I’ve had my tuned ‘16 550SL for over 2 years. I’m excited to drive it anytime. What sold me was the seats hugging me around the turns and the finish is beautiful. I have the B&O system also. Sometimes it feels like my car was made for me. I’ve cruised up to Gatlinburg and down to the Keys it’s the easiest car to drive. Everyone I talk to misses their SL. I am very happy with my car.
What a car! Great review! I'm lookin at buying a 2015 for $46k with 22k miles. Never thought about a Mercedes (as I've been more of a Porsche, Range Rover Sport & Dodge Ram guy), but kinda wanting a convertible again, bigger than the Porsche Carrera I had)
I have a 2014 for 5 1/2 years. Every time I think about getting something newer, I realize that I love this car and I would have to spend 3x the money for a true upgrade. Look great, run great, no mechanical issues. I did have to replace the turbo seals this year, but thats maintenance, not a fail. Interior is another issue. The metal buttons on the console are starting to wear. The center console spring loaded gear broke, so I have to open it manually, and occasionally the driver seat massage leaks. None of theses are major issues or crazy fixes, but they did occur.
@@j.jmcquade5278 You're welcome. I drove a lot of cars and this one put the biggest smile on my face, well, after the Ferrari 488, so I got it. Holding out for the Ferrari.
@@edwardcovelli4751 try a SL63, I had a 2018 for 2 years sold when covid hit... I loved that car... I took it to the drag strip and ran a low of 11.46 at 126 mph..

With the top down, the width of the car from the rear is insane, classy and sporty, best of both worlds
I looked at one pretty seriously and couldn’t get past the looks. I wound up buying the last model year R230 instead (2012).
Looks are subjective, the late R230 are a solid choice, still look current and stylish.
Amazing car! I have driven it! It’s unbelievable.

@@edwardcovelli4751 thank you for all the info! Torn between a few different vehicles, but this one just seems like a lot of bang for the buck!
