Honestly, it sounds kinda sad but this is exactly what I want for a Warriors game, the same game over and over with updated graphics, characters and moves. DW9 was such a departure, the absolutely barren open world, the rock-paper-scissors-esque battling like they had in their Fire Emblem game, the awful AC viewpoints. Just give me a bunch of different maps and 1000s of enemies to fight, that's what the warriors series is to me.
Wo3 had maps and that many enemies.

I really liked FE warriors rock paper scissors systems. It added a greater purpose behind the character commanding that the previous samurai chronicles games just didn't have. Now should it be in every warriors game... Definitely not. However, it made FE warriors feel unique and I do hope we see a sequel to it at some point.

@@Supercomet13A I didnt like and never finished FE Warriors but I think it was more that the game's story, atleast as far as I got, was just Awakening's story again, than not enjoying the rock-paper-scissors combat. Would've preferred an original story myself.
I personally loved the story change for this game, the involvement of Greek, Norse and other gods was a nice change of pace

The little optional scenes between characters is to show you which characters will work well together in a team. This boosts stats with the affinity system.

The ordinary soldiers are so easy to beat, i miss them being a challange , like a group of musket/crossbow men making you rethink charging in lol
Oh man, i miss that too. I think it was DW2 where the squad of crossbowmen were about the deadliest thing on the battlefield

I remember warriors orochi 2 and dynasty warriors 5 and even 6 to be pretty challenging on chaos, which the newer games dont have.

Framerate on xbox one x is a steady 60fps. Havnt noticed any dips yet. It looks great
On pc just play on medium settings. And switch power profile and v-sync to max performance and on/off.
The pc version if u get it has some bugs in high mode, should be fixed in the next couple days/weeks. But cant really tell a difference between medium and high settings imo.
This has been very fun! I downloaded today and was not disappointed!!!
Only thing I dislike is how easy this game is.... I miss DW4 and even WO1 and 2. There were actually challenging levels!

out of all the warriors games samurai warriors 2 is my all time favorite. sadly none of the other warriors games ive played have brought me such enjoyment as that game did

Love this i havent played this yet but only for the reason that I didn't know it was out. This and nine are the only two warriors games I have not played but unlike 9 I'll be picking this up.
I think I'll wait for the Ultimate version since many of my favorite characters don't have significant amount of changes and new costumes

In Coop does the 2nd player still use the 1st players characters like before? Or do they get to level up thier own favorites? Before it didnt' make sense when my friends or I would join a game only to gain no progress on your own characters whatsoever and just help them along just as well as a AI could of done.

buying this game on xb1 today. Also I wish KT would port samurai warriors 4 over to the xb1 already! This game has SW4 characters now we just want to play as them in their own stand along games.
I got a PS4 for many games, including SW. So I know how it feels to only have an XB1 and be left without. Hopefully one day they bring it over to ya'll.

Square Enix was Console exclusive to PS for a very long time, yet there are FFs and KH3 on the Xbox One. Warriors Orochi, DW9, DW8 Empires are all on Xbox, and if Warriors Orochi 4 sells well on the Xbox, that’s a potential boon to sales. If you can win on 2 fronts, why limit yourself and potential buyers to one?

i was wishing for an warriors orochi game with characters from samurai warriors 4 and dynasty warriors 8 since warriors orochi 3 ultimate, so this game is a dream come true for me, i preordered it since september, now i have to wait until friday to finally play it ♥

Anyone else notice a new Dynasty Warriors 8 Empires update? Last i checked my external was a week ago, and yesterday i checked and saw a new DW8E update so it must have came out within the week. I keep all games updated with a weekly check on my external storage. So it cant be an old update i missed.
Honestly, one of the things I've always loved the most about the Dynasty Warriors and Samurai Warriors games has been the historical connections, so I've never been quite as fond of the Orochi games. That being said, I still find them enjoyable for their characters and gameplay, as well as the various weaponry and ways the characters use them. I was introduced to the Dynasty Warriors series first, so out of interest in history and the book it's based on as well as nostalgia, I have to admit I like the Dynasty series slightly more than the Samurai series. You would think seeing both of them would be a dream come true for me, but I can't really get into the storylines of the Orochi series. It's not that they aren't at least entertaining, I just find them a bit contrived and hokey without historical context.
All of that being said, I still plan on playing this game as I still find this spin-off to be a fun one. Besides, after the fiasco that was Dynasty Warriors 9, I'm looking forward to hacking and slashing around ancient times again back before the series went open world and subsequently ruined itself in doing so on so many levels.
First though, I'm going to play Red Dead Redemption 2, and maybe either Soul Calibur VI or the upcoming new Call of Cthulhu game coming out, depending on how the two stack up in quality combined with my peeked interest. ^_^
In Wo3 Motonari actually mentions knowing Dw characters since he is a historian. You have to play as a him in the camp .

