Great news! If you make a purchase from any link above, my channel earns a small affiliate commission from the site.
I remember when I was a kid thinking that someday I would like to live in a million-dollar mansion, nowadays a million bucks won't even buy you a one-bedroom apartment.
It seems to be getting to that point, in New York at least.
...But it COULD buy you a building to put apartments into!😂
Fill them with hopes and dreams, that's enough for them to feel content instead of actually pursing their goal
@@victorvonvic9816 : So what exactly, are you trying to say with this comment, Victor? Is this your reasoning why people should end up on the street WITHOUT, this BASIC, of life? Housing should be a RIGHT, on the same level as food, water and air. Same as good, quality, education and good, quality, health care. It should NOT, be a POLITICAL, issue.
Why did you continue to preach after not fully understanding my comment. what I was referring to was the appeal of owning a mansion or anything super lux and rich as a kid. even people in their 20s have that feeling but when reality hits, the work to get such things turns them off.@@ivanj.conway9919
My family lived in the neighborhood in the early 60's. My uncle Joe, who worked cleaning offices at night was able to support his wife, a stay at home mom and his four kids with one salary. They had a railroad apartment on Driggs Ave for forty dollars a month, fourth floor walk up. It was, might still be, a very Polish neighborhood, we are Polish. It use to be a poor working class place, no more, time marches on.
FOURTH FLOOR WALK UP?!?!?! I can't!
That apartment still exists! It was updated in 1982 and now costs $4450/mth. Total steal.
That's funny, but true@@paulallen8495
Fourth floor wasn't the biggest problem. Like most very old apartments in Brooklyn, the bath tub was in the kitchen. @@CC-si3cr
I was on Greenpoint in August 2020 and even though there are still couple Polish stores, friends who live in New York City told us that it no longer is a Polish neighborhood it was even in early 2000s. It can be compared to Jackowo neighborhood in Chicago although Greenpoint is still more Polish than Chicago's equivalent. Btw. that Biedronka store on Greenpoint is no longer Polish, it's run by Indians nowadays
The small red car is a Mini and was made by Rover, a UK car maker.
and cash never ever wants to travel to the united kingdom -> "it's a _french_ car..." ;)
He couldn't afford to rent, but raised the finance to redevelop an old, uninhabitable building. Okay.
Exactly 😂... Like how did he do that??
I just don’t try to make that city make any sense.
Right?!!!
He couldn’t afford to rent so he built an unaffordable apartment building … allrighty then.
It said he couldn’t, not that he couldn’t afford to rent.
I love watching you, Cash! You don't just cover all kinds of real estate, you cover New York and its myriad angles and areas. You have created the perfect niche...never boring or predictable, like the Big Apple itself.
I am always so surprised more ppl don't watch or know about Cash Jordan. This really is a great way to view real estate and neighborhoods in NY.
I'm glad that he kept the outside looking old and rustic. I love the old architecture. Today's architecture is just boring.
Maybe the dept he was trying to get permitted through required it. They may have wanted to keep the same theme “historic” so make the new place look old.
He said it was a really old building, but then we took it down and built a new one. I live 3 train stops away, it's literally just brick. 8:24
@@jaiquanfayson1099 well, at least he made the new building look exactly like the old one. That's the next best thing.
He had to, it's a historically listed building. Cash mentioned it in the previous vlog upload.
@@Robashhh It was also noted in this video, that the requirements were the same type & size of windows & the type of bricks, so it would blend with the rest of the old buildings & their construction. so not a lot of creativity by the developer on the outside, but total credit for the awesome interiors. And that parking! How many get that with their apts in NYC. I actually think the prices are a bit on the bargain side, but I don't know neighborhoods or any other factors in NYC that might bring prices down.
Hi New Yorker, it hurts me that you think a rover (mini) comes from France. It is of course a typical English car.
An icon!
I wouldn't feel safe in that PH if the entire building has access to the roof, anybody could just walk right in if the doors were open.
Common sense overload!😮
@@frankpettinato2324 ?
Agree. For $3.5 million that needs to be a private rooftop for the PH only.
