This cinematic universe had so much potential and yet all of it got wasted because there were so many people who had completely different ideas and visions for how it should play out. It also doesn’t help that some of movies were despised by fans due to studio interference such as the Justice League movie or in this case as it’s now known as, Josstice League. And also, Warner Bros decided Amber Heard and Ezra Miller involved despite the controversy and backlash surrounding both of them.
Same applies with Universal's Dark Universe, as their Monsters franchise lasted nearly a century as of this comment, and should be reintroduced, let alone to new audiences unfamiliar with the likes of Dracula, Frankenstein's Monster, The Wolfman, among others. It failed cuz The Mummy 2017 turned out to be so underwhelming and given more emphasis on Tom Cruise's ego than give respects to the 1932 original and 1999 reimagining. WB letting very controversial and infamous celebrities Ezra "Criminal" Miller and Amber Heard roam free with the movies they're in, didn't help matters. The decision for both made them worse.
Happy New Year, Cody! Discovering your channel was one of my favorite things in 2023. I have gone back and watched the majority of your videos and I've truly enjoyed them. Your knowledge and enthusiasm has accelerated my own movie fandom. Here's to an amazing 2024! I will be with ya for the ride!!
As a point of reference, I watched and took a lot of notes on all seventeen of these movies over the last two months. These are my updated thoughts on all of these movies. 16. Justice League 2017-An absolute abomination that essentially shows the worst of blockbuster filmmaking and studio interference, which makes for an unwatchable film, and one of my least favorite movies ever made 15. Suicide Squad-A classic example of WB micromanagement in this era of the franchise, leading to a deeply broken story, a choppy story structure, a lackluster antagonist, and a script that feels duct taped together by a group of producers 14. Wonder Woman 1984-While I do appreciate the ambitions that Patty Jenkins tried to reach, all of that ambition crumbles over its shoulders because of its nonsensical logic and lack of rules, which completely undermines the story, themes, character arcs, and overall payoff of all of those elements 13. The Flash-Despite enjoying this one a good bit both times I watched it in theaters, this movie has aged rather poorly for me because of how it executes multiple of its ideas, how the overall story is structured, the final moments, and especially how hollow Barry’s journey is by the time the movie wraps up As another point of reference, I would go positive on the rest of these projects 12. Shazam! Fury of the Gods-Even though it loses a lot of the charm of the first film by going bigger with the action and villains, it still provides enough emotion and humor to make for a relatively enjoyable, yet generic superhero movie 11. Black Adam-It’s certainly derivative of plenty of other comic book projects over the last fifteen years, but it delivers enough superficial entertainment for me to have a good enough time with this film 10. Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom-Even though this is still a piece of DCEU leftovers, I did enjoy this movie for its expansion on the lore of the first film, its variety of action, and especially the interactions between Momoa and Wilson 9. Birds of Prey and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn-I’m well aware that this movie doesn’t work for a lot of DC fans, but because of its style, characters, storytelling, and action sequences, this movie works pretty well for me 8. Blue Beetle-For me, this one was actually a pleasant surprise because of the focus on Jaime’s family, its embracing of latino culture, and that it’s a standalone story that wasn’t concerned with tying into a bunch of DC plot points and characters, making for a solid, entertaining film 7. Aquaman-By no means is this movie thought provoking or overly deep, but it definitely entertains me with its globe trotting adventure, sillier humor, action sequences, and Shakespearean storylines 6. Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (Ultimate Edition)-While I do acknowledge that this is a flawed film, I quite enjoy the Ultimate Edition for its ambitious themes, storytelling, and action, as well as having the introduction of Affleck’s Batman and the continuation of Cavill’s Superman 5. Shazam!-A funny, heartfelt addition to the franchise that’s able to be smaller scale because of Billy’s emotional journey, even if the villain doesn’t fully work and the tone is inconsistent 4. Wonder Woman-Even though this movie does fizzle out at the climax, it’s still a rock solid comic book film that has a lot to say about hope and mercy in a broken world, all with well done action and enjoyable fish out of water humor 3. The Suicide Squad-A great DC film that harnesses all of James Gunn’s strengths in his humor, crafting of great team dynamic, hyperviolence, and massive heart at the center of all of it, making for a movie I love every time I watch it 2. Man of Steel-A fantastic 21st century version of the Superman character that has great aesthetics and action from Snyder, a great villain in General Zod, and powerful themes of self discovery to pull it all together, which makes for one of my all time favorite comic book films 1. Zack Snyder’s Justice League-An amazing comic book film that has great character arcs, solid Snyder action, complex, but incredibly satisfying storytelling, a massive scale, and fantastic world building, which makes for a superhero epic that’s absolutely deserving of the Justice League title
