This was fun to watch. The Alderney Race was our first sailing passage (ever!), from Cherbourg to Jersey, in the middle of the night, with no moon and 20 knots of wind. That bumpy section just north of Cap de la Hague made our Garcia bounce around more than we expected. One of us got seasick and the other one nearly got seasick. We looked at the lights of towns on shore to try to give us a reference point. What a ride that was! This is not a place to be in bad weather, especially not with wind against current. Night time makes it seem worse than it is though. Thanks for the video. Regards, Rick.
The Tides are large and between Jersey and France when you get a very low tide you see huge numbers of rocky outcrops like Termite cities sticking out of the sands ...only the local fishermen can thread there way through them to shore .. if the weather's good. Then there's the usual range of rocks reefs.
Another great video. Many many thanks. I really enjoy watching you guys. I do believe that Cap de La Hague is a cape at the tip of the Cotentin Peninsula. Looking forward to you next video. Cheers Rich
A bit of info from a Dutch guy. Indeed, during WW II people from the Dutch resistance would ask to pronounce Scheveningen if they suspected a German spy. That worked. Unfortunately, folks from the south of Holland (Brabant and Limburg) cannot produced the rolling, glottal g-sound and many were killed as well. And on capes..... Their Dutch names are "Kaap de Goede Hoop", Kaap Leeuwin" and "Kaap Hoorn". The three famous ones. We also refer to Cap de la Hague as Kaap Den Haag. Among Dutch sailors it is known as the most dangerous of the four as it is the closest to France. And on your motorbike trip to Nordkap......I am interested to follow that as well. Before I started sailing I drove a bike in my younger years. Kawasaki 750, 3 cyls two stroke, which nearly killed me......haha. What bikes will you be taking on that trip?
WoW, thank you very much, we love these type of history lessons/information 🥰 I bet it almost killed you, as they where the most potent you could have then! We are taking BMW R1250 GSA, only one, Jeanette will co-drive from the back seat 😂
@@bushpoint The Kawa had a nickname: The Widowmaker. Only 75 bhp but the torque was incredible. The BMW is a great bike. Thank God it doesn't have a sidecar. Bikes with those feel like catamarans......simply not the real thing. Drive safely Frederik, don't lose Jeannette.
If you take Channel Islands money to a bank or a post office in the British Mainland, they will change them for you 1:1 - They are legal tender in the whole of the UK, but shop staff don't know that :)
I had thought that St Peter Port had a maximum yacht size of 15m. Did you go inside over the sill or on the outer pontoons? A fun trip is from Alderney to Cherbourg. You have to head south of Cap de la Hague in order to go in a straight line.
Dusk is the time around when the sun is setting, and dawn is the time around when it's rising. Also, wasn't From Dusk Till Dawn a 1990s vampire movie? 😂 Not quite a "Western"!
It’s a pleasure seeing you two out and about. Genuine people, fantastic yacht. Must ask how tall Fredrik is. I am 195cm and considering looking at a boreal 47. Not sure if I’ll fit in most of it. And Jeanette is such a cool squirrel.😂 Only ever skipped through most of your videos, about to actually start again and watch from the beginning. You two are very relatable. All the best from a kiwi expat in Europe
What a
Lovely couple . They're so refreshing and joyful even without coffee in early morning.😮
Thank you so much for your nice comment 🥰 On Friday 1700 CET there will be a new film 😊

Thank you for sharing your story and we can for sure recommend to plan and be careful going around there! Thanks for you comment 😊
Wow the currents there are no joke. Good thing the fuel tank problem was discovered in easier water. Enjoy your summer 🙂

We do agree :-) Wish you the same, have a nice summer!
Yes, it's a dramatic coast and you need to know you way :-)

Thank you so much and thank you for watching 😊
Another fine video. Fun times catching up with you both in the Netherlands. Hopefully we'll see you soon. We're slowly making our way north :)
Thank you guys, and hopefully see you soon in the Stockholm Achipelago 😘
Another great and interesting voyage. Cheers
Thank you very much!

Thank you for clarifying, much appreciated.

This time we where outside, however we have been inside but that was out of season, so maybe it depends on how busy they are.

Thank you for clarifying 😊 After all guessing we are happy there was at least a movie!

Hey I’ve just answered my question, found an episode in the Norway adventure. 191 - 192 cm and still growing. 😂
Thank you so much for you kind words 😊 And also for watching 🥰
Happy you found the answer yourself, and yes he has grown a bit taller after doing Yoga 🙏🏻
Hi Human Kiwi. At 195, you'll not fit standing up straight in most parts of a Boreal 47 or a Garcia Exploration 45. So, it's a bigger boat for you!