@@martiwaterman1437yeah right not in nyc, if that was private you could tack on an extra few hundred k
@@martiwaterman1437 THIS.
Fab energy, Cash! Rovers are from Great Britain. Range Rovers. Great camera work as usual. Great craftsmanship by this builder.
Creepy figurines. . .standard crystal. . .alligator chomping on a rock.
You crack me up...hahaha! 👋😄👍
Liked the dog wallpaper🐕
Very nice, but if I had the money, lived in NYC and in the position to be able to build apartments, I'd strive to keep them as affordable as possible to help with the housing crisis.
They're oblivious
Would you really though?
Prices of our products and services are rising right now. If all your bills are covered already, would you mind taking a pay cut because it's hard right now for people to pay for things. 🙏🏻🤷♂️
you'll make no profit and basically build those apartments for free but at least you have a good heart
@@catejedarbut he basically built condos for prices to sell at $3 million one $2.5 million
Thank you for having a conscience! Most landlords don't.
8:56 that tile pattern is called herringbone.
It would be great if at some point youd call a crappy apartment out. Everything is "duuude wow! Dude!"
I've seen him do that several times. Not cap on the whole place but point out dumb features etc
I save all your videos to the end of the week then I enjoy watching all they very entertaining thank you so much for sharing
The mini is a classic beautiful British car.
How could they not know that is a Mini!🤷♀️
I really love the work you are doing for the city, its something that I didn't know much about but I'm learning to love this city. Its kind of insane but I think about what it would take to come here and I dream about it. Its such a great part about our country!
2:35 It's not a French car, it's a classic Mini built by British car manufacturer Rover Group (Also the makers of Land Rovers and Range Rovers) in the late 1960's, way before BMW owned the Mini brand. Also to note it's an import because it is right hand drive.
I really loved this video! Thank you!! I appreciated the different filming style, very pleasant to watch ❤
These homes are gorgeous!!! If I needed a place in NY I would so rent these stunning, spacious super functional well designed homes. Brilliant and affordabl❤🎉❤
Parking is horrible the streets are narrow I work on the G line and if you like congested areas feel free but you can't say I didn't warn you if you like trash all over the streets at night feel free,
If I'm paying $1.5 million for a townhouse or condo I'm gonna need a extra room that has a door that can be used as a guest bedroom just in case I have guests in from out of town that need to stay overnight
Just add a door to the office area! It has its own 1/2 bath. There is always the couch!
He did a fantastic job
What a beautiful place! Good job!
I love the way he says the prices. 1125? Done deal!
Oh, you didn’t mean 11 hundred …
Lol.
It looks like a person could live there and have nearly all their immediate needs taken care of just by walking. And safely.
Perfect idea! Build your own vision! Love it!!!
Awesome job cash see you on Sunday enjoy your days off
Very nice...you get the best! Quality with great features. Well thought out!
The little car is a mini minor - it’s English. That model was produced by the Rover group (1986-2000). Heaps of them here in NZ. Fisher and Paykel - a NZ brand, Paykel is pronounced ‘piekel’ as in pie. Just thought you might want to know😉
Hi Cash wow this guy is very smart to build his own apartment in NYC. This is a great neighborhood in NYC. Stay well and safe 👍🍀
Wow very nice. Perfect for you and your family. I think this one is for you. Great neighborhood. See ya
"Rover, it's a French car" lol
I use to do a lot of photo shoot out of a studio on West St. I love that neighborhood. It has changed so much.
Those prices are disgusting. but hey he'll get some good tax breaks off having an empty building.
Omg, I'm in love with the 1-bedroom!
I love how he went along with your video, seems like a fun guy
I have absolutely enjoyed the last several posts Cash. It’s truly scary and scandalous to even consider living in NYC unless you’re a millionaire 😢 I’d love to live there but never a possibility for me. Great post again this morning Cash, looking forward to your next trip 🤗p.s. $3.5 million for the penthouse is a bit high to me only bc you’ve shown us some beautiful homes for a little less. Thanks again!
yea it's pretty insane. stockholm is suuuuper expensive too and you gotta wait maybe even a whole decade to find an affordable apartment. i live outside the city with a nice forest view
Nyc is a dump
@@JJ-mh3hb I’d have to say not all of it…
Love the apartments, but the taps on the bathroom sinks would drive me nuts. Would have gotten a modern tap mixing the hot&cold
Great apartments!!