R.I.P DCEU, you truly deserved better, here's my ranking 17. Justice League🖕 16. Suicide Squad 15. Wonder Woman 1984 I enjoy the rest 14. Shazam: Fury of the Gods 13. Black Adam 12. Aquaman: Lost Kingdom 11. Birds of Prey 10. The Flash 9. Batman v Superman: Ultimate Cut 8. Blue Beetle 7. Shazam 6. Peacemaker 5. The Suicide Squad 4. Zack Snyder's Justice League 3. Aquaman 2. Wonder Woman 1. Man of Steel Awesome work as always👍
Brother, i just want to say how much i enjoy your unbiased view on movies. I also enjoy how you never give to much away if its a movie i haven't seen. You videos are so much better than the trailers. Keep up the good work!!!
Thanks Cody for another thoughtful and honest video! Here’s how I’d rank the DCEU films: 1. ‘The Suicide Squad’ 2. ‘Wonder Woman’ 3. ‘Shazam!’ 4. ‘Zack Snyder’s Justice League’ 5. ‘Blue Beetle’ 6. ‘Man of Steel’ 7. ‘Birds of Prey’ 8. ‘Aquaman’ 9. ‘The Flash’ 10. ‘Shazam! Fury of the Gods’ 11. ‘Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom’ 12. ‘Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice’ 13. ‘Black Adam’ 14. ‘Wonder Woman 1984’ 15. ‘Suicide Squad’ 16. ‘Justice League’ I hope James Gunn’s new DCU is a creative and financial success.
Man of Steel has been my favorite DCEU film to date. Followed by Zach Snyder's Justice League and Batman Vs. Superman. It was different but also leaned into Superman: The Animated Series a little bit. I hope Superman Legecy leans a lot more into Superman: The Animated Series than what Man of Steel did.
Agree with all of your points. The Flash was an excellent movie, and it should have been the last movie to setup the reboot. I concur with your rankings as well. Thanks for sharing!
Cody I’m so glad you did this ranking. I’ve always had a weird relationship with Batman V Superman because although it’s still not on my Mount Rushmore of favorite DCEU movies, it’s oddly the DCEU film that I have the most nostalgia for because I was so excited to see it in the theaters because this was the first DCEU film to come out since they announced that the DCEU was going to exist so I’ve always looked at it more fondly in recent years. My personal ranking of the DCEU films is this: 1. Wonder Woman 2. The Suicide Squad 3. Zack Snyder’s Justice League 4. Man of Steel 5. Batman V Superman Dawn of Justice 6. Peacemaker 7. Blue Beetle 8. The Flash 9. Birds of Prey 10. Black Adam 11. Aquaman 12. Shazam! 13. Suicide Squad 14. Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom 15. Shazam: Fury of the Gods 16. Wonder Woman 1984
It's funny that you mentioned that idea for The Flash being the canonical ending to the DCEU leading to a new cinematic universe, because DC literally did exactly that in the comics when they rebooted the universe in 2011 with The New 52.
I was thinking the same thing. Honestly WB should’ve just did that, because with The Flash I can see how you can at least use the DCEU as sort of a pathway to set up the DCU. I’m guessing the reason they didn’t do that is A. They didn’t think of that, and B. If they did think of that there was probably something about Aquaman 2 where they needed the extra months either for reshoots or the VFX.
1. The Suicide Squad 2. Zack Snyders Justice League 3. Aquaman 4. Wonder Woman 5. Blue Beetle 6. The Flash 7. Shazam 8. Man of Steel 9. BVS DOJ Ultimate Edition 10. Birds of Prey 11. Aquaman and the Lost kingdom 12. Wonder Woman 1984 13. Black Adam 14. Shazam Fury of the Gods 15. Suicide Squad 16. Josstice League RIP DCEU. In James Gunn we trust, he will crush it!
I like: Michael Shannon's Zod Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman Pierce Brosnan's Doctor Fate Dwayne Johnson/The Rock's Black Adam Margot Robbie's Harley Quinn John Cena as Peacemaker Patrick Wilson's Ocean Master
Your list is on point with mine. I will say that Man of Steel is my favorite. I agree with you on liking Superman as a character after watching this film. It is the crown jewel of the DCEU.
1. Man Of Steel 2. Zack Snyder's Justice League 3. Wonder Woman 4. The Suicide Squad 5. Aquaman 6. Shazam 7. The Flash 8. Birds Of Prey 9. Blue Beetle 10. Black Adam 11. Aquaman And The Lost Kingdom 12. Shazam: Fury Of The Gods 13. Suicide Squad 14. Wonder Woman 1984 15. BvS: Dawn Of Justice 16. Josstice League
Top 5 1. Wonder woman 2. Shazam 3. The Suicide Squad 4. The Flash 5. Aquaman I forgot that some of the others existed like Black Adam, Blue Beetle and Shazam 2.
Great DCEU ranking and fan of your channel. These are my favorite DCEU films that I loved. Wonder Woman Zack Snyder's Justice League Aquaman Shazam Harley Quinn Birds of Prey The Suicide Squad Blue Beetle
1. The Suicide Squad (2021) 2. Wonder Woman 3. Man of Steel 4. Zack Snyder’s Justice League 5. Peacemaker 6. Birds of Prey 7. Shazam! 8. Aquaman 9. Black Adam 10. Blue Beetle 11. The Flash 12. Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom 13. Shazam! Fury of the Gods 14. Wonder Woman 1984 15. Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice 16. Suicide Squad (2016) 17. Justice League (2017)
Okay, for those who did enjoy the Flash and the DCEU, who could see the Flash being the real conclusion to the DCEU, instead of Aquaman 2? Personally, if I marathoned the DCEU, including Batman 89 and Batman Returns, I can see The Flash as the finale to this series of films. Anyone agree?
Yes! The Flash was actually supposed to be the final film, not Aquaman 2, but the films release dates got switched around. You can definitely say The Flash is the last DCEU film, because Aquaman 2 doesn't really contradict that. So despite Aquaman 2 being the last film, it doesn't mean it is the last film, in terms of story continuity.
@@peterlenham3180 so two more questions. Did you like the Flash and are you okay with that movie being the conclusion the Keaton Batman? I know there were alot more plans for that character, but all of it was scrapped.
