If it doesnt work for you, try to -> Render "Cycles" -> Bake -> tick off the "Selected to Active"

For some reason whenever I try and make a new VDM brush it just wont work. For some reason it just doesnt even make the image at all, how do I fix it?

Hi, First save the file before making the brush so vdm image is saved in same folder. In the add on click the plane button and sculpt something on it. Bake and don't change any other setting. Test in a new clean file. Also re-download latest blender 3.6. Hopefully it should work.