I only played WO and WO3U.But the story plot of WO3U is really great.I remembered WO2 have quite a number of “what if” stages.So far,WO series seems to do a good job on developing the relationship between DW and SW.DW and SW does have good plot as well but from a story which is already in its 9th and 4th installment.You kinda just repeat what’s told previously,which is WO4.But at least,WO4 “cheat” by using WO3U ending which resulted in everyone forgetting their times in the Orochi world.
Well as a guy who loves mythology warriors Orochi is pretty fun, I mean granted they don't get everything accurate but with good reason (Like Da Ji is extensively described as being incredibly brutal to humans and I am very glad they made her more of a mischievous trickster instead)
So with both the history and the mythological figures I get double the stimulation even though most of it is fictitious and not based on actual events that occur within the respective mythologies.

I think everyone does. However, there has never been a Warriors Orochi Empires, and I don't think there ever will be. I would love that!
Thank you we need more Empired game with an indepth real battle storyline for each faction you pick. Along with Multiple in game Deciecion based outcomes considering you can invade and be your own ruler. They can do this with warriors orochi if they made an empires version.
Couple months ago, i heard someone said or told me that Warriors Orochi 4 is a rust game. That make me think that they didnt take the time to put everything from Dynasty Warriors 8 Empires, Samurai Warriors 4 II stuff files into Warriors Orochi 4 stuff files.
So id it safe to say Warriors Orochi is a very good purchase today (in 2024) or should i buy something else???
For full price its quite alot imo for Wo4 unless its the ultimate version than its a bit beter imo.
For the most fun imo is Wo3 Ultimate.

Dynasty warriors used to be amazing when it came out for the ps2, the enemies actually attacked and ganked around ya! Surprising i know.

DW 3 was the last in the line I played which was actually a challenge. The music peaked at that time too. However DW5 was still good because of the 'custom' character mode.

They nerfed Zhuge Liang’s ground musuo. It’s not “Call upon the thunder” anymore, but instead the lightning orb that flies around doing minimal damage... I wish they didn’t change him. He sucks now.
Chun Yang they did this to my boy masamune too, now his combos looks like shit and do shit damage, the only thing good is the musou

They removed all DW8 characters' secondary ground musou to compensate the Sacred Art Technique. That means certain characters don't have their powerful musou and OP grappling musou.
Yet all the DW characters keep their EX attacks while samurai characters can't use rush attacks against enemies that block. Kinda weird balance

i just wish they would FILL the screen with enemies, the way dead rising did. maybe the enemies in the back could be just part of the background and as you get close to them they "wake-up" and engage you. All the blank areas during these wars gives me anxiety.

So when you go into the game in the bottom left corner it says like 2nd player join or something like that, so you just have a second controller hook up
Do any of the generic enemies even attack? Do they even have attack animations, because I never saw a single one. I always liked the mindless fun they offered, but now it seems units just stand there and are nothing more than fodder to build up a musou gauge, of which will newrly if not completely one-shot-kill a boss. The hell is going on... Someone even said there is no more gauntlet mode. Double what the hell?!
They do. You wont see much on lower diff of course since you'll be so focused on your own combos. On higher diff, when your weapon start to fall off on damage and can't even kill the goons, you'll see. They'll gank you, and eat your hp like its nothing.
The first Dynasty Warriors was a fighter and looked super similar to Tekken 2. They most definitely deviated from their original formula. Heavily.
Wo3 ultimate has duel mode which is similar to Og dynasty warriors.

