As a black man I know this song like the back of my hand. But I had a new appreciation of if when I went to the funeral of the fireman that lost his life saving us from the building. God Bless the Chicago Fire Dept and all the brave ones who laid their lives down for us
Firemen are the unsung heros of the World, that brave man couldn't have done more in this world by saving your lives at the cost of his own. My cousin is a fireman in Ireland, when they're called they have no fear, no thoughts for their own life, when others are at stake. I salute you for attending his funeral!
Just a random dude on the internet but this is the third time in a comment under a different version of this I’m hearing about this hero fireman from Chicago fire dept. Seems he really made an impact on the lives around him. Idk him but still want to say my condolences 💐
We deliberately leave out the English who let’s be honest have nothing nice to say about the Celtic nations even derogatory nicknames for each countries people.
Imagine this sound on the other side of a hill as they march in to war, the sound wafting back and forward and getting louder in the wind - any enemy would be terrified; even today - simply amazing. I love the pipes - Go Scotland / from an Irish man
Imagine hearing a bagpiper as you are on a train going to Scotland; as the snow is falling softly and the sheep are in the fields.......I was just sobbing!
For sure, could not agree more with you! Bagpipes just have such a high note that camera footage just can’t capture properly. Nothing beats a live performance
I'm half Scottish , half Yorkshire , yes Yorkshire and proud of that , real men and women we have brother , Britain is best together , ty , 1 year late sorry :)
So here I am, sitting in my garden on a hot summer afternoon in The Netherlands. I have my headphones on and i listen to your reaction of this song.... OMG i feel shivers of cold down my spine when all those bagpipes started..... kippenvel...... chickenskin.... this is beautiful!! Thank you Highly I loved it. Love your shirt by the way! 🤨💜💜🌹🌹
You think 200 pipers is loud, try 1,000 pipers, that is what I experienced way back in 1978 at The Crystal Palace Soccer Stadium in South East London UK. After hearing it, I could still hear the pipes going home in the car, this is a Great video & version of a hymn, I have reduced people to tears when playing it on the pipes.
Germany here, been to the Edinburgh Military Tattoo in 2013. Loved it, if you got the opportunity to listen to stuff like this live it will be a experience you will never forget.
Scotland been to Germany 1967-72. Royal Signals 16 Sigs then 11 Armd Bde. Then civvy visits to Berlin. Great country and people. 👌👌👌👌🏴🏴🏴🏴🏴
Every year at the Glengarry Highland games in Ontario, the massed bands with over a thousand pipers play "Gracie" . If that doesn't send a rush up your spine you're dead !
I'm from Scotland and proud to be Scottish, watching this video always makes me get goosebumps. As i was watching you, your eyes were filled with awe and wonder at the sheer majesty of the bagpipes with the soulful vocals of the Bass singer.. Scotland salutes you.
Yeah, it was good, but if you want to hear even better Scots anthems, you want to hear the Scottish supporters singing their two national anthem, then tune into them singing at world wide football stadiums, better still - Be there and listen to the supporters singing with pride, even with a tear in their eyes! Yes we are a proud Nation!
Being Scottish is a great privilege and honour, if you like Amazing Grace, then you will love the flower of Scotland or Loch Lomond sang by every Scot who attends rugby/football at our national Stadiums! Scottish pipers in years gone bye, were always at the front when going into battle, many armies fled before they seen them! Yes being Scottish makes one so proud that can bring one to tears listening to us Scots all singing our National Anthem! The world want to know Scotland now after they had watched H potter films? CRAZY!
True story and William Wilberforce. Who helped end slavery globally. Something which was law in UK since 1066. Any man who landed on British soil was a free man. The song was written in 1772 by English Anglican clergyman and poet John Newton (1725-1807).
I am a middle aged Scottish man and if a guy wi a piper playing and had our colours I would follow them into hell without question and I can't explain it.
The bagpipes always brings tars to my eyes, it’s just the sound they are so haunting, so beautiful. And that Carl Ellis’ voice was superb. Thoroughly enjoyed it, almost on a level with Dan Vasc’s metal version, although you can’t compare the two, completely different from each other.
You should have a look at massed pipes and drums during the Edinburgh Military Tattoo. Preferably before the 90s when Scotland had still many battalions and pipe bands.
If you want to hear Amazing Grace at it.s best look up the Royal Scots Dragoon Guards no singing just Bagpipes and drums no singing it spoils the effect you will not hear better
I’ve never understood people who feel they need to talk through a video, what do you bring to the party, these videos are much better without the commentators who latch onto people with talent
You should react to a video of Music Show Scotland. The largest touring Scotland music show in the world. With a live band and some great singers. I would suggest When the Pipers play for you to watch.
I've been a piper for nearly 53 years. Many times I've played Amazing Grace with as much as 500 pipers at one time. It's pretty epic being in all of that. ButI see the reactions from the crowd. Some look at the ground, some pray and some break out crying. And watching it on video isn't even close to actual experience.
Took part in the Berlin military Tattoo in the late '70's in the Deutschlandhalle. Not sure how many pipers were there but I suspect it was at least 200. One of the resident infantry batallions was the Royal Irish Rangers and their pipers are just top notch. To say it sends a tingle down the spine of most British squaddies is an understatement. The pipes vibrate through your bones right thrhough to the tear ducts.
That is why I lovge reaction video's/channels to face special music. This is certanly a cry maker on a funeral. Some news you would like is that with the upcomming Dutch f1 Grandprix Floor will sing the Dutch national anthem.

Yeah I am from the military and we do have little digs at each other and that in the British way is an expression of our humour.
One goes down, we all go down. That's why we all stand behind every one of our islands hymns and instruments. Punching, as they say.
As a proud highlander I agree,
I bet Scot’s soldiers hated you if you think you had their respect calling them sweaty socks you’re sadly mistaken.

Amazing Grace is one of my favorite songs and these pipers were very good, but it didn't move my heart. There were too many base & tenors singing it.
The song originally had a very simple and pure tune and it has been theatricalised to an extent where I really can't listen to it any more.