The main in only reason I didn’t really like the flash is Ezra characterization. It just feels nothing like any version of flash. His mannerisms, THE WAY HE RUNS, his tone of voice. Not saying he is a bad actor but he just does not feel like a flash. It’s like casting will smith to play Batman
Snyder Cut, Man of Steel and Wonder Woman were my three favorites. Batman V. Superman, the R rated cut, vastly improved it and the Snyder Cut validated it. I see it with different eyes now.
I have found this journey to be so fascinating that I intend to write a very in-depth book on the history of the DCEU. not all of these films have been great, but I have loved quite a few of them, especially the stuff that Zack Snyder did. It really is a fascinating journey that deserves to be told from beginning to end, and I hope to get my book going soon, I just have to finish the mountains of research for it.
For me is: 1) Man of Steel 2) ZS Justice League 3) The Flash 4) Blue Beetle 5) Aquaman 6) Wonde Woman 7) Shazam The rest are Ok to bad for me even The Suicide Squad had a lot of humor I hated but the story is amazing.
I heard nothing but trash-comments about the Flash - didn't bother watching it. But after your review, I gave it a chance - you were 100% right! Thank you!
Words can’t describe the DCEU as a whole. You got Man of Steel and then you got Batman V Superman. You got jostice league and justice league. You got suicide squad and you got suicide squad. You got Wonder Woman and then you have Wonder Woman 1984. You get a good movie and then you get a abomination of epic proportions. Most bizzare and disjointed connected universe in history. Literally a example of fir future on how to not make a universe
My biggest let down has been the Wonder Woman movies. They need to do a present day movie. They just have not been interesting at all. They are near the bottom of the lists for me. Zack Snyder's Justice League and Flash were better than the Wonder Woman movies. This is a good list though.
Honestly I love the first Wonder Woman film so I can’t necessarily agree with you on that. But I’ll agree with you that WW84 was bad, and that IMO the second WW film should’ve been set in modern day.
For me, this is my DCEU ranking. I think my bottom five and top five are easy to pick for me. It’s the middle six that was the hardest to rank. Honestly, my top five can go either way. 16) Justice League (2017) 15) Suicide Squad (2016) 14) Wonder Woman 1984 13) Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice 12) Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom 11) Shazam: Fury of the Gods 10) Black Adam 9) Man of Steel 8) Zack Snyder’s Justice League 7) The Flash 6) Blue Beetle 5) Aquaman (2018) 4) The Suicide Squad (2021) 3) Wonder Woman 2) Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of one Harley Quinn) 1) Shazam
My final ranking: 1. Zack Snyder’s Justice League 2. Wonder Woman 3. The Suicide Squad 4. Man of Steel 5. Aquaman 6. Blue Beetle 7. Shazam 8. Shazam: Fury of the Gods 9. Birds of Prey 10. Batman v Superman 11. Black Adam 12. Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom 13. The Flash 14. Wonder Woman 1984 15. Josstice League 16. Suicide Squad
What you said about Man of steel is exactly how I felt about superman , I was always a Batman guy & even though I liked the Reeves Superman I was never a fan of the character until I saw Man of steel 👊
DCEU actually put out some good movies, I enjoyed alot of them. They just couldn’t figure out how to put a cohesive universe together. Its a shame it went out this sad.
I agree. At least in my opinion, it always felt that Zack Snyder’s films as well as the first Wonder Woman film were in one cinematic universe and everything else was in a separate one.
yeah Snyder has a decent little universe with the few films he directed. Its too bad we didnt get a Justice league 2 or Man of Steel 2. Oh well onto the DCU now.@@cooperwolfe5478
The premise of BVS was good. An existing, established Batman reacting to Superman’s arrival and there being conflict is a good premise, the problem is that it was way too bloated with everything else. If it was simplified with just that story, would have been so much better.
Nah, the whole idea of make bvs the second dceu movie was stupid and rushed. Bvs is suppose the be the end on the batman superman dynamic, years of rivalry accumulated into it. Instead, we got a movie about 2 people who aren't even sure if they need to take down each other. Bvs is the epitome of WB rushing the dceu
There was supposed to have been a solo Batman movie before BvS that was supposed to have explained why Batman in BvS is in such a dark place. I think there was also supposed to have been a MoS 2 before as well. That said BvS itself should have also been 2 movies. The BvS part as one movie and death of Superman as a second or part 2
1. Man of steel 2. Wonderwoman 3. Justice league (Snyder cut) 4. The suicide squad 5. Aquaman 6. Shazam 7. Aquaman 2 8. Black Adam 9. Shazam 2 10. Batman vs superman (UE) 11. Birds of prey 12. WW84 13. Suicide squad
For me The Suicide Squad is genuinely one of my favourite comic book films of all time, I love that film. I thoroughly enjoy Shazam and Man of Steel I like as an alternate spin on Superman, and there's some great casting in some of the other projects, that's about it as far as positives go for me when it comes to the DCEU. The direction and handling of characters in Batman V Superman really didn't click with me at all, and it was mostly downhill from there for me with a lot of the projects that followed. There's a couple I haven't seen and I don't feel much desire to see them, but I'm remaining optimistic about the future for DC.
