant rip-off and comparing Johnny to Didi is mental. Johnny had much more intelligence and attitude than Didi.

As someone who has watched Yokai watch and their three movies I have to say yokai watch is nothing like Pokémon compared to Bakugon, Yugio and smaller shows like dinosaur king. Yokai watch has changed so much more now and has hundreds of different episodes and many shorts and is has much more than the English dub that has around 50 episodes and 1 movie compared to the 1000s of episodes and 3+ movies and lots more. Watch all the current episodes and think again.

though Dexter's lab and Johnny test share similarities in characters their interactions are quite different

Exactly, although I would say there one is rip-off that they did tweak. In Dexter's lab the mother is the housewife and the father works, but in johnny test the mother is the breadwinner and the father is the stay-at-home. Honestly though it could just be that they wanted kids to see a different perspective of gender roles, This is just a theory i'm making.
