    but if you're in the beginning and you're still in the first or second system, for instance, how would you do uworld in random mode? i mean wouldn't it take time to learn the material in the questions about systems you haven't studied yet?

    What do you think about doing 1 year research fellowship before applying to residency ? Is it good idea ? Is it worth ? Or any other master degree that help increasing a chance to match in residency ?

    The fact nearly every doctor want to practice in the USA busts the "I want to be a doctor to help" nonsense. Doctors are after $$$$.

    • @sidramir3211
      @sidramir3211 3 ปีที่แล้ว +17

      True & False
      True because can you blame them? Medschool isn't cheap- most have taken student loans that they NEED to pay off
      False because- the US in addition to offering dollars, offers amazing training as part of its residency to junior doctors- the like of which you can't hope to get in the UK. Also its a much faster process to become a specialist than in the UK.

    • @Kencan254
      @Kencan254 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@sidramir3211 Student loans? In most 3rd world countries, medical ed is free or highly subsidized. South Africa where medical education is next to free is losing doctors to Canada. What loans are fleeing to Canada to pay? Greed is the answer.

    • @sidramir3211
      @sidramir3211 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@Kencan254 this is a video catering to doctors from the UK going to the US. The UK isn't a third world country and it is common for people to take student loans in such countries. Also in the 3rd world there might be other factors at play- lack of security etc. Finally people might just want to go to the US or Canada to give their family's a better shot at life- that's not greed. That's wanting the best for your family.

    • @lucietukalova
      @lucietukalova 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Because of the state of medical care and how it's handled in the US, I wouldn't really say they're doing it better, but something to consider is the fact that their hospitals are rarely underfunded.
      You can do the best you can as a doctor in some countries and still be frustrated with not being able to provide the care that you know is possible, but without the means - materials, drugs, machines, even people in some extremes cases of understaffing to cut costs - it takes a toll on you.
      Most people stay and do what they can, but I would honestly say that the few that leave maybe just want to be able to do better, not only in terms of pay, but possibilities also.
