My 2017 Sentra SV had slipping gear issues (no check engine light though) around 100 kmh/65mph when under load and this seems to have fixed it completely. The engine runs remarkebly smoother and the gas mileage improved too. Will report back in some weeks when the next cold snap hits here in West Canada!

There is a technical service bulletin on this issue. You’re supposed to replace the pcv valve, clean throttle body and reprogram the ECM. Hope this helps

This code is preventing me from passing smog, I got a new sensor at Autozone, installed it and it just failed smog again a second time. Might have to take my Sentra in to the dealer for a diagnostic

Nope straight up what I did and at end u need to reset the ecm with scan tool that’s about it. Before resetting start the car let it run for good 5 minutes it might start up crappy but after that sensor will be dry and become normal temp then reset it alll set to go!!
I have a Nissan 2008 Sentra that was giving the code: P0420 and absolutely wouldn't even go through Emissions Testing because of the "Check Engine" light. I used this video to clear up that problem, but I did have to perform a Drive Cycle (30 miles city and highway) afterword before it would pass Emissions. It did so with flying colors though. Tnx RB!

@@RBTheMechanic I brought it to a mechanic and they said I may have to bring it to Nissan to reprogram. It went off when they test drove it but when I picked it up to leave it was back on.
I checked everything, installed new MAF sensor, new air filter, air snorkel is tight and secure, harness connector seems ok, removed the negative lead cable from the battery for about 20 minutes, but the P0101 error code is still showing up on the scanner even after driving around town. Maybe I need to add die electric grease on the connector.. 🤔 There is NO check engine light on the dashboard which seems to be a band aid fix. One thing I noticed is there is this hose next to the air box, it sits out in the open. I checked where to connect it to. Seems like just a vent hose for something but not really sure. Any idea what that hose is?
Ok u need scan tool to reset it also if u got this sensor from Autozone or peoeboys ur doomed to have this code again buy original I have changed before for customers that did it then delve and I changed again original well try resetting with scan tool first

If I'm going to guess, the most expensive ones from Napa are Echlin or Delphi (probe only) are the OEM? Awesome auto repair channel by the way! Helps me save cash for simple tasks like this.

@@RBTheMechanic hmmm yeah this morning there was a terrible grinding noise in my brakes. So I took it to the dealership they checked it out said the rear drum brakes were dirty to clean them they wanted 115$ I declined and went on my way. Noise stopped everything was good. I took a 2 hour break then turned my car on to head towards work. When the traction light turns on and won't turn off that accompany the jerking rpms fluctuating. Took it back to the mechanic that cleared the P0101 code the first time and he said the ABS sensor was on something about losing signal and the mass air flow sensor code was still showing. So he recommended to change out the mass air flow sensor because he thinks thats what caused it. Mind you this is the first time this has ever happened

There should be a brake fluid reserver on the driver side under hood look in that arear close to fire wall it will have black cap about 2 inches wide and it will say DOT3 brake fluid
Thanks for the video! Still having problems. I’ve had MAF replaced, light came back on. RPMs go up when accelerating and there is a noise that occurs when hitting about 3000 RPMs. Throttle body was cleaned as well. Acceleration is def different. Firestone recently did service on it reset code and it came back (p0101).
I just replaced the sensor and the engine light went off for a week. Then it came back on. It’s an auto zone part so where else can I buy one? Went to the denso site, they don’t make a MAF sensor for this vehicle

I have same code on my 2014 Sentra. Tune up was just done then about week later this code came up. My car was getting 38mpg b4 tune up. After tune up I was getting 28mpg filled up n slowly got better 31 to 35mpg ....I changed air filter n senser twice but my car still says mas flow sensor every few days. N idle at a light my room drops so low car almost stalls. I lift of brake n it's fine again. But why does my check engine light keep coming on for my sensor..... what else could it be..... possible something mechanic did when my tune up was done?

I replaced the sensor. I also cleaned the new sensor before installing it. It turns on on the second crank. I turned it off and turned it on and again on the second crank it turned on. Tried this two more times and same thing happened. Should I have not sprayed the new sensor before installing it? Also, I tried resetting check engine light by unplugging the negative terminal and the light came back on after about 5 seconds. I'm worried lol What should I do?
Ok this could be short in circuit or ur sensors is worth than the old one put the old one back and reset see if it dose the same thing the reason I say this is light comes on immediately it detects the circuit try it with old one if the situation changes then go get another new sensor if ur buying from autozone they most-likely are bad!!!

