- In this video you can hear "Ich ruf zu dir" (BWV 639) from Orgelbüchlein by Johann Sebastian Bach, a famous collection of 46 Chorale Preludes for organ.
The melodies of these Chorale Preludes are not by Bach, they are from the tradition of the Lutheran Church.
The video was recorded in the Abbey Church of Saints Andrew and Thomas Apostles, Pontevico (BS), Luca Raggi at the Mascioni organ.

I'm not a Christian but every time I listen to this magnificent piece something inside me wants to do something else that I'm not doing. I hope I can listen to this live sometime.

Definitely agree. Just want to say I think Sebastian is actually the name that was commonly used, not Johan. There were many different Johan Bachs with different second names, the second name being the differentiator and the name actually used. But I could be wrong.

BWV 177 - "Ich ruf zu dir, Herr Jesu Christ" : "I call to You, Lord Jesus Christ,I beg You, hear my cries, grant me mercy at this time, do not let me despair; The true faith, Lord, I mean that You would give me, to live for You, to be of use to my neighbor, to keep Your word faithfully." The longing for an answer to this sincere prayer is what Bach meant by creating this musical setting. The music cannot be separated from the text. I believe Bach wrote it to more clearly communicate the meaning of the words.
The aim and final end of all music should be none other than the glory of God and the refreshment of the soul.

Dear Luca, This piece makes the soul lift up. Congratulations ! Perhaps if it were played faster, it wouldn't cause the effect as if it were a meditation. To me, the tempo is perfect. I have listened to this piece in a faster way by other organists, but it hasn't been of my will. I simply enjoy the music you play and the way you do it. Grazie molte per tutti quanti.

I've been learning to play the piano for 1.5 years now, and it's really difficult (currently mastering Chorale Prelude BWV 659). But organ!

this organ has some real punch. nice playing. i think i have a cd of organ and choir of henrik schultz's music recorded from this church. may be mistaken, but i am going to review my cd collection, in order to see. i'll let you know, should i find it. btw, you have such a relaxed approach to the instrument...very calming to view. best wishes.