I enjoyed most of the DCEU but I do feel the 3 Snyder movies work best as there own trilogy that stands alone. The rest of the DCEU I enjoy the movies for the most part despite some being better then others but the DCEU biggest issue to me was lack of direction the franchise never felt like it had a cohesive vision.
@Cody fun watch, tho I am a Marvel fan 55 to 60% I love dc and they have done best in their animated stuff. I hope the new universe is done well as it is not looking good at Marvel atm. Some interesting takes from you but that is my favorite parts of the list to see what likes are similar and the different takes we all have. Hope you and your family had a lovely Christmas
My ranking of the DCEU 17: Justice League 16: Sucide Squad 15: Wonder Woman 1984 Warning from this point on I really like every other project on the list 14: Shazam!: fury if the gods 13: Peacemaker 12: Aquaman and the lost kingdom 11: Black Adam 10: Birds of Prey and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn 9: Aquaman 8: Blue Beetle 7: Wonder Woman 6: Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice 5: Shazam! 4: Man of Steel 3: The Flash 2: The Sucide Squad 1: Zach Snyders Justice League
My ranking from my favorite to my least favorite is 1. Peacemaker Season 1 4.5/5 2. The Suicide Squad 4.5/5 3. Man of Steel 4/5 4. Zack Snyder's Justice League 4/5 5. The Flash 3.5/5 6. Shazam! 3.5/5 7. Wonder Woman 3.5/5 8. Aquaman 3.5/5 9. Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) 3.5/5 10. Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice 3/5 11. Blue Beetle 3/5 12. Shazam! Fury of the Gods 3/5 13. Suicide Squad (2016) 2.5/5 14. Justice League (2017) 2.5/5 15. Black Adam 2.5/5 16. Wonder Woman 1984 2/5 I still have to watch Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom.
You know it's weird. When these movies first started coming out. Man of Steel got such a horrid response, I didn't watch it. Same with Dawn of Justice. Then Wonder Woman came out and I wanted to go and see it because it was my favorite comic book character and the first time getting her own film; so I went despite the response of the previous films, went opening weekend, no reviews I watched at that point. To this day, my favorite film, not of this universe alone, of all time. Just the blending of the mythology, the tone, the characters, the score; everything was perfect. Went to go see it three more times in theaters. So I thought I should give Man of Steel and Dawn of Justice a watch because maybe I was wrong to prejudge. Pick up the blu-rays and watch them in consecutive nights. Never understood people's hatred for them. Even then, liked both yet Dawn of Justice still edged out Man of Steel for me, but both were very good. Jostice League comes out and was already defending it because the blowback just seemed like a reflex and overexaggeration. Didn't watch it after theaters for years because I heard the stories. Watched Aquaman and enjoyed it. But basically didn't really watch anything else in this universe as comic book films were getting long in the tooth anyway for me. Saw Wonder Woman 84 and I liked it, not as good as the first but liked it. Have not gone back to it and I'm sure there's things that break apart if I watch it again(it already kinda ruins the fact that she was inactive between WWI and Dawn of Justice), but just at that time, it was something that helped. Snyder Cut comes out and love it. Hits me hard and just rewatched it last night after nearly three years. It would be nice to see this universe continue in that direction and what could have been, but overall very satisfied with his trilogy and if that and Wonder Woman(2017) were all we had from it; that alone makes this universe worth it as all are some of my favorite films. So is it all worth it for the other 11 films just to have four amazing films. For some, probably not. But I'm grateful we have them as they are more meaningful to me than the entirety of the MCU and very few franchises come close. That's my two cents on the matter.
I see where you are coming from. I do think that when the DCEU was at its high points it produced great films, but it’s just its low points that have severely impacted its legacy.
Def appreciate your opinion.. prob cuz I also ranked my number 1’s the same w Man of Steel, Nightmare Elm St 3, evil dead 2013 & Friday 13th remake as best in franchises .. didn’t agree w Winter Solder for best MCU (mine was Infinity War) but can’t argue w it much either as it was a great movie.
Hey Cody! Had a lot of fun watching this, I did have a question for you though. You seemed to really enjoy the first aqua man movie which i did too. You also said the movie that ranked a step higher Batman v super man had a lot of flaws even with the best version to it. So I’m curious why you had it a step above aqua man. Is it just as simple as saying because it’s Batman and Superman in a movie? Would love to hear your thoughts on that!
If it helps you like the character/Batman v Superman more... Jesse Eisenberg Plays Lex Luthor's Son. The Father/traditional Luthor could have been introduced down the road. With the son being a new character I think it plays really well with the DCEU themes of Parent/Child destiney, loss, grief, anger, etc.
I saw you did a video on what storyline the next saw movie should be if you wrote it. Id actually would love to see a video of what storyline you would take with superman legacy movie coming out and pretty much how you would build the new dc universe with that as the starting point. Thanks for the content.