Super fun transitions this episode, I love it ❤
That is awesome. I was born and raised in Williamsburg and Greenpoint was where I went to church and shopped. Pretty cool!
Cash - so there's three bathrooms.
Owner - no there's two full bathrooms and a half bath.
Cash - oh ok I was rounding up.
😄
Ya gotta go back when it's done and shops are open be interested to see how it looks. great video
Not sure how I feel about the wall paper in the bathroom. It's like you're in the center of the Opera House, and all eyes are on you. LOL 🤣😆
Dude ! New Yorkers ARE friendly !!! We love your videos. Last visit to NY. Waited in line - a long time to get to top of Empire State Bldg. Stepped out to catch a flight. Attendant saw us - took us to elevator ! Way to go NY !
2.5 million and you don't even get a window in the office.
When you’re working, you’re not supposed to be distracted by beautiful views. No windows in offices are almost a requirement for high productivity.
@RealConstructor Seems demoralizing to me, and lack of sunlight is not going to make you more productive.
Rover is absolutely not French… it’s British
as a brit i feel immense dissapointment not everything is fking french............but anyway this thick american doesn't know shit if he thinks rover was french
Red Rover, Red Rover tell Frenchie to move over!
The wall.paper in the half bath - excellent and funny 😅
Perfect for an exhibitionist!
@@amandagreen4332You have a problem with dogs looking at you?
That's my hood. I love it here.
Familiar with the area...interesting..nice set up...great neighborhood expensive af tho🙄but I like it👏🏽😉
Love it 👏 👏 👏
I love this!!!!
the average price is 1.5m for basically an apt - that's where the mkt is - props to the dev for having wherewithal and money to push this through - and the patience but do remember this is not for 99% of the common people but driven by finance and capitalism - that is fine and how things work but not going to address the multiple schisms and crisis that is nyc. another question is why is there a demand for this type of housing and the reason is convenience and economics - people could live elsewhere on a palatial estate for the same dosh but people are tied to the high salaries in nyc and somehow some of them manage to make it work - it is the center of world finance. alternative investors/developers will look for large warehouse type buildings (like in redhook) and just do the bar minimum and let the clients finish - it lowers costs and it is money that matters plus it speeds up transactions - clients want affordability - they can do without staging. when you buy one of these units you get stuck with a mansion tax and a lot of building fees and politics - the imbroglio is not just reserved for the developer
This is Gonna b so Cool CJ🔥🔥🔥👍n Happy Thursday😀…..
Beautiful! Wish I could live in NY and afford to live here. It has always been my dream.
Good for him!
Beautiful! ❤❤❤
Sweet units; I'd be so incredibly happy in the one bedroom. ❤
Awesome place
Love it. Bank manager won’t talk to me but I love it.
I would like to live in NYC part time these places are nice😊
That car was a morris mini it's a British icon 😭
Austin, Morris, Rover. It was sold under almost every mainstream brand under the BMC/British Leyland/BL/Austin-Rover/Rover Group umbrella at one time or another, but the Rover branding was purely for Japan, I think because Rover had a pretty decent reputation there, given that most 1980s and '90s Rovers were essentially British-built Honda products.
The Rover is a British car. 👍
Hi Cash 💸,
I used to live in Greenpoint when it wasn't "popular." To me, this was very affordable, nice and nostalgic. I think I'll look into it. You did really well today. 👍 Warm thoughts I send your way, Raquel 🙋🏻♀️🙉🙈🙊🌬🌳🍂🍃🍂🍃🎃👍💸
Beautiful ❤❤❤
I remember that area was a polish neighborhood and it was very affordable to live there but that area it’s so ridiculous expensive now..
"Like Knitting" LOL You have natural Jokes 🙂
Now this is a place worth the price, would happily roommate there
Niceeeee ! Cash for the win
I used to live in Greenpoint, of Graham Ave. This made me miss Greenpoint/Williamsburg.