Their base charge attacks suck compared to wo1 and 2.
They need to deify more if not all characters. Imagine seeing deified versions with the likes of Gan Ning, Meng Hou, Zhu Rong, Sun Jian, Toshie Maeda, Yoshihiru Shimazu, Kotaro Fuma, Tadakatsu Honda.

I have not play any game similar to orochi warriors 4 nor any dynasty warriors game series. Frankly not sure if i should be getting this game. Even if i decided on getting it, i am not sure if i should get it on my switch or PC. Thou switch community is smaller and not as huge resolution as PC (unless u link it to a monitor), switch games has got resales value cos it is not tied to the bloody stupid Steam/Origin/Uplay which restrict resales.

Warriors orochi 3 is a little bit older, i think it came out in 2013 but its still an excellent game, if you want to try out the series i recommend that because it will be cheaper than warriors orochi 4. The dynasty warriors games are just overall relaxing to play, its fun to hack and slash through enemies and complete objectives while listening to the awesome soundtrack and collecting all the characters in the game.
I got it for switch and I'm really enjoying it. Playing in handheld does scale some things back but by no means is it unplayable. Biggest thing I've noticed is fewer people on screen.
Why WO3 Never port on PC?
On sale right now for $20 at bestbuy website. Would buy it but look too easy, will wait for a new samurai warriors for difficulty.

I cannot beat this game! Not out of inability...but because of a game breaking glitch! In the Sidequest stage: "Battle For Provisions" the enemy officers don't load. I mean, they're there, but they're invisible. You can lock on to where they SHOULD be and the lock on marker actually moves around as if there is someone there, but you can't see or even hit them. I tried everything, Musous, magic, Rages...but you can't hit them. I sat there and let the bases get taken which literally took over an hour, but that did nothing. I beat every other sidequest, and even campaign quests, but this one still won't work. Someone PLEASE tell me that I'm not alone here? Did I get the only wonky copy of this game that can't be completed to 100% just because of a glitch?

All dynasty warriors characters have 2 ex. And have 2 musous. In addition to having the rage. All samurai warriors characters have 2 musous as well, some characters have New unique moves here And there in their skill comb

I always thought the warriors series was a dancing game, a really epic dancing game.
the only games that I've played is the 1st Orochi, Sanurai Warriors 2 extreme, and the dynasty warrior 2... never played any other than the one that I can played on the PS2... but I love the series so much...

Best Dynasty Warriors was the one with poison,ice,fire orbs; shit ton of maps/mission and toxic waters with elephants, tigers and Meng being a boss on the same map. Shit they even had one mission with the most archers I ever seen stack together; put that on a good difficulty and you're dead trying to reach that place lol. That's one thing I've always miss about old dynasty warriors game difficulty, secret mission/weapon, unique maps etc. Samurai Warriors always give you that extreme difficulty if you're in search of it, they just need to stop cutting stories short or removing a game mode.

Reading all these comments from fans of the series makes me so happy. Working gamestop(the devil i know) i was one of 3 people who picked up DW9. Had already played a bit of it and just internally cried at how crap it was. The last person came to pick up their copy, i told them i was a fan too..we nerded out and then she asked how it was...i cringed and told her it had actual chinese language added...thats cool for a game set in china right? She didnt understand and just took the game and left...i feel so bad...i dont like ruining a genuine experience. I hope she enjoyed as much as she could ^_^

Dynasty Warriors shouldn’t be an open world game. DW4 and The first Warriors Orochi remain my top favorites of the franchise. The only thing that should improve are the graphics because the old game mechanisms are perfect the way they are.

also I think the AI is better then ever I can rarely get out a combo without a spearman charging me in the back (hard or pandemonium) or a rifleman knocking me over or a volley of arrows dropping me to half health or an officer 1 shotting me with a musou attack or spamming magic so I cant even get near him

My problem was playing on the same maps over and over again.
It's a shame this review doesn't mention anything about audio, like the english voice acting or whether there is voice acting in the actual missions so you don't have to read while you're fighting at the same time.

the real problem with this kind of game is that, they overpower players with crazy moves while the enemies falls down like a petal. koei should empower the enemies to make this game somewhat enjoyable...
