It is a great kit Brett but if you are going to leave the panels open on the wings I would suggest you either scratch build or find an aftermarket .30 caliber machine guns because they are very crude. I will probably scratch build one and cast copies of it.

That looks like a very nice kit!
Question: why were Eastern Front air battles fought at lower elevations?

+venusboys3 Whereas the air combat in north-western Europe revolved around high altitude strategic bombing, on the Eastern Front both sides were mainly engaged in low-level ground attack. The fighters and ground attack aircraft therefore tended to be operating at lower altitudes.

If the plane was hit and going down, how would the pilot get out? wouldn't the wind rushing against the door keep him trapped?

There was a release handle that basically disengaged the door from its hinges, so you didn't have to open it, it just fell off.
