    Dude, Thank you!!!
After the winter break, I couldn't start my bike.
Apparently I've enabled this by accident.
    A thousand thanks

Long press is to turn off your remote, not to lock your bike. Short press is to activate sound beep in order to find your xmax easier on large parking area in case you forget where did you park it.

I’ve just had to use this as I had mine on steering lock-changed the battery and it still did not bleep even though the key fob flashed red? Held it down for a couple of seconds on it bleeps so managed to take it off steering lock! Why does this happen?

@@stuartannakin9658 After you replace the battery, you need to turn on the remote by holding button for few seconds.

You‘re only half right. When you press the key shortly, the bike doesn‘t receive any signal from it unless you press it again.
This prevents a very common and stupidly easy method of stealing keyless vehicles by using the key‘s signal with a signal repeater, even if the key itself is out of reach

The long press is just a proximity alert so you can find it. Does not lock the bike. You can only lock the front wheel by turning it to the left ( wheel lock ) . You still need the key fob to start it so as long as you don't leave it near the bike it is secure.

    • @Watson2108
      @Watson2108 ปีที่แล้ว

And that‘s where you‘re wrong. Stealing keyless cars is a very common thing and can be easily achieved with a signal repeater, even if the key itself is not in reach of the vehicle.
By pressing the key after locking the steering no one can catch its signal and therefore cannot unlock the steering or start it

@@Watson2108sorry not wrong ! didn't say you could not steal it , thats not my point, the Smart key button on the fob is a answer back function only, it does not lock the bike. You would need the Smart key to within range which is approximately 1-2 metres to start the bike and unlock the steering lock. How do I know this is because I actually own the Xmax and have tested this function. Pressing the smart key button when leaving the bike only gives the impression that it has an alarm. I'm sure if you contact Yamaha they will confirm also the owners manual states this fact. Yes I'm sure if you're smart enough to use a signal repeater you could potentially steal the bike.

@@gavinr1834 In fact, I own an Xmax too.
I know that it´s not an alarm system but I still like to do it sometimes because potential thieves hearing it might think it HAS an alarm.
Anyway, when you press your key, the bike doesn´t react to any signal from it.
I tested it, you can´t turn the select switch even if the key is right next to the bike.
And stealing vehicles with a signal repeater is veeeeery common at least in the EU.
Every dummy can buy one and using it is just as easy.
They can just walk up to your driveway, one guy stands at the door to catch the signal and the other one can just unlock the doors and start the car, the same would apply for the Xmax.
A week later you can visit your car driving around in Africa...