That’s a solid list. You always do amazing lists and reviews and don’t buckle under the pressure and say what u want and that’s always what I love about ur reviews. I don’t agree with all of the order, but it’s not my list and I think it’s really good. I would have bluebettle higher as it was really surprising and all round solid film. But I love the story and emotion that flash had but they had to much cgi and it was really bad so it kept pulling me out and what’s worse is that most could have been done in practical but they just cgi everything and it looks atrocious but I think it would only be a few down the list from where it is. Waiting for ur chappie review and wanted to know ur thoughts on tiger 2 and 3 (pan Indian films). Love ur reviews and I will always watch them. Keep up the good work
Very Solid order, I Will say I wanna love Man Of Steel HOWEVER, For someone that lost both his parents at a very Early Age! I just can not get right with how you would just listen and stand there and watch what is the equivalent of your Real Father as he Dies! NO way if I was in that spot would I just stand there and lose a Loved one! That’s the part that kills that movie (For Me) that is!
A few I love and can watch any time: 1. Wonder Woman 2. Shazam! 3. The Suicide Squad 4. Birds of Prey 5. Aquaman A few I enjoy watching despite their flaws: 6. Flash 7. Shazam! Fury of the Gods 8. Blue Beetle A few I can watch but my internal critic is very active: 9. Zach Snyder's Justice League 10. Wonder Woman 1984 11. Man of Steel 12. Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice I don't want to ever see these again: 12. Black Adam 13. Justice League 14. Suicide Squad
Affleck was the best batman for me. Most comic book accurate, best live action suit, most accurate build, looked the part of Bruce Wayne the most. I'm very disappointed he didn't get a solo film.
1: Justice League (Snyder) 2: Shazam! 3: Shazam!: Fury of the Gods 4: The Flash 5: Wonder Woman 6: Man of Steel 7: Aquaman 8: Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom 9: The Suicide Squad 10: Birds of Prey 11: Justice League (Whedon) 12: Blue Beetle 13: Wonder Woman 1984 14: Suicide Squad 15: Peacemaker 16: Black Adam 17: Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice
I always liked your opinions on movies because of your honesty. the thing I disagree about(the only thing) I personally feel that after nolan wrote man of steel & decided not to direct wb should’ve got rid of nolan team for the writing of bvs. I love zack movies (even sucker punch) but zack isn’t a strong writer (yet) or improviser. The more I watch bvs I think about how nolan would’ve improvised its weaknesses (the same way he did with the dark knight trilogy fight scenes) over how zack handled the weaknesses of the story( it was written with nolan in mind) also you’re 100% right besides the bad cgi the flash is a good movie. I was surprised by how much I enjoyed it great video cody & keep reviewing from the heart
Wonder Woman absolutely deserved that ranking. And the sequel deserved its ranking. 😂 The Josstice League was when I took a full step back from the DCEU. Like you said, it made no sense to have the director of the first two Avengers to direct JL. Completely different vibes.
I agree with you on the Wonder Woman films. Personally I love the first Wonder Woman film but I hate WW84. Honestly they should’ve had the 2nd Wonder Woman take place in modern day.
Watching your reviews makes my day Cody love your ranking Man Of Steel is the greatest comic book film ever of the DCEU keep up the great work my man 👍🏽
Off topic but here’s my opinion, I’m not saying everyone should like Superman but I believe that everybody should respect him because if it weren’t for Superman then we wouldn’t have superheroes in general…
Great ranking. Your top 5 is pretty decent. Cant really argue against it. Especially considering there some of the only DC films i like. 😅 Everything you said about Man of Steel i 100% agree.
1. Shazam! 2. The Suicide Squad 3. Zack Snyder's Justice League 4. Aquaman 5. Man of Steel 6. Wonder Woman 7. Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (Ultimate Edition) 8. Blue Beetle 9. Black Adam 10. Harley Quinn 11. Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom 12. The Flash 13. Shazam!: Fury of the Gods 14. Suicide Squad 15. Wonder Woman 1984 16. Justice League
If WB would’ve just taken their time on building their universe and letting Directors do their own stuff…They would be at their peak right now.! We should’ve had 2 Man of Steel movies, Wonder Woman, Batman, Flash and Aquaman prior to the first JL. Then keep building underground/street level Suicide Squad movies. I truly believe this would have shifted the MCU as they would’ve had competition to actually make their movies good. Not just rinse and repeat since 2019.
1. Shazam 2. Wonder Woman 3. Aquaman 4. The Suicide Squad 5. Zack Snyder's Justice League 6. Birds of Prey (and The Fantabulous Emancipation of one Harley Quinn) 6½. Peacekeeper TV Series 7. Blue Beetle 8. The Flash 9. Wonder Woman 1984 10. Man of Steel 11. Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom 12. Shazam: Fury of the Gods 13. Black Adam 14. Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice 15. *Joss-tice League* 16. Suicide Squad
Clicked faster than the decline of the DCEU
Amen 🙏🏽
Amen brother
The video isn’t gonna run away from you. I don’t understand these “I clicked so fast!!!” Comments
I wouldn't call a full decade "fast" tho lol
lmao true af
Despite all the dceu flaws this universe did give us some cool fight scenes, some good casting, but I't always left us with what if idea
Sums it all up.
Yeah some cool fights and a couple billion spent on nothing 🤣🤣
The 🐐 of ranking videos
Cody you are the fucking man thanks for always feeding your fans
This cinematic universe had so much potential and yet all of it got wasted because there were so many people who had completely different ideas and visions for how it should play out.