Beautiful, though I don't think I'd want wall paper of people in theater boxes with their eyes all on me in the bathroom. Definitely get some 'performance anxiety".
I was thinking the exact same thing! I wouldn't want to use that bathroom because of the wallpaper. And if I could afford that kind of luxury, that wallpaper would be coming DOWN!!!
the wallpaper in that bathroom is hilarious
Happy Thursday Cash ❤
I'm #1 again. Why? Because I have no life?
No, I have a great life, a great wife. House paid for and no debt. I just wait eagerly every day to watch the continuing adventures of our favorite New York hero, Mister Cash Jordan as he explores the living possibilities with great wit and charm. I make no apology for being Numero uno. You go, Cash!
a great life, a great wife, mothaf.... that's a rap song, lmao. i got zero life too but i've never been numero uno or even close, lol. CASH IS KING!
@@krisstopher8259 lol. Cash is King in more ways than one. I don't want a cashless society just yet, though I know it's coming because "they" want a paper trail on everyone. Sad! Stay chill, bro!
Very, very nice.
Good morning Cash!!!
You would never be bored
171 Cayler, if anyone was wondering where this building was
It's a lovely apartment with all the bells and whistles, though with a rather ambitious price. However, it does nothing to alleviate the crushing shortage of affordable apartments in NYC.
Any increase in supply alleviates the shortage. Even an increase in the supply of "luxury" apartments reduces the number of rich people bidding on lower quality apartments that should be affordable.
@@WhatIsThis-zq4hkwhoa! That made sense! But somehow I don’t feel safe with that assessment. Trickle down theory keeps popping into my head.
@@WhatIsThis-zq4hk: there is no lack of properties for those who can afford north of $2m. It's the middle income and working class people who are feeling the pinch. Further, they are being squeezed out as gentrification bits deeper into neighbourhoods like Bed-Stuy and Flatbush.
Not sure if the prices are ambitious. Maybe in the lower income place like the Bronx. But the building is in Manhattan. For Manhattan the price is pretty good.
@@eattherich9215 this…so many questions
That home office space could also fit a small pull out couch or futon for guests.
Nice! but jeez the prices!!!! 😮
If I could afford it, that neighborhood is it.
The developer seems like a genuinely good person! Great vlog.
Cash Jordan is such a cool guy. I wish i lived in NYC so i could copy him. Lol. But i guess i could do a Stockholm edition tho. Even my crazy apartment would make people go dafuq, lol. So if you're in the neighborhood Jordan you can come visit my batcave/retro museum apartment in the outskirts of the swedish capital. Sverige är ett fantastiskt ställe! (i can do it in finnish too but that's unnecessary lol)
Interesting
French car! lol thats a Mini cooper British through and through. Has that dude never watched The Italian Job or heard of the quote "You're only supposed to blow the bl00dy doors off"
If it is for affordable people then yes. But it seems like it wouldn't be.
You know that croc that got your hand? Well I got it's head 🤭
Really great video!! Daniel did an AH-MAZING job @ renovating and overseeing all of the details of this building. Including a dedicated workspace in every apartment is smart. I need natural light/large windows in my office, but the workspace offered in the apartment can be turned into other functioning rooms like a kid's playroom or a touchdown office for a colleague if you two are working on a project.
For this price I'd go with Manhattan
Yo Cash, love the vid, but that Mini ( yeah the Rover is called a Mini in Europe ), is actually a British car. And a real icon at that as well. Google is your friend 🙂
For the amount of space that finished unit has and the neighborhood the price isn't bad for NYC
Will you return and show us the finished penthouse? Sending aloha from Hilo, Hawaiʻi🌺
This is awesome!
Yes it costs money, but not as much money as New York rent!😂
Vandals last week swarmed NYC subways smashing hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of train windows closing down a large part of the train system. Just another day in paradise.
That neighborhood is amazing. That's the kind I would want to live in if I ever lived in NYC
To continue the line, “I need TP for my bunghole. Heheh heheh heheh.” I just imitated him three times watching this video let alone in my youth heheh heheh heheh…..
The Rover is not a French car, its actually a British mini cooper, an original.
Cash, You should buy it!!
It was smart of him to stage the sun.
