They edited an explosion out of Monsters Inc too. They also had to write an explosion free ending for the Bourne Identity. It's shocking to think that they were like "We can't have explosions anymore", especially when you consider that it was the result of one terrorist attack and wars had been happening in other parts of the world through the 20th Century. I guess it shows how desensitised we can be to conflict that happens in far off countries.

Ghostbusters: The Video Game was also edited. They remove a level of the towers and the towers in the skyline. However, Ghostbusters: The Video Game takes place in the 90s. This could mean two things: 911 did happen in the ghostbusters world, just in the 90s. Or the towers were never built.

i think those kinds of situations are the funnier outcomes like. by either removing or adding the towers you're inherently messing up the canon or changing the meaning of history and creating an alternate timeline,,, it's like how there's a muppet movie that suggests that kermit being born indirectly caused 9/11 to happen because of editing issues with the footage they had
