- In this series, we'll level as an Orc Shaman on the Bloodsail Buccaneers Classic Vanilla server, with specific Hardcore rules.
RAMBLES' RULES
Death means we Delete the character
No questing addons
We have to craft all of our own gear (in slots that can be crafted)
Can only eat food we've cooked or fished ourselves
No grouping
No Auction House
Immersion, Yes! Questy, No! Greens crafted, Yes! Is this a 1-shot? 1 death, 1 erase? Blacksmithing, for weapons? You’d buy or trade for ore. Great new series!
He has done this kind of playthrough before. It was quite enjoyable to watch.

Hi Robert! My very first WoW toon ever was an Orc Shaman, way way back in 2005 or 2006, I can't remember. I've enjoyed your content for the nostalgia factor quite a lot since I discovered you. WoW was a huge part of my happiness and well-being during the mid 2000s - early 2010s. Seeing the game as I remember it, with an Orc Shaman, is about as nostalgic as I think it can get. Looking forward to this run - best of luck. :)

Very cool! My one advice is: don't be afraid to just grind out mobs. If all your quests look too hard for where you're at, just go kill mobs for a while and xp up. Otherwise, you'll end up dying pretty early 😊

Most Hardcore runs that I see use mods, as they don't make the game easier, with the actual challenge coming from the run restrictions itself.
This series is gonna be great. This make me want to level like this in classic.

Excited for another hardmode run! Been a while. Personally, I have no problem with using Questy; I don't see how it makes a real difference.
I would use Questie just for the sake of not missing quests. XP will be important since you aren’t doing dungeons. And with Questie you can pretty much turn everything else off.

For a hardcore run, generally speaking it's pretty advisable to stay out of caves, towers or large expansive buildings, because it's much easier to get stuck on a bad pull and die, since you you have fewer places you can run to and it's much harder to shake off aggro. Stay outside as much as you can and try to always have a clear route back to safety. If you feel like you're going in deep, it's up to you to decide whether it's worth the risk or not, but more often than not, it's safer to retrace your steps and wait a bit for the respawns on the outer edges, rather than pushing in deep for additional mobs. Ofcourse, it is more exciting to take risks every now and then, which is probably better for video quality.
If everything you need is on the outside, I'd recommend not entering any enclosed space that you can't quickly exit. Only go inside caves, buildings, towers etc if the things you need can only be found inside them and even then, make sure you always have a straight run back to the outdoors as often as possible. If the way inside has been cleared before you arrived, be very wary about proceeding inside, because you have no way of telling how long ago someone else cleared the path before you and no idea when the respawns will show up, meaning there's a real risk of you getting pincered in.
Zombieland rule 22: When in doubt, know your way out. If you're not sure where the exit is or how to get there quickly, stop everything you're doing and find/clear it before pushing further ahead.

I know I’m a little late to the party here, but there is a new classic add on called Voice Over that uses ai voice overs to read the quest texts and it’s actually pretty damn good.
A lot of hardcore players like myself still use adding such as rxp and I’ve seen a lot of people use questie as well :)

Are these twitch streams? It's really calming and nostalgic. This is exactly what I used to do. Even made me think about playing the game again to do these kind of runs. Spices up chilled leveling
Addons are fine in HC. There is actually a hardcore addon
Questie is good to have and you can also use rested XP

if you would be willing to use a guide mod rested xp addon has a hardcore mode that steers you away from super hard quests or have u do quests before to make it easier

So what is the difference between the RP servers and normal. I was thinking there were restrictions on how you played the game, which is why I avoided them.

Am I missing something? Pretty sure you don't have to craft the stuff you can craft. You can equip quest rewards of those slots. Am I wrong?

Yeah I did a hardcore run in runescape to not die. Died by some random volcano erupting and killing me in wilderness. well at least he died looking for the mythical rune ore.

You're not playing with the hardcore addon? It restricts you from doing stuff by accident.
I like using my addons for HC but like my hud being minimal!
Addons are in my opinion something that the community needs to use because blizzard will take them away from us.
Does hc mode necessarily mean not grouping?
Yes, unless running dungeons with other HC players
Most hardcore players on youtube use mods. It's up to you if you want a mod or two.
you could try a run with no hud. all you see is your hp.

you need to record your whole run, if you die when your not recording you still need to delete
Good idea, play a game style you know nothing about other than death=delete
I'm I crazy or Retail looks nothing like Classic WoW. The Design of Retail WoW now looks like a Cartoon Mobile game.
I watch a lot HC. You aren’t breaking any rules by using addons or using dropped or purchased items. The main rules to HC are death=delete. No grouping in open world but you can group with other HC players for a dungeon but can only run it once. No auction house. You doing a modified solo self made HC run.
Oh. And there is a dedicated HC addon but I don’t know where to get it
