These guys are British legends and this track is very, very, popular. Over in the UK, this track fills the dancefloors at parties and weddings. Each to their own, but it's very much part of British culture.
Thanks, guys.. Madness is mostly known for "Our House.. in the middle of our street".. but they were so much cooler than that... ska awesome.. and talented musicians... appreciate your listen & reaction!
For Ska this was a defining song. It was played at every Ska event for years, smashing its way into the mainstream and staying in the mainstream for a very long time. Interesting that you did not rate it very highly, but time changes tastes.
Cover of a Prince Buster Ska b side from late 60's/early 70's - Madness are 'second gen' ska (I was there at the beginning and there when Madness came on the scene, I am still a Nutty Girl)
Its from the 80's and London based mixing white and black music hence SKA or 2Tone (black n white) music. Reggae. You wouldn't understand it/laughing at the lyrics here and Beat Pete lol, I know them and under them cos I'm proud and drunk.
Haha, its quite an iconic cover by Madness. Those instrumentals they did back in the day are fantastic live tracks where everyone just goes mad and this is probably the peak. We've got one more repetitive (almost) instrumental track from Madness to come now. That one at least has a verse but about 75% of the track is instrumental! Cell to Joel as I really didn't think he'd like it more than chuck 😂
So you guys are a little too sensitive for the heavy heavy monster sound ? The nuttsiest sound around ? I am in Chico Texas and I love Madness, maybe a little too much , please be kind, please .
Oh my god when this played on the dance floor! back in the days! Everybody got nuts and danced their asses off! 😀
hahahaha me to.......

Even today, say to a British person, "Hey you!" and there's a good chance they'll respond "Don't watch that, watch this!"

They should be told that the Band wanted to just use this as a fun intro to the Band!,
Nice one
For a ska song that is awesome, watch the official video of 'Ghost Town' by 'The Specials'.
