- In this video I visit some of my favorite thrift stores in my hometown and in Door County, Wisconsin. I show you what I bought and what I paid for my items. I found some great home decor at astonishing prices. My haul includes a vintage hardware cubbie, bread box, coffee table, a Marx metal doll house, a vintage flour sifter and other vintage red handled kitchen utensils, midcentury wooden fruit, a vintage kerosene turned electric lamp, a huge original oil painting, a number 2 crock mixing bowl, and much more. Finally, I show you how I styled these purchases in my home.

@@CanterburyCottage oh that would make the cutest snow globe! I was lucky enough to find someone selling older, flat sided machines; my stepson refurbished one for me as a surprise. It's beautiful!

Also a tip….
If u have an oil painting that is loose feeling in the frame and u want to tighten it up in the frame, take very very warm water and a rag rub down the BACK of the painting, I usually do this outside in the sun, and leave it to dry in the heat for approximately an hour or so( u don’t want it to get damaged) , and that will tighten up the canvas in the frame, repeat if need more tightening.

Yes! Our Goodwills are expensive on almost everything. Our Restore is as well especially the furniture section.

Hi Sherry! I live in Wisconsin, near Milwaukee right along Lake Michigan. I have to say, the Goodwill nearest to me is so expensive. That coffee table probably would have gone for 15 or more! I can't wait to see what you do with the rest of your finds!

I loved the hardware cabinet and the squirrel, I love squirrels, when I sit outside on my porch the neighborhood squirrels will come right up to me to visit! I live in WI and was glad to see you visited and enjoyed Door County, it's a beautiful place.

I loved the hardware cabinet, as well. My Habitat Restore here is apparently a boutique now. The prices have gotten just completely whacko. My lands. 🤦♀️I totally have that wooden fruit! I wish my Goodwills were priced like yours!! The stores in my area are so over priced!! The last straw for me was when I saw a little pair of ceramic rain boots (like a small planter or something)and it still had the Kirklands original price tag and also a sale tag (originally like $5.99 and sale tag was like 3.99 i believe) but Goodwill wanted $6.99 for it!! I even said something to the cashier about it and she literally just stared at me and said nothing!! Needless to say I didn't buy it and I haven't been back there.

I have never seen a small bread box like that-usually, they are twice that size. I have my K-cups inside. If I come across another one, I’ll send it to you!😀

Definitely the hardware cabinet but I agree you have such talent, can't wait for part two. I am in Wisconsin and Door County is our pride. For thrifting, next time you get to Madison check out the St Vincent de Paul dig n save, most of it is sold by the pound, gosh you can have fun for very little money but the dig part is accurate, it takes some time but you can find some treasures!

Here in Mississippi the goodwill stores are very over priced. That mirror would have been $20 bucks.

I loved the oil painting! My grandmother was a artist and I have several of her oil paintings and your painting reminded me so much of one hers. I immediately looked up at hers I have hung in my dining room when you showed yours. It’s one of my favorites!❤️

Thank you, Patti! Yes, I was completely surprised! My brother sent me a video link of the song “Fox on the Run” by Sweet a few days before its arrival, and I still had no idea! Our parents both died in their early 70’s, so it is just the two of us now. I am luck to have him!

Do you have English heritage? Your taste is so much like me mum's. As well as my nanny's (grandmother). I think that adds to my love of watching your videos. I love your creativity, your talent for decorating, and your calm demeanor. My favs this time is the drawer cabinet, the fox, and well, everything else. Some things that you showed along the way were iffy for me. But when you them home, and displayed them, I fell totally in love with every item. You're so blessed to live in a place to find the pieces you do. And for the prices you get. In CA, that would never happen. Thx so much for bringing my British out, and letting me stroll down memory lane. 🤗
I am English and Scottish on my mom’s side of the family, but my grandparents were born in the US. I have always been drawn to the comfy, collected look of English cottages. I also taught British Literature for 20 years (including the Canterbury Tales). It was the combination of these two things that contributed to the name of my channel. My son lived in Huntington Beach for a few years but moved back to Illinois because it was just so expensive to live there! You definitely pay for the beautiful weather and scenery!

I love everything, but esp. the red kitchen goodies and the bread box. At 11:42, is that a wooden cheese container you put feet on? We surely have the same taste. Wish you lived close, as I have lots to get rid of and downsize 50 years of collecting. Would love you to do a home tour of all your finds.....
That is a cheese box with feet! I actually added those feet in a previous video. I have done some home tours in previous videos, but it might be time to do another one and focus on all my thrift store finds (which is almost everything in my house!) I guess you saw that I was attempting to dry those gourds/squash. I read that you loosely wrap them in brown paper and leave me them in a cool airy room. We’ll see. Even it doesn’t work, I thought they looked pretty in the bowl.

Thank you! I had a cheese box a few years ago and couldn’t figure out what to do with it, so I ended up selling it in my booth (and it took a long time to sell even though it was reasonably priced). Even so, I wish I would have bought that one. I might have thought of a way to use it this time! BTW I’m going to check out your channel. I just looked you up and you have beautiful thumbnails!

Yes the hardware cabinet! Beautiful. When I was a child we had one my Dad made in the garage and they had plastic pulls in bright 1950s colours. I always hankered after it but it got left behind in a move. I don’t know if it would have cleaned up so beautifully. I love the fact that you left the bits of labels on it.

Wow…on those furniture prices from your goodwill. My goodwill’s sell a crappy particle board night stand for almost $10.00. When you said goodwill was cheap, I was like…NOT. 😂 Usually our store is higher priced.

My little one and I can’t get enough of your videos. We love thrifting, vintage home decor and DIY! Loved them all, especially the cubby drawers but loves the vintage metal cookie cutters in the large jar. Love the pumpkin mugs serving as utensil holders and decor besides for its intended use.
