Hi, my name is Michael Nielsen. I'm a composer/producer. I write music for movie trailers, video game soundtracks, commercials, movies and tv shows. Pre-beard Zakk was his best playing and tone IMO.

@@ayeapprove He got too comfortable with fame after Tears and sort of let himself go. His playing also got a bit sloppy.

No Rest for the Wicked is definitely my favorite post-Randy and Jake.
As people have mentioned below those interested in Zakk's tone of this era and many might not know and enjoy is his "solo band/work" called "Pride and Glory" - Some of his strongest guitar work outside of "No More Tears" and early Black Label - IMO
I always loved Zakks sound on those albums,thanks for this.
Little known fact: the Hendrix wah in the chain makes all the difference. It doesnt have to be on but having it in the chain is the secret sauce.

That Zakk tone lives in that Lee Jackson preamp/power amp combo. I still have mine from the late ‘80s.
"I dont Wanna Change the World" is the best riff off No more Tears.

Wow, I was 17 when No Rest for the Wicked was released here in the UK and I was totally blown away by the tone! I've never heard anyone reproduce it...until now! Outstanding job and if I closed my eyes I couldn't tell if Zakk were playing or not! Brilliant! 💪🏼👍🏻🤟🏻🎸

Yeah, you nailed him dude. You’ve been playing for a while man, because you nailed his vibrato...so important. Most vids I see they never nail the vibrato right, and that’s one way to kill a song out of the gate. Great work man.
