      The bane of the backcountry, keep them on the farm. These vehicles have caused so much damage in so little time. The thing is they have allowed so many mouth breathin couch potatoes with no backcountry etiquette or experience to explore the backcountry and these folks just don't know how to behave out there. I think the solution is education, or the Bill Burr method.

    Hell yeah! BTW!
    I’m actually kinda surprised it was only 8 bottles for a 10.5 hour effort.
    This summer I did the Koko north from Cowskin Campgrounds (5 miles north of Dewey) on a gravel bike. Was having a blast all day wondering why people use a MTB-and then I got outside of Fruita. Got dangerous real quick. Where Pete was lifting over the boulder I started wondering if I was off trail because it was such a technical, big travel piece of trail. Excellent production! Nice job, Pete!

      So many Moab legends don’t make it to the public knowledge. Dunno if that’s a shame or extra cool for the true legends. Shooting the vid I did with Pete at White Rim, Sevenoff told me at length (as he is oft to do) about local legends doing such things, and bragging or lying about it at local watering holes. Was cut from final edit, due to time, but feel that a local could do a really cool piece on such accounts of daring-do and heroics.

    • @kaffeinekeiser9091
      @kaffeinekeiser9091 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Beside the aerodynamic advantage? Have you ever held onto MTB, or any handlebars for ten hours of rough riding? Every time I've gone over ~ eight hours, I'm desperately seeking new places to put my hands. I've even resorted to putting, horror of horrors, bar-ends on my XC bike when doing White Rim day-laps.
      But mostly, it's fast.

    If a man (person) rides a trail, and he doesn't have Strava, did he really ride it? Fuck yes! I am all for everybody doing their own thing, as long as it doesn't impinge on others, but riding a trail like the Kokopelli for Fastest Known Times seems to miss the point of such a trail, in my opinion. I used to live in Fruita, CO (and hope to again some day) which is just East of the eastern terminus of the Kokopelli Trailhead and have ridden its segments many times. It is absolutely beautiful. The fact he was cursing Mother Nature at the end of his ride is ridiculous. She gave this trail, this area, as a gift. It is freaking amazingly wonderous. Pause your ride, turn off your Strava, lift your head and appreciate the beauty. That trail isn't a race track. Its an Eden. When I watch this video, it makes me yearn to be standing on the cliffs overlooking the Colorado again, smelling the sagebrush and juniper, but it also makes me feel like he (and his ilk) are prostituting that trail system. If speed is your thing, go ride circles around a BMX track (with your Strava on 😜) and leave the trail to those who see it for what it is. I wish Pete no ill will, but, as someone who loves the trail for itself, and the bike being a great way to get out and enjoy nature, I felt this needed to be said. Once again, just this man's opinion.