Mostly it will fix the problem chances are 50/50 how ever I did few and no one came back with the code again but one or 2 did so it’s worth the try if it don’t work u can easily replace it

U can get reading from the sensor with scan tool but why go through all the trouble clean it first try replace second and Nissans do have issue with these last of all computer needs update
I cleaned the maf the car performed better weeks later it started idling and when I come to a stop it would tremble a little would you recommend replacing the maf if I feel the car idling every time I drive or would it be the rotors that are doing the shaking
Sorry I didn’t understand you mixed up idle issue with brakes rotors would make the car shake/vibrate when braking at like 40mpj or above unless rotors are really bad then u would fee pulsation in brake peddle also ... if you didn’t get the p0101 code I wouldn’t touch the MAF sensor
@@RBTheMechanic problem was i took it to the dealership and it had no check engine light but they told me they scanned it and p0101 came up and all they did was clean the throttle body and charged me 300$ weeks later I saw you're video and I cleaned the maf because a different mechanic not from the dealership pointed at the sensor so I cleaned it but I still feel the shaking only when I come to a stop at a red light and that's why I'm asking if it's better to just replace the maf and put a new one. Sorry for the confusion I'm just trying to figure out the issue myself it seems like the dealership just wants my money because all they tell me is other stuff like my rotors were bad and at 55 mph they make the shaky noise
@@erikavila1726 you can replace it the part is like $80 don’t buy the cheaper one also before replacing it next time it shakes take a look at the RPM needle notice how much rpm it is and see if needle is bouncing up and down if it is then slightly presse the gas peddle tiny bit see if u can stabilize the RPM and it should be smooth... from what I understand it might be throttle body issue might need more of cleaning
@@RBTheMechanic as we speak I'm in the drive thru and I'm pressing on the brake I feel the car sort of shaky but the rpm needle dont move it only moves when I twist the steering wheel...i already had the throttle body replaced a while back and the transmission right after...I replace the air filter same time I cleaned the maf i dont know bro this shaking is just irritating me or is it just normal because like i said the dealership ain't a big help.
@@erikavila1726 please make a video let me see what ur seeing and feeling. The brakes wount make the car shake if ur car is idling in drive through it has to be in high speed motions I think u can eliminate the issue of braking
Autozone scanner said p0101 but nothing about mass airflow . It says camshaft position sensor. Can anyone help? BTW my sentra is 2016 not sure if that matters
My 2011 Sentra has the same code P0101 and hesitates when I push the gas. It can be a bit scary. I replaced the MAF sensor back in July. I got the part from Amazon for only $20. I guess I got what I paid for.
True replace it with better one let me n ow how it goes I had car one time I did some work took out the filter housing dust got on the sensor it was scary and hard to figure out what happned eventully we cleans it and it was like brand new

I have done this several times as well as replacing the sensor itself but still no luck. I have also cleaned throttle body recently and I can feel a huge difference in performance. However, I still run into the same code after deleting them and I have had the traction control light on before along with the check engine. The car has stalled on me several of times at red lights. Any other thoughts on what this problem maybe? Thanks
Question: Could this sensor cause a jump in rpm as you accelerate from 0 to like 30 mph? Mine does this quick jump from like 1500 to 2000 rpm, then back to 1500. After that drives like normal. I have a slightly bouncy idle too, but no code or engine light.

It's this weird blip where the rpm sort of hops up, almost like it's going into overdrive but at this lower speed for a second, then it's done. One and done, but you can imagine, in town where there are a lot of lights and stop signs, it can happen several times on a drive. Thanks for your quick response. Mike

I replaced the MAF sensor and air filter it fixed the accelation but when i first start it everyday when i go to work it nearly stalls and then turns back on again and the check engine light came back on. :( anything else you think i should do? i was thinking maybe right where the air comes in at the bottom of the air hose cleaning it out a bit i saw theres a leaf in there on my car. @@RBTheMechanic Hey back, So I cleaned the air intake where the leaf was and it still nearly stalls and starts back up. Note this only happens only when I start it for the day. So I replaced the air filter and MAF sensor. Anything else I should look at that could cause it to nearly stall? I havent gotten a check engine light yet.

Yeah prices are up .. but clean the sensor first and install it back and reset the light after that if light dosent come on ur good. Other wise replace the part with brand new one not refurbished… and even after that if light come on then it need to be reprogrammed that should be ur last option
@@RBTheMechanic just purchased the new one not after market according to them a hitachi is going to get the job done just gotta await 3 days for a miracle if not then im go get ripped off at the dealership. Will try update if this is even the issue with the car. I hear it would be a couple other possibilities.

