Perhaps a change for next year is to have two finishing chutes. One for the 100 milers finishing and one for the 200 elites. Seems like the final placings could have been different if the guys had a more open chute.
I hope @unbound sees this comment. That coupled with the 100 riders trying to race the elite guys into the finish line made for a mess. Two lanes are needed next year.
Yeah I've read jokes about musstaches at gravel races... this is the first video I watched about one and wow, those people were actually not joking around so much.
This is one of the longest running gravel events in the US. While the course doesn't have much sustained climbing the topography makes for some punchy climbs. This event didn't feature any mountain bike like single track but the surface of the road and the sharp flint rock makes it challenging, that and the pace that can be maintained.
This is the top gravel event in the US if not the world. Used to be called Dirty Kanza, been going for a long time. top pros are doing 200 miles in 10 hours which is amazing on these roads/conditions
Imagine riding your heart out for 200miles, then it comes down to a sprint and you have to worry about some punters going 12mph to the finish-line. This could have been handled better...
Super edit! Great footage, I think this goes down as one of the toughest Unbound. You guys thinned out pretty fast and I see you did try shake your competitors with some real grinding. Your performance was on another… so close. Well Done. You should have an IRC workshop on how to clean a tire with what you got around you! 🤣 Hates off to BW for been the best wingman. Get some well deserved rest and look forward to your full breakdown on this race!
If I would have just finished unbound and had to hear a woman yelling slow down while standing in the road becoming a hazard, I just would have crashed into her
My favorite race to watch Unbound and Paris Roubaix

The race isn’t about the top ten pro’s . But the thousands of other riders that are there to just finish.
@@garyonnen7634 no, its about the top ten.
That brought gravel racing to a whole new level!
Good video. Hope for a race recap at a later date. Thanks.
Just wanted to get a little footage up and some BTS. Recap with more photos coming shortly!
Would have been easy to phone that nightmare in. A bold, gutty ride by all!
Kudos to everyone who finished. While that mud section was bad, there was and end to it and the rest of the course was in pretty good condition.
Awesome summary of the race!

A requirement to participate in this one...
I wonder if anyone ran a gearbox and belt and how they faired in the mud
Who has the stabilized footage from the chasing quad? Are we getting an unbound doc?
I believe that was the camera they were using for the live feed, quite the set up. I would imagine they got some good footage.
DIRTY KANZA!!!
Would you say this event is world series of Gravel? I understand all these Gravel events can be really rough, just wondering?

The punters (as you referred to them) paid to be there, too.
yes the race director could of re-routed the race so they don't walk in 5 inches of mud.
Typo in the opener. Ptet
The biggest problem in being your own editor. Wish I caught that one …
@@PureGravel All good. Happens to everyone. :-)

New Grail with a new cockpit?
Cannot confirm nor deny

we wouldn't recommend that .
