I met and hung out with her on numerous occasions when she use to hang out with my boyfriends band...General Kane. She was a lot of fun and would sing her a$$ off!! This is before she got a record deal. We all knew she was going to make it because her voice was a force to be reckoned with!! My heart broke when I heard of her passing. Rest in peace Ms. Vesta Williams!!

Thank you so much for posting this. Vesta was my favorite female artist growing up from about the mid 80's till about 93' or so, then it got really crowded.
She was definitely one the greats during that time, but with Whitney, Anita, Sade, Miki, Stephanie, Angela (Winbush,) etc., it’s hard for me to call a favorite. We had so much talent back then. I can’t even name one vocalist today that can stand with those ladies. 🤦🏽♀️

Not until this moment did I ever realize how much she sounded like Chaka. She was truly a hell of a singer. I love the orchestration of certain songs ESPECIALLY 'Tell Me' and one other where she's driving a winding hwy in a Corvette. I know she's gigging in heaven! INSHALLAH
