I've been EDCing this same Mystery Ranch Briefcase everyday for work. I went on a day hike on the Appalachian Trail before doing my shift and utilized the backpack straps to carry it as a daypack.
great review. I do truly appreciate how you got right to the nitty-gritty in appropriate detail, yet not exhaustive tedious minutia. I think many other gear reviewers are losing the plot with this and their 30+ minute reviews. I've been daily using my 5.11 messenger bag since 2018 and its been great. Unfortunately I find I regularly need to carry two laptops (13" & 14"), my ac adapters for both, my over-the-ear headphones in its protective case, and a small 4"x3"x2" tech pouch. I'm hoping this messenger/briefcase will be able to handle this? I'm trying to avoid a backpack if I can. Kind of at that age where the look of a messanger/briefcase is more desired.
Nice and thorough review as always. Was wondering how bag use would change being on the road full time. Appreciate the Vanquest comparison. Nice alternative. Mystery Ranch bags are becoming part of our pack and bag use.
I also have it ,and its great! For CC tactical use ,it performs perfect. Also big deal the twice side bottle pockets and the molle all around with velcro. The 90 dollars price of 5.11 cant compare with the 150 of Mystery Ranch that they are asking
2yr update. It's currently $230 right now. That's a solid pass for me. I liked your video and the product but that's $100 more than the vanquest option.
I really like Vanquest. Except they have so many pockets I struggle with remembering where I put items. I have to go through every pocket to find my charger etc.😬
G'day Aaron, I have been using a small pack until now, though I do see the benefits of working out of a messenger type design. I quite like different aspects of these two, back carry is not negotiable for me but the Vanquest is slimmer with more org options. As you are only an inch or two taller I suspect I would have the same issues with the straps on the MR. I'll keep looking, I'll know it when I see it/try it on I reckon. Thanks for the look mate. Without lockable zippers this bag is only good for using as a dipper bag. Who in their right mind would use a briefcase that can’t be secured with a lock?
@@gideonstactical the materials used if not the same, are comparable and both on decent level. I am just trying to be reasonable if I really need extra pocket or other features for double or triple the price.

Mystery ranch has best zippers in my opinion.
I wish I could find a 3 way that I could edc and put a change of clothes in. I think this is a little too small for me.