U can disconnect the battery for few minutes but I would recommend that you invest in small $80 scan tool good to have u never know when u need to scan the car always worth it and can save money don’t the road
you will mess up the memory on the computer it will reset the light but your rpm might be low and car might stall so its better to go purchase cheap one good investment anyways
Nooo noooo noooo alll these new Toyota’s with electrical throttle body u cannot disconnect the battery u will loose the memory and it will stall due to low rpm till it rebuilds memory which will take couple of drive cycles
That’s what the dealer told me today but you also need to change or make sure PCV valve is working properly, which in my case it wasn’t, so I changed it. Also, you need to clean the throttle body make sure the flaps don’t get stuck. And sure, it may need ecm reprogrammed but it is way too expensive. Maybe the engine can learn on its own after a while?
My thing is when I turn the screws to take the sensor off the screws just keep spinning the f****** nut on the bottom doesn't stay still and it spins as you turn it and there's no way to stop the nut from spinning FML
It migh have stripped out of the housing well this is tough one try to see if u can hold it with needle noise have to work some magic here are you tryin to clean it or replace it? Because u can just remove the whole housing and sort it from inside

Well if u not getting crank that’s prolly starter u need to figure that out. And stall could be related to disconnecting the battery it looses memory and ur idle drops ... how did this happen did it stall and then it never cranked? Also scan the car for codes

Before you take off the sensor disconnect the negative terminal of the battery and let the sensor completely dry before you put it back in.
Luis Silva you can disconnect the battery but the problem is u will loose throttle memory and it will stall

U have to drive the car for at least nice miles before it’s ready for inspection and yes it will take time to come back on if the issue occurs

Try rock auto or local part store if it keeps poping the light then it might need software update

I have same code on my 2014 Sentra. Tune up was just done then about week later this code came up. My car was getting 38mpg b4 tune up. After tune up I was getting 28mpg filled up n slowly got better 31 to 35mpg ....I changed air filter n senser twice but my car still says mas flow sensor every few days. N idle at a light my room drops so low car almost stalls. I lift of brake n it's fine again. But why does my check engine light keep coming on for my sensor..... what else could it be..... possible something mechanic did when my tune up was done?
This has nothing to do with tune up but clean it and reset it if light come back for same code then replace it

I replaced the sensor. I also cleaned the new sensor before installing it. It turns on on the second crank. I turned it off and turned it on and again on the second crank it turned on. Tried this two more times and same thing happened. Should I have not sprayed the new sensor before installing it?
Also, I tried resetting check engine light by unplugging the negative terminal and the light came back on after about 5 seconds.

Ok this could be short in circuit or ur sensors is worth than the old one put the old one back and reset see if it dose the same thing the reason I say this is light comes on immediately it detects the circuit try it with old one if the situation changes then go get another new sensor if ur buying from autozone they most-likely are bad!!!

Mostly it will fix the problem chances are 50/50 how ever I did few and no one came back with the code again but one or 2 did so it’s worth the try if it don’t work u can easily replace it

U can get reading from the sensor with scan tool but why go through all the trouble clean it first try replace second and Nissans do have issue with these last of all computer needs update
I cleaned the maf the car performed better weeks later it started idling and when I come to a stop it would tremble a little would you recommend replacing the maf if I feel the car idling every time I drive or would it be the rotors that are doing the shaking
Sorry I didn’t understand you mixed up idle issue with brakes rotors would make the car shake/vibrate when braking at like 40mpj or above unless rotors are really bad then u would fee pulsation in brake peddle also ... if you didn’t get the p0101 code I wouldn’t touch the MAF sensor
@@RBTheMechanic problem was i took it to the dealership and it had no check engine light but they told me they scanned it and p0101 came up and all they did was clean the throttle body and charged me 300$ weeks later I saw you're video and I cleaned the maf because a different mechanic not from the dealership pointed at the sensor so I cleaned it but I still feel the shaking only when I come to a stop at a red light and that's why I'm asking if it's better to just replace the maf and put a new one. Sorry for the confusion I'm just trying to figure out the issue myself it seems like the dealership just wants my money because all they tell me is other stuff like my rotors were bad and at 55 mph they make the shaky noise
@@erikavila1726 you can replace it the part is like $80 don’t buy the cheaper one also before replacing it next time it shakes take a look at the RPM needle notice how much rpm it is and see if needle is bouncing up and down if it is then slightly presse the gas peddle tiny bit see if u can stabilize the RPM and it should be smooth... from what I understand it might be throttle body issue might need more of cleaning
@@RBTheMechanic as we speak I'm in the drive thru and I'm pressing on the brake I feel the car sort of shaky but the rpm needle dont move it only moves when I twist the steering wheel...i already had the throttle body replaced a while back and the transmission right after...I replace the air filter same time I cleaned the maf i dont know bro this shaking is just irritating me or is it just normal because like i said the dealership ain't a big help.
@@erikavila1726 please make a video let me see what ur seeing and feeling. The brakes wount make the car shake if ur car is idling in drive through it has to be in high speed motions I think u can eliminate the issue of braking
Autozone scanner said p0101 but nothing about mass airflow . It says camshaft position sensor. Can anyone help? BTW my sentra is 2016 not sure if that matters