12. Shazam! Fury of the Gods-Even though it loses a lot of the charm of the first film by going bigger with the action and villains, it still provides enough emotion and humor to make for a relatively enjoyable, yet generic superhero movie
11. Black Adam-It’s certainly derivative of plenty of other comic book projects over the last fifteen years, but it delivers enough superficial entertainment for me to have a good enough time with this film
10. Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom-Even though this is still a piece of DCEU leftovers, I did enjoy this movie for its expansion on the lore of the first film, its variety of action, and especially the interactions between Momoa and Wilson
9. Birds of Prey and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn-I’m well aware that this movie doesn’t work for a lot of DC fans, but because of its style, characters, storytelling, and action sequences, this movie works pretty well for me
8. Blue Beetle-For me, this one was actually a pleasant surprise because of the focus on Jaime’s family, its embracing of latino culture, and that it’s a standalone story that wasn’t concerned with tying into a bunch of DC plot points and characters, making for a solid, entertaining film
7. Aquaman-By no means is this movie thought provoking or overly deep, but it definitely entertains me with its globe trotting adventure, sillier humor, action sequences, and Shakespearean storylines
6. Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (Ultimate Edition)-While I do acknowledge that this is a flawed film, I quite enjoy the Ultimate Edition for its ambitious themes, storytelling, and action, as well as having the introduction of Affleck’s Batman and the continuation of Cavill’s Superman
5. Shazam!-A funny, heartfelt addition to the franchise that’s able to be smaller scale because of Billy’s emotional journey, even if the villain doesn’t fully work and the tone is inconsistent
4. Wonder Woman-Even though this movie does fizzle out at the climax, it’s still a rock solid comic book film that has a lot to say about hope and mercy in a broken world, all with well done action and enjoyable fish out of water humor
3. The Suicide Squad-A great DC film that harnesses all of James Gunn’s strengths in his humor, crafting of great team dynamic, hyperviolence, and massive heart at the center of all of it, making for a movie I love every time I watch it
2. Man of Steel-A fantastic 21st century version of the Superman character that has great aesthetics and action from Snyder, a great villain in General Zod, and powerful themes of self discovery to pull it all together, which makes for one of my all time favorite comic book films
1. Zack Snyder’s Justice League-An amazing comic book film that has great character arcs, solid Snyder action, complex, but incredibly satisfying storytelling, a massive scale, and fantastic world building, which makes for a superhero epic that’s absolutely deserving of the Justice League title
You know what's another good thing about number 3 we got a kick ass tv show with a kick ass opening.
@@nickdorenkamp959DO YOU REALLY DO YOU REALLY WANNA TASTE IT
How does Shazam have an inconsistent tone?
just my list!
I'm not trying to downplay your opinion, but having Josstice Leage at 16 and ZSJL at 1 doesn't make a lot of sense to me.
R.I.P DCEU, you truly deserved better, here's my ranking
17. Justice League🖕
16. Suicide Squad
15. Wonder Woman 1984
I enjoy the rest
14. Shazam: Fury of the Gods

