Then adding the black to the facet where the can lights are and the trim on the book case just took it up to grand ! LOL!! Good pick on the paint color! Whites definitely need light from windows, doors, etc to look clean and crisp. Light tones brighten rooms and you did excellent ( which I knew you would ) I can’t wait to see the rest of this apartment come to life for your son! Your dedication to care when prepping surfaces is why I love your channel. That and your ideas and decorating sense, of course! I think pulling up all that underlying paper on the that was left behind after you removed the flooring was a good idea because that paper could have held smells in it from the water damage. So don’t regret the time you took to do it right!

So many great tips and tricks as usual. My downstairs flooring is all large marbled tiles that are really hard and Im fearful of my nieces and nephews getting hurt if they fall down on them. The floating tiles are a great solution for my situation. Thank you so much for sharing and best wishes!

When I was house hunting years ago I passed up a couple of houses because of their "creepy" basements (reminded me of Blair Witch). Now, I'm thinking maybe they could have been renovated into something better if I'd had the time. You always amaze me with your ingenuity, Sherry (and a very sweet mom). It would be funny to have that music play whenever someone walks into their creepy basement, wouldn't it? Maybe not for the homeowner, but still!
Well, I'm ready to move in! I couldn't imagine how you were going to make that soffit loose its 'eyesore' look but you did it. And I love your fix to the pass-through. Carpet tiles was a great idea but I was concerned seeing you rip up the old sheet linoleum. I was told linoleum from the '80's was asbestos lined but don't know if that's actually true. Thanks for the tip on white paint. I'm planning on painting my house soon. Now I'll look for something with a hint of lavender or green.

I think I would’ve had my son or son’s remove the linoleum from the floor first, it’s only right that they do with a little work for the space. There’s nothing wrong with them doing the manual labor

I have never liked black paint but I have to say it looks wonderful. The black paint makes the walls look brighter, and the whole room look marvellous

So many great tips and tricks as usual. My downstairs flooring is all large marbled tiles that are really hard and Im fearful of my nieces and nephews getting hurt if they fall down on them. The floating tiles are a great solution for my situation. Thank you so much for sharing and best wishes!

Wow what a gift you gave your son, what a great feeling of independence having his own space! And your son’s girlfriend, you just added some value to the home. Lol beautiful work, creative and inspiring as always. I learned something new about the paint color in an enclosed space, like spas use…that was my takeaway! And when I redo my basement I will keep that in mind!

Thank you, Chelle! I always assumed that carpet tiles had to be stuck to the floor. Whoever invented floating carpet tiles is a genius! They saved me from hours of scraping the floor.

When I was house hunting years ago I passed up a couple of houses because of their "creepy" basements (reminded me of Blair Witch). Now, I'm thinking maybe they could have been renovated into something better if I'd had the time. You always amaze me with your ingenuity, Sherry (and a very sweet mom).
It would be funny to have that music play whenever someone walks into their creepy basement, wouldn't it? Maybe not for the homeowner, but still!
My husband has the same reaction. We have looked at older homes with creepy basements, and he is just like, “nope!”

Well, I'm ready to move in! I couldn't imagine how you were going to make that soffit loose its 'eyesore' look but you did it. And I love your fix to the pass-through. Carpet tiles was a great idea but I was concerned seeing you rip up the old sheet linoleum. I was told linoleum from the '80's was asbestos lined but don't know if that's actually true. Thanks for the tip on white paint. I'm planning on painting my house soon. Now I'll look for something with a hint of lavender or green.

I think I would’ve had my son or son’s remove the linoleum from the floor first, it’s only right that they do with a little work for the space. There’s nothing wrong with them doing the manual labor
I agree!!! Unfortunately, Spencer was out of town with his job when I was working on the basement floor. My oldest son, Nick, was also working, but when he was available he moved all of the furniture into the basement for me.