My 2011 Sentra has the same code P0101 and hesitates when I push the gas. It can be a bit scary. I replaced the MAF sensor back in July. I got the part from Amazon for only $20. I guess I got what I paid for.
True replace it with better one let me n ow how it goes I had car one time I did some work took out the filter housing dust got on the sensor it was scary and hard to figure out what happned eventully we cleans it and it was like brand new

I have done this several times as well as replacing the sensor itself but still no luck. I have also cleaned throttle body recently and I can feel a huge difference in performance. However, I still run into the same code after deleting them and I have had the traction control light on before along with the check engine. The car has stalled on me several of times at red lights. Any other thoughts on what this problem maybe? Thanks

Question: Could this sensor cause a jump in rpm as you accelerate from 0 to like 30 mph? Mine does this quick jump from like 1500 to 2000 rpm, then back to 1500. After that drives like normal. I have a slightly bouncy idle too, but no code or engine light.
It can but it’s rare usully somthing like that is related to throttle what car u have year make and model

It's this weird blip where the rpm sort of hops up, almost like it's going into overdrive but at this lower speed for a second, then it's done. One and done, but you can imagine, in town where there are a lot of lights and stop signs, it can happen several times on a drive. Thanks for your quick response. Mike

I replaced the MAF sensor and air filter it fixed the accelation but when i first start it everyday when i go to work it nearly stalls and then turns back on again and the check engine light came back on. :( anything else you think i should do? i was thinking maybe right where the air comes in at the bottom of the air hose cleaning it out a bit i saw theres a leaf in there on my car. FYI i bought the sensor on amazon for $69. Hope to see your reply!

@@RBTheMechanic Hey back, So I cleaned the air intake where the leaf was and it still nearly stalls and starts back up. Note this only happens only when I start it for the day. So I replaced the air filter and MAF sensor. Anything else I should look at that could cause it to nearly stall? I havent gotten a check engine light yet.

I know im 2 years in but the dealership trying to charge me 700 bucks for a original part and the reprogramming . Reprogramming ? You said nothing about that. What part brand name can I use for this ? Can it be aftermarket ? I need some assistance here we all going broker by the day and im not getting paid more yet the prices going up ..
Yeah prices are up .. but clean the sensor first and install it back and reset the light after that if light dosent come on ur good. Other wise replace the part with brand new one not refurbished… and even after that if light come on then it need to be reprogrammed that should be ur last option
@@RBTheMechanic just purchased the new one not after market according to them a hitachi is going to get the job done just gotta await 3 days for a miracle if not then im go get ripped off at the dealership. Will try update if this is even the issue with the car. I hear it would be a couple other possibilities.

U can disconnect the battery for few minutes but I would recommend that you invest in small $80 scan tool good to have u never know when u need to scan the car always worth it and can save money don’t the road

you will mess up the memory on the computer it will reset the light but your rpm might be low and car might stall so its better to go purchase cheap one good investment anyways

Nooo noooo noooo alll these new Toyota’s with electrical throttle body u cannot disconnect the battery u will loose the memory and it will stall due to low rpm till it rebuilds memory which will take couple of drive cycles

That’s what the dealer told me today but you also need to change or make sure PCV valve is working properly, which in my case it wasn’t, so I changed it.
Also, you need to clean the throttle body make sure the flaps don’t get stuck.
And sure, it may need ecm reprogrammed but it is way too expensive. Maybe the engine can learn on its own after a while?

My thing is when I turn the screws to take the sensor off the screws just keep spinning the f****** nut on the bottom doesn't stay still and it spins as you turn it and there's no way to stop the nut from spinning FML
It migh have stripped out of the housing well this is tough one try to see if u can hold it with needle noise have to work some magic here are you tryin to clean it or replace it? Because u can just remove the whole housing and sort it from inside

Well if u not getting crank that’s prolly starter u need to figure that out. And stall could be related to disconnecting the battery it looses memory and ur idle drops ... how did this happen did it stall and then it never cranked? Also scan the car for codes