3:57 The DCEU is like if the MCU had jumped right to Avengers 1 after Iron Man 1.
Brother, i just want to say how much i enjoy your unbiased view on movies. I also enjoy how you never give to much away if its a movie i haven't seen. You videos are so much better than the trailers. Keep up the good work!!!
Agree.
Cody speaks my mind and how i feel about the DCEU esp Batman stuff
Thanks Cody for another thoughtful and honest video!
Here’s how I’d rank the DCEU films:
1. ‘The Suicide Squad’
2. ‘Wonder Woman’
3. ‘Shazam!’
4. ‘Zack Snyder’s Justice League’
5. ‘Blue Beetle’
6. ‘Man of Steel’
7. ‘Birds of Prey’

I hope James Gunn’s new DCU is a creative and financial success.
Same here. Those are top 3. Especially BVS ultimate edition
Agree with all of your points. The Flash was an excellent movie, and it should have been the last movie to setup the reboot. I concur with your rankings as well. Thanks for sharing!
"The Flush"
Cody I’m so glad you did this ranking. I’ve always had a weird relationship with Batman V Superman because although it’s still not on my Mount Rushmore of favorite DCEU movies, it’s oddly the DCEU film that I have the most nostalgia for because I was so excited to see it in the theaters because this was the first DCEU film to come out since they announced that the DCEU was going to exist so I’ve always looked at it more fondly in recent years. My personal ranking of the DCEU films is this:
1. Wonder Woman
2. The Suicide Squad
3. Zack Snyder’s Justice League
4. Man of Steel
5. Batman V Superman Dawn of Justice
6. Peacemaker
7. Blue Beetle
8. The Flash
9. Birds of Prey
10. Black Adam
11. Aquaman
12. Shazam!
13. Suicide Squad
14. Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom
15. Shazam: Fury of the Gods
16. Wonder Woman 1984
Black Adam was better than what I thought it would be
Black Adam is so underrated
1. The Suicide Squad
2. Zack Snyders Justice League
3. Aquaman
4. Wonder Woman
5. Blue Beetle
6. The Flash
7. Shazam
8. Man of Steel
9. BVS DOJ Ultimate Edition
10. Birds of Prey
11. Aquaman and the Lost kingdom
12. Wonder Woman 1984
13. Black Adam
14. Shazam Fury of the Gods

RIP DCEU. In James Gunn we trust, he will crush it!
Man of Steel also ranks as my 8th favorite movie of all time.
I like:
Michael Shannon's Zod
Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman
Pierce Brosnan's Doctor Fate
Dwayne Johnson/The Rock's Black Adam
Margot Robbie's Harley Quinn
John Cena as Peacemaker
Patrick Wilson's Ocean Master
Your list is on point with mine. I will say that Man of Steel is my favorite. I agree with you on liking Superman as a character after watching this film. It is the crown jewel of the DCEU.
1. Man Of Steel
2. Zack Snyder's Justice League

4. The Suicide Squad
5. Aquaman

You are the best, good job on the very hard work that you bring with your videos.
The flash actors performance, idk he was different but he seems like he has something going on behind the scenes
I loved the Snyderverse! The General Public's rejection of it, be damned. Keep up the great work Cody!
I liked the flash a lot too. Specially that Keaton Batman vs Kryponian scene at the end.

1. Wonder woman
2. Shazam
3. The Suicide Squad

Perfect ranking, great arguments and...I enjoyed this video!
@@Story2ScreenMovieReviewPodcast It was good, not great, but not bad. I would have liked Keaton to stay, but at least we saw him in The Flash.
I have the same top 3! Man of Steel and Wonder Woman are for sure my favorite 😊
Those two are on my Mount Rushmore of DCEU films alongside The Suicide Squad and Zack Snyder’s Justice League
Snyder Cut, Man of Steel and Wonder Woman were my three favorites. Batman V. Superman, the R rated cut, vastly improved it and the Snyder Cut validated it. I see it with different eyes now.
Awesome ranking! This is surreal.
Great video as always! I am assuming that your ranking of BvS was for the UC. I'd be curious where the TC would rank among the bottom tier for you.
For me is:
1) Man of Steel
2) ZS Justice League
3) The Flash
4) Blue Beetle
5) Aquaman
6) Wonde Woman
7) Shazam
The rest are Ok to bad for me even The Suicide Squad had a lot of humor I hated but the story is amazing.
Thank you so much for putting Man of Steel first! One of my favorite films and so vastly underrated.
16) Justice League (2017)
15) Suicide Squad (2016)
14) Wonder Woman 1984
13) Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice
12) Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom
11) Shazam: Fury of the Gods
10) Black Adam
9) Man of Steel

5) Aquaman (2018)
4) The Suicide Squad (2021)
3) Wonder Woman
2) Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of one Harley Quinn)
1) Shazam
I absolutely loved Shazam Fury of the gods
My final ranking:
1. Zack Snyder’s Justice League

Loving the Man of Steel praise

Yeah I did
Man of Steel is my fave. It sucks they’re not continuing with Cavill. He’s a great Superman and really loved the character.
22:25 ok that was funny 😂
I absolutely LOVE Man of Steel, but it is so crazy that the first movie in the DCEU ended up being the pinnacle of the entire run. RIP
That thumbnail. A proper farewell. 😢
Good list. I agree with most. I mostly enjoyed Man Of Steel & it is my number one on this list. But Superman 2 is still the best Superman movie imo.
Was waitin for someone to do this 🍿
That's the perfect thumbnail
Angry Joe would be proud of you Cody Leach. Great DCEU ranking btw👍

I still have to watch Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom.
I Cody totally agree with you on Man of Steel . Not a good superhero movie, but a great one .
I remember 2013 like it was yesterday. Man of Steel came out around the time my cousin Dominic got married.
My favorite is The Suicide Squad by James Gunn.
Can’t really argue with this ranking.
Keep up the good work
I want more Matt Reeves 😫
The new Batman is coming in 2025. Yes, I'm looking forward to it, too. 😁
2025 is when the new film will come.
You are not alone. Reeves is one of the best directors working today.
48:57 agreed😂 I was like"then explain it"
The crazy thing about this is all Warner brothers had to do was verbatim recreate the DCA U in live action and it would have been more successful
A few I love and can watch any time:
1. Wonder Woman
2. Shazam!
3. The Suicide Squad
4. Birds of Prey
5. Aquaman
A few I enjoy watching despite their flaws:
6. Flash
7. Shazam! Fury of the Gods
8. Blue Beetle
A few I can watch but my internal critic is very active:
9. Zach Snyder's Justice League
10. Wonder Woman 1984
11. Man of Steel
12. Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice
I don't want to ever see these again:
12. Black Adam
13. Justice League
14. Suicide Squad
Affleck was the best batman for me. Most comic book accurate, best live action suit, most accurate build, looked the part of Bruce Wayne the most. I'm very disappointed he didn't get a solo film.

2: Shazam!
3: Shazam!: Fury of the Gods
4: The Flash
5: Wonder Woman
6: Man of Steel

8: Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom
9: The Suicide Squad
10: Birds of Prey
11: Justice League (Whedon)
12: Blue Beetle
13: Wonder Woman 1984
14: Suicide Squad
15: Peacemaker
16: Black Adam
17: Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice
If you were forced to. Where would you rank Peacemaker. (If you have seen it).
Watching your reviews makes my day Cody love your ranking Man Of Steel is the greatest comic book film ever of the DCEU keep up the great work my man 👍🏽
Man of Steel was the only time I thought they were able to get the exciting feel like MCU did with Iron Man 1, It was really good!
One of the best CBM of all time imo.
Bro definitely get with Durban for a State of the DCEU. I miss those videos
Off topic but here’s my opinion, I’m not saying everyone should like Superman but I believe that everybody should respect him because if it weren’t for Superman then we wouldn’t have superheroes in general…
If peacemaker was on the list where would you estimate it’s place on the list
Great ranking. Your top 5 is pretty decent. Cant really argue against it. Especially considering there some of the only DC films i like. 😅
Everything you said about Man of Steel i 100% agree.

Yes 🙌
Yes, but like a lot of shows it will come out later than expected because of last years strike
